Dex: Shraith are playful pokémon who especially like the cold. They are immune to distraction from shiny objects, because they are used to sunlight glittering off snow or ice, but they enjoy toys such as plush animals, and show more interest in objects darker in colour. They enjoy playing with their own semisolidity, although they will become irritable if outdone by a ghost capable of fully phasing.

Shraith who give birth are more likely to abandon their young after hatching, albeit with fresh meat nearby and in a cave for shelter, and instead will continue roaming the mountains. Their purpose is unknown. They seem unconcerned about dangers to themselves, and instead play with each other or explore in small groups.

Dex: Essectre are expert climbers, and are fully comfortable descending the steepest slopes or climbing down a tree head-first. They can leap up to eight metres horizontally or four metres vertically in a single bound, and land perfectly. They are also fast runners. They are known to drag heavy objects, often carcasses, up steep slopes or trees.

But it is their stealth that makes them so feared. Essectre are said to stalk the night, only appearing to kill humans and steal their souls, and then vanishing into the darkness. They can kill a human with a single blow from their paws or fangs. The corpses it leaves behind are found at high altitudes, holding a shard of ice. As a ghost, it leaves no footprints or other traces.

The female typically raises her young by hunting for them and teaching them to hunt, although the father also provides food and protection, and may take over the female role if the mother is unavailable. Shraith will stay with the essectre mother for up to two years in some cases, although it is capable of hunting very early in its life.
