Glad that he was finally making some progress on this seemingly impossible mission, Aizen slowed to a walk as he entered the Route. Now that he didn't have to worry about treacherous ground or strong Pokémon attacking him, there was no need to rush. Though, seeing as he wanted this task over with, his walk was much faster than it usually was. In any case, Aizen's dark whistle was coming back into play as he entertained himself by spinning his cane along his right index finger as he walked. So close. He could sense that Mura City was close now that he had passed through Fleet Town. This meant that he'd soon be rid of this annoyance of a Pokémon.

"Now, let's see what Pokémon are around for Alacrity and Syndrome to train on." Aizen muttered as he scanned the area once he had stopped walking abit.

Plains' End Path was rather different than the rest of what Aizen had seen of Kutho. Rather than lush and green, the environment was harsh and dusty. The sun beat down mercilessly, and every step that Aizen took would raise a little puff of grit from the parched soil. What few plants could grow here were mostly weeds, their spiky leaves coated with a thin layer of dirt. Here and there a stunted tree provided a bit of reprieve from the searing light, but even these could do little to relieve the environment of its starkness.

Nevertheless, there were a few pokémon that chose to make this route their home, including:

- A gligar hanging upside-down from the branches of one of the trees, taking a nap out of the reach of the late-afternoon sunlight.

- A magby was sitting alone on a rock, a stick in one hand as it drew idle patterns in the dust.

- A fierce battle was taking place nearby. A young man with a sweat-soaked bandana keeping his long hair out of his eyes was yelling orders to a marshtomp. At the moment, the pokémon appeared to be alone, but a faint rumbling was coming from somewhere beneath the ground. All of a sudden, there was a grating roar, and an onix burst up from the earth beneath the marshtomp's feet, spraying a wave of dust and pebbles in all directions as it hurled the water-type high into the air.

The aipom watched the fight with faint interest. It was still disappointed, but carnage was always an exciting diversion.

A Gligar and a Magby. Both could be potentially powerful Pokémon. Reaching into his back pocket where all of his occupied PokéBalls were, Aizen made to grab two. However, his eyes widened as he realized there was only one metal orb within the pocket. He checked his left pocket, only to find it filled with the empty PokéBalls used to capture Pokémon. His bag held nothing but his PokéNav, PokéDex, and the things he brought over from Johto. It took him a moment to realize what was going on. Narrowing his eyes, he grabbed at Aipom's neck and brought him around to face him.

"What the hell did you do with my Pokémon!? You know what, this'll wait. I can't risk those Pokémon leaving. Aipom, you are going to weaken the Gligar to the point of being able to be captured, and once it is, you will bring the PokéBall to me without delay. Now go before I cut that face of yours off." Aizen snarled before almost throwing the Aipom in the direction of the Gligar. With the chimp dealt with, Aizen reached into his back pocket and pulled out his only remaining PokéBall. Sighing, he dropped it in front of him to see what Pokémon the Aipom had left him. Even as he did this, his PokéDex was pulled out and he pointed it at each Pokémon that wasn't his in the immediate area to get their basic information.

"I can't believe this is happening to me..."

The aipom grinned broadly even as Aizen held it by the throat, its mocking smile as cheerful as ever. When Aizen tossed him aside, the aipom easily flipped over and landed on his feet. Rather than running to handle the gligar, though, the aipom pushed off and lunged for the pokémon that was appearing from the pokéball Aizen had dropped. It was a very small and very round one--it looked as though Aizen was down to his starter again.

Even before the last glittering sparks had dissipated from the pokémon's release, Aipom was upon it, claws out as he slammed a paw into it. Alacrity rolled backwards as the aipom's scratch attack connected with a rasping screech. The monkey's smile changed to a look of horror, however, as there was a fizz and snap of electricity. For a moment, the aipom seemed frozen in place. Then he jerkily stepped back a pace, his smile twitching and his tail lashing erratically. Paralysis had definitely not been a part of his initial plan.

