Reaching the route hadn't been much of a trouble, since she knew where she was going. There were only three hours before the cermony started, and she wanted to get done with some issues quickly. The second they were in the relative safety of the wild and she was positive no one was there, passing by or anything, Meria turned to Kara, walked very close and hissed "We have to talk"

As she continued talking, she ket closed to the other woman's ear, so to be able to whisper her words, yeah, just another paranoia-induced precaution. "Honestly, we are in royal mess, you know it, right? If what happened in Fleet comes out, we are busted, very simple, and you and I will be enclosed in a prison, which, if you don't know, is a very bad place. And don't start talking about killing your enemies, a squad of policemen with guns is not going to be taken by an only woman and and Absol.

"So now listed carefully, during the ceremony there will be people wanting to know what had happened exactly. If, for any unlucky chance, they ask you as well, you keep vague. We got in Fleet Town, saved the nurse, heard the cries of Ursaring, stopped to take care of her and were attacked by some bandits. We defeated them and you happened to find these Pokeball. When you brought them back, we discovered the Pokemon inside were badly hurt. Period.

The woman you had... disposed of, the one with the Croconaw, don't mention her, but anyway, that's legitimate defense and we could say it happened by accident during the battle, if anything comes out-"
she paused, remebering something, the knelt down and serached her backpack.

The bandit's Pokemon, she had forgot to give them to the Pokemon center dammit! Okay, she could pass later and do it, but the fact was that she wasn't sure if she had those Pokeball with her, or if Kara had them in custody.

They were a Nidoran M, a Spearow, a Rattata or Raticate, Kara said Fang-Ratat so I'm not sure and the Croconaw, where did I put those sphere?

While rummaging, she asked the same question to Kara, just to avoid to keep looking like a moron if the woman had them.

((Ahhh, I'm incredibly sorry! I thought you hadn't made this thread yet. Happy birthday, by the way!))

Plains' End Path was perfect in terms of being bare. It was just pure grassland and sky for as far as the eye could see, with only the occasional rocks, tree, bush, or pokemon to break the monotony.

If there was any sign Kara didn't realize how much trouble the two were in, it was how completely caught off guard she was when Meria spoke so urgently on the subject. Meria had clearly lost her, and it was all Kara could do to repeat unfamiliar words. "Busted? Gun?" She was nearly about to protest against this story when asked about the extra pokeballs. "I had the snapjaw and fang-ratat, but I gave those to the injured oracle back in the burning city. Well... The fang-ratat at least..." She turned away at this point and failed to look innocent.

Meria would find two pokeballs on her person.

[Thank you ! ]

"You kept it?!" the trainer wined looking at her companion with an helpless expression. Then she sighed, she wasn't going to make her gain some sense, so better give up. Besides, the Pokemon was a criminal'sone, a death crminal to be accurate, so no one was going to claim it. Let her have her 'Snapjaw' and forget it all, her brain would surely thank for it.

"Fine, do as you please. But do as I said for the other thing, okay? Don't ask anything, simply do it. Please?"

Meria put the newly found Pokeballs in the bag again, assured they were still in place. She'll hand them to the Pokemon center once they got back from the trip. On her shoulder, Rattata sniffed the air.

Even allowing her to keep the croconaw was not enough to keep Kara happy about lying. She really didn't say anything to either confirm or deny the request, though she glared at Meria for a while before eventually scoffing and muttering something under her breath. It sounded vaguely like the word "fine."

[Wheee, I'm back!]

"Thank you!" Meria said gladly. Kara was a strange woman, granted, but she was also quite reliable most of the time, so Meria was sure she wasn't to screw up... much.

"You are great, Kara! And I'm sure that Pokemon will be fine with you. Hey, why don't you try him on a fight here? We can do a little bit of training while we have time, what do you say?"

Meria wanted to keep the woman's mood high and not upset her, Kara was dangerous when upset, and a little fighting would do her good. At least she hoped, forher companion could have some curious reactions sometimes, when facing unexpected situations...

((Haha, hi. Sorry for the wait, I just came back from a lengthy hiatus.))

