EXP Bonuses

Along with the standard EXP gain from winning battles, pokemon can also receive bonuses for defeating special opponents. When your pokemon defeats an evolved pokemon, a trained pokemon, a gym leader's pokemon, or another player's pokemon, the EXP gain will increase like so:
Evolved PokemonFor defeating a pokemon that has evolved once (Vigoroth, Furret), your pokemon will receive an EXP bonus equal to 20% of the opponent's level cut in half.
Example: Your pokemon has defeated a wild Lv. 30 Nuzleaf. Your pokemon receives
+30 EXP (standard reward) and the evolution bonus (.20 * 15 =
+3 EXP). Total EXP Gain is
+33 EXP.
For defeating a pokemon that has evolved twice (Venusaur, Slaking), your pokemon will receive an EXP bonus equal to 20% of the opponent's level.
Example: Your pokemon has defeated a wild Lv. 30 Shiftry. Your pokemon receives
+30 EXP (standard reward) plus the evolution bonus (.20 * 30 =
+6 EXP). Total EXP gain is
+36 EXP.
-----------------
Trained PokemonFor defeating a trained pokemon Lv. 20 or under, your pokemon will receive an EXP bonus of +2. Every ten levels this bonus will increase by one, so defeating a Lv. 30 trained pokemon gives a +3 EXP bonus, defeating a Lv. 40 pokemon gives a +4 EXP bonus, and so on.
Example: Your pokemon has defeated a trained Lv. 30 Shiftry. Your pokemon receives
+30 EXP (standard reward), the evolution bonus (.20 * 30 =
+6 EXP), and the trained bonus (
+3 EXP). Total EXP gain is
+39 EXP.
-----------------
Gym Leader's PokemonFor defeating the first gym leader's pokemon, your pokemon will receive +2 EXP. For defeating the second gym leader's pokemon, your pokemon will receive +3 EXP. The third gym leader gives +4 EXP, and so on all the way to the eighth and final gym leader, who has a bonus of +9 EXP.
Example: Your pokemon has defeated a gym leader's trained Lv. 30 Shiftry. Your pokemon receives
+30 EXP (standard reward), the evolution bonus (.20 * 30 =
+6 EXP), the trained bonus (
+3 EXP), and the fourth gym leader bonus (
+5 EXP). Total EXP gain is
+44 EXP.
-----------------
Player's PokemonFor defeating another player's pokemon, your pokemon will receive EXP equal to the 150% of the opponent's level. This bonus overrides the trained pokemon bonus. Evolution bonuses and Gym Leader bonuses (if the opposing player is a Gym Leader) remain, however.
Example: Your pokemon has defeated another player's Lv. 30 Shiftry. Your pokemon receives
+30 EXP (standard reward) plus an additional 1.5x multiplier (30 * 1.5 = 45 EXP) and the evolution bonus (.20 * 30 =
+6 EXP). Total EXP gain is
+51 EXP.

Impossible VictoryKutho is not always a safest region to travel in, nor is it always friendly to the novice trainer. There may be situations where your pokemon faces an opponent drastically more powerful in level. Under normal circumstances, this would result in your pokemon losing (or even dying). But if, against all odds, your pokemon manages to eke out a win, it will receive the Impossible Victory bonus.
There is no set number or formula to use for this bonus. The tougher the opponent and the greater the risk, the more the EXP bonus will increase.
This bonus is reserved for truly dangerous situations and opponents, so those players who might intentionally seek out this reward may want to think twice about doing so.

LosingIf you are unfortunate enough to lose a pokemon battle, there is a chance you can still get EXP. If your pokemon manages to faint another pokemon before getting KOed itself, and if you lose the battle, your pokemon still gain 2/3 of the EXP it would have gained if you had won the battle.
Example: Your pokemon has defeated another player's Lv. 30 Shiftry, but is fainted later on in the match. You go on to lose that pokemon battle. Your pokemon WOULD have received
+51 EXP after all appropriate bonuses are applied, but because you lost the overall battle, your pokemon receives only 2/3 of that total EXP (51 * (2/3)) = 35.3). Total EXP gain is
+35 EXP.Note that if you had actually gone on to
win that pokemon battle, no penalties would have been applied and your pokemon would have received the entire +51 EXP, even if it had fainted.

Happy battling, Kuthoers!