"This gligar is male and level eight. This magby is female and level nine. This onix is male and level twenty-two. This marshtomp is male and level eighteen. He is owned," Aizen's pokédex announced.

The onix in question was now bringing its tail up as it aimed an attack--at the trainer, not the pokémon. The man dashed out of the way as the rock snake's tail came hammering down with a crash, raising a great cloud of dust. The marshtomp had picked himself up from where he'd landed and ran back into the fray, spraying a blast of water at the onix. The huge beast snorted and turned back to face the water-type, an irritated expression on its face.

Update: Aipom is paralyzed.

So, this was it's plan all along, eh? Get his reservoir of Pokémon down to none and then take Aizen on itself. He probably didn't plan for Aizen to find the Route so fast or take into consideration that Alacrity's Static Ability could harm it. Now that Aizen know that Aipom was clearly not going to obey his orders, he would simply enjoy the opportunity of taking it out himself. Now that it was paralyzed, the level difference might not be such a determining factor. Besides, Alacrity would have plenty of even ground to use it's Quick Attack on. Oh, Aizen would relish this moment indeed. Smiling sadistically, Aizen's eyes grew wide as a dark chuckle escaped his lips.

"So, your true colors finally show. You've thrown away Belligerence and Syndrome somewhere in Fleet Town, you've made it nearly impossible to contact the only person who can bring a hold over you, and I'm under direct orders not to harm you. However, I'm sure Jewel-san would understand if I knocked you unconscious in self-defense. I'll break every bone of your body, you little shit!" Aizen snarled as he looked at his PokéDex. It would be hard to take down the Gligar with just Alacrity, but the Magby was obtainable. He had a thought to ask the Trainer for assistance in dealing with Aipom, but he was clearly busy with dealing with a rather powerful Onix. Looking down at Alacrity, Aizen clenched his hands into fists.

"Alacrity, I want you to use Quick Attack to circle around Aipom and dodge any attacks it launches at you. Once you've dodged one of it's attacks, immediately use the Quick Attack to add speed to a Spark and counterattack. If it ceases up from paralysis, do the same thing."

The aipom managed a faint hiss at Aizen as Alacrity righted itself and took off as commanded, turning into little more than a red and white blur as it sped around and around the aipom in circles. Its rapid motion dragged clouds of dust into the air, and soon the aipom was nearly invisible in the midst of a whirling cloud of grit. Nevertheless, he seemed to be making no move whatsoever to attack Alacrity. There was no way to tell whether or not he was fully paralyzed.

Finally growing tired of its endless circling, Alacrity barreled into the aipom, electricity fizzing around it in its best attempt at a spark attack. Though the aipom rocked back on his heels a bit in response to the attack, he was nevertheless able to display remarkable agility, considering his condition, and bring one of his paws slashing down with another scratch. The swipe sent Alacrity rolling backwards, a large dent in his red top. Already the voltorb was in rough shape, occasionally discharging sparks into the air and rolling along much slower, only partially because it was no longer totally spherical.

In the background, the onix had grabbed the marshtomp with its tail and lifted the mud fish off the ground. Another water gun splashed against the rock beast's face, and it let out a low, grating rasp, then began to squeeze. The marshtomp struggled and let out a strangled cry, trying desperately to escape as the onix drew the encircling noose of its tail ever tighter.

Update: Alacrity is learning spark (45%).

Gritting his teeth, Aizen watched as Alacrity took a serious blow from Aipom. He had to take advantage of Alacrity's speed. Using Spark wasn't going to cut it. He had to utilize Quick Attack in order to best Aipom. He couldn't let Alacrity take another hit. Speed was his best option and the one thing Alacrity had alot of. Nodding to himself, Aizen came up with his next order.

"Alacrity, use another Quick Attack to pelt into Aipom, then dash off using Quick Attack to avoid it's retaliation. Once you're out of reach, use a Quick Attack to pelt right back into Aipom and then move out of the way with Quick Attack. Repeat this command until I tell you otherwise." Aizen said. Hopefully, Alacrity's dent wouldn't cause it's speed to suffer. The slightest hindrance to Alacrity's mobility would cause his hit-and-run strategy to fall to pieces.

