His gusto quickly coming back, Ciel watched the Starly circle around and dive down for another tackle. The dive was too quick for him to worry about growling right away, but the Pocchama was able to hop to the side as the Starly passed and then clout the back of his head with a flipper. The blow startled the little bird and he dropped, hitting the grass and rolling for a few feet before coming to rest in an ungainly tangle of gray feathers. Seizing his chance Ciel dashed forward, fin raised for another strike. The Starly gave him another angry hiss that caught him off guard, but Ciel was not deterred for long; the second pound hit the Starly right between the eyes.
A wild flurry of wings saw the Starly struggling back into the air again, climing higher and higher until he was well out of range of further pounds. Keeping Phillip's advice in mind Ciel took a few steps backward and made a little growl of his own. The next dive the Starly made was a little more hesitant, and he pulled back and flew up again almost as soon as making contact with the little penguin. Apparently he hadn't realized that he was the only one who could make scary noises. More "scary noises" continued to come from Ciel's beak as he shouted and waved a tiny fist at his airborne foe, daring him to come back down and fight him like a man.