Alacrity let out a faint fizzing hum, then took off again, speeding straight towards Aipom with all the fury it could muster. The dent did slow it down a bit, but at the speed the voltorb was traveling, it wasn't really that noticeable. The quick attack caught Aipom in the chest, knocking the air out of him. The ape sat down heavily, a cloud of dust swirling up into the air around him as Alacrity sped off again. He came rolling back soon enough, this time striking Aipom in the side. The normal-type swatted at it, but the scratch didn't reach--Alacrity was already off again. Growling in annoyance, the aipom suffered another quick attack, too paralyzed to move. He was planning, though, readying himself... another quick attack hit home and then, as Alacrity sped forward for another, the aipom's tail-hand snaked out, trapping the voltorb between the ape and his tail. Though the monkey winced as the voltorb struck him, he caught it with his tail-hand as it tried to speed away, then grimly held it in place to suffer another scratching, the attack caving in the voltorb's face and ruining its slick finish. The attack was too much for the voltorb to bear and the light left its optical sensors, the occasional fizz or spark of electricity zinging from its damaged body.

The other trainer yelled more frantic orders to his marshtomp, hand going to his belt as he plucked a great ball off it. Another water gun, much weaker this time, lightly showered the onix's face, but the rock pokémon wasn't deterred. The man lobbed the great ball at it, though, and suddenly it vanished, green light bursting out all around it and sucking it into the great ball. A red recapture beam soon followed and snatched the marshtomp from the air before it landed in the dirt, even as the great ball began to twitch and shudder.

Aipom got slowly back to his feet, still clutching Alacrity tightly with his tail. Then, without warning, he hurled the voltorb straight at Aizen. It struck him square in the chest and, though the blow wasn't a hard one, there was the snarl of discharged electricity as Alacrity's static ability was turned against him. A fierce wave of electricity ripped through Aizen's body, causing his muscles to seize up uncomfortably. The aipom chuckled to himself and slowly advanced. He had managed to even the score quite nicely.

Update: Aizen is paralyzed (next post: you can move as normal, but slower). Alacrity has fainted, gained 4 EXP (level up, 0/10), and learned quick attack.

Coughing slightly as he felt his muscles spasm before seizing up. He winced at the feeling of paralysis slowly taken command of his body, but he glared down Aipom and held his ground. It was weakened by both paralysis and Alacrity's constant Quick Attacks. Aizen could still bludgeon the beast into submission with his cane. Wielding the ebony weapon in his right hand, he suddenly stepped forward and took a swing at Aipom with as much speed as he could possibly muster. He wasn't at his peak thanks to paralysis, but he hoped he had retaliated fast enough that he could push out a decent amount of agility before the effects of Alacrity's Static truly caught up with him. Noticing the sound of the battle nearby ending, Aizen smiled to himself. He'd request back-up to push the odds further in his favor.

"Hey! Could you help me out!? This Aipom's taken out my only Pokémon and tossed my other ones somewhere in the ruins of Fleet Town. I just need to knock it unconscious to cease it's continuous annoyances. Think you can lend a hand?" Aizen shouted out to the Trainer even as he backed up from any possible counter from the Aipom and made another slowed swipe at Aipom's head.

Aizen's cane connected with the aipom's shoulder with a sharp crack, and the monkey winced and staggered. At the same time, however, its tail-hand came up, grabbing the shaft of the cane in a firm, surprisingly strong grip. Almost immediately the aipom started pulling on it, trying to drag it out of Aizen's grip.

The man turned around to face Aizen, a somewhat perplexed look on his face. Aizen's story was, after all, quite a strange one. Before he could say anything in response, though, there was a faint click from behind him and then the sound of a great ball discharging. A grimace crossed the man's face and he threw himself to the side even as a half-formed, still-glowing tail slammed into the ground where he had just been standing. A moment later, the marshtomp reappeared, weary and not looking too thrilled at the prospect of facing down the onix again even as the beast's triumphant bellow rent the air.

Update: Next round you are totally unable to move.

Just when Aizen made to wretch the cane out of the Aipom's tail-hand and knock it out with a swift strike to the neck, his entire body suddenly went numb. His eyes widened as he realized that he couldn't command his limbs anymore. The paralysis had fully effected his nervous system now. His grip loosened on the cane as he tried to call out to the Trainer, but all that came out was a strained gurgle. Even his throat was affected by the Static. He fell to his knees as he tried to think of a way out of the situation. Without any direction to support his weight, his legs simply couldn't stand on their own. He was now at the mercy of this purple ape. Struggling to regain control of his body, Aizen watched the Aipom with cold, determined eyes.

The aipom grinned fiendishly and made to wrench the cane from Aizen's hand entirely--only to be rendered totally unable to move himself. The monkey's eyes bulged and his entire body shivered and twitched madly as he fought against the paralysis, but it was no good. Aside from a furious gurgling sound akin to that which Aizen had made, the aipom was powerless to act.

The onix was on a rampage again, bringing its tail crashing down atop the poor marshtomp before it could even hope to respond. As the water-type picked itself up out of the dust, blood streaming down its head and neck, a pulsating blue aura swirled into being in the air around it, radiating out from the marshtomp's leathery skin. The water-type fired off another water gun, this one noticeably larger than what it had managed previously, and for once it actually gave the onix pause. The rock snack let out a roar and ducked under the attack, raising its tail for another strike.

Update: Next post, you can move normally again.

Closing his eyes, Aizen slowly calmed his breath and stilled himself for a moment. Suddenly, his muscles relaxed slightly and he regained passage in his throat, allowing him to talk. Snapping his eyes open, he wretched his cane back from Aipom's loose and and made a clean swipe towards his neck in the hopes of catching it before it's paralysis lightened and knocking it out. The sooner he was rid of the Aipom, the sooner he could break it's limbs and tie it up. It seemed pointless to break the limbs of someone you were going to tie up anyway, but Aizen wanted to add that extra precaution in the case of Aipom's devilish tricks. Besides, any added pain to Aipom is an added bonus to Aizen.

The aipom was starting to recover from his paralysis, though he was slower than Aizen and the Rocket was able to wrench his cane free of the aipom's paws and successfully give it a vicious crack on the side of its neck. The aipom collapsed stiffly to the ground, but the attack seemed to have snapped him out of paralysis at last. He rose to all fours and darted forward, a little stiff and clumsy still but quick enough, and leapt at Aizen. His claws dug into the man's chest as he climbed up to towards Aizen's head. He wrapped his tail around Aizen's neck as tightly as he could and then started clawing at the Rocket's face, trying to reach his eyes.

Even the marshtomp's new power couldn't save it as the onix's tail descended once more, crushing it into the ground. This time, when the beast raised its tail, the marshtomp didn't rise. The trainer recalled his fallen pokémon even as the onix turned its attention to him, then chucked another great ball at the huge monster. As the ball dropped to the ground and began to shiver, the man watched it with intense apprehension; somehow, it seemed likely that if this ball failed, he was going to be in very, very big trouble.

Update: Next post, you can move as normal.

Aizen was surprised the Aipom still had this much fight left in it after all it had been through. And now it was all over Aizen, clawing madly at his face. Knowing he had to stop it before it gouged his eyes out, Aizen brought up his cane and swiftly beat into Aipom's head as hard as he could. He did this several times with his right hand as his left hand was brought up to punch into the Aipom's side. He just had to outlast it. He squeezed his eyes closed to give them extra protection. After all, there was no point in making them easy targets when all he could see was purple fur anyway. His struggle continued with the chimp, Aizen moving this way and that as he tried to get the crazed Pokémon unconscious.

"You're just delaying the inevitable, you furry bastard! Get off me!" He snarled into the Aipom's stomach as he fought it.