Miraculously, the suggestion to try out her new croconaw did wonders for Kara's mood. "Yes, that is a good idea. Very well, Meria. We will take opposite directions to cover more ground," she murmured, casting her eyes thoughtfully around the route. She began to walk off on her own without waiting for Meria's consent. "I will not stray far. You should be able to find me, but if you cannot, I will find you."

She suddenly flicked her wrist and opened up a pokeball she had on hand. It wasn't the croconaw, but her absol, Stonesong, and the two of them began to stalk off across the plains.

There were pokemon around Meria's general area that Kara apparently hadn't gone for. They were certainly weaker-looking than Stonesong, but looked to be a good match for Meria's team level-wise.

- Trilling eerily to itself was a lone baltoy skirted through the grass. It appeared to be wandering aimlessly, as it moved leisurely and often paused to examine clusters of rocks.

- An upturned pile of dirt, grass, and pebbles suddenly gave way as the geodude buried beneath tore itself out. It bellowed indignantly and whirled about, apparently not expecting to be put under so much dirt, and looked for the culprit.

- Two zigzagoons with particularly large amounts of dirt and grass sticking to their hindquarters watched the geodude intently from afar. After giving their bodies a good shake to free themselves of the clinging dirt, they went bounding off towards the base of a hollow tree stump right when geodude wasn't looking in their direction.

- A ponyta came trotting into the area and slowed to a stop. After casting a wary look around (and failing to notice Meria thanks to the geodude/zigzagoon situation), it snorted and lowered its head to sample the dry grass.

I've been latitant too, do not worry

Someone had said Ponyta?

The horse was a good prize in Meria's opinion, who was looking forward the chnace to add a fire Pokemon to her team. The fact it was a Ponyta only added to her desire of catching the Pokemon.

Pity marill was still at low level, as her water attacks would have made the fight faster and cleaner, but since the blue mouse had only normal moves in her set, the trainer could use the occasion to train Nidoran instead. At least, the rabbit Poison Point ability could come into use.

Meria set the chosen Pokemon out of her Pokeball. Nidoran was in a good mood after the nice morining meal, and replied readily to her trainer's request to attack with a Growl and a Scratch

Because of Nidoran's small stature, the amber grass kept her reasonably concealed en route to the pontya, and she had complete cover whenever she ducked into denser and taller patches. Thankfully, the pony had chosen to graze where the grass grew higher and more plentifully. More than once Ponyta's head shot up at the sound of grass rustling and peered around, nostrils flaring with fear and unease, but Nidoran would always hold still and stay hidden until Ponyta let down its guard again.

When this got so nerve-wracking that Ponyta remained skittish even after returning to its grazing, Nidoran chose that time to strike. From the safety of the grass and a collection of small rocks, Nidoran hissed sharply and tore out of her cover to attack Ponyta's front legs.

The panicked ponyta reared at the noise and crashed down with its hooves to try and stamp on Nidoran's head, but a lucky bound to right kept the rodent out of harm's way. As Ponyta continued the attempted trampling, however, Nidoran abandoned any thought of scratching the front legs and instead bolted past them, running underneath Ponyta's belly and lunging clawfirst into Ponyta's hind leg instead. Her claws cut cleanly into the leg and the horse staggered, but not before Nidoran fled from underneath her opponent and back into the safety of the grass. Ponyta recovered soon after, more frightened than hurt, and turned in a tight circle to try and figure out where Nidoran had gone.

Update: Ponyta (Attack -1).
End Stats: Ponyta (Attack -1).

Terrain: Grassland. Grass is plentiful and just tall enough to hide a pokemon of Nidoran's size, especially in the taller grass close to where Ponyta is standing. Nearby is a collection of small rocks.

"Nice go!" complimented Meria, watching her rabbit handle the situation with surprising intelligence. The horse was probably thinking the exact opposite, but there no way all of them could be happy, right?

She watched as the quadruped panicked after Nidoran's stroke and thought that it may have a good chance to attack again. She didn't want the fire Pokemon to get too scared with time and escape, as it would have hard to catch up with it. True, she had Taillow that ould provide a good chaser, but why risk when it was not necessary?

"Keep hidden while moving and aim at the hind legs and belly when you attack. Try a Tackle to have the opponent lose its balance and be able to get away faster. If you are able to surpsrise it from the rear, seize the chance, but if you haven't an occasion, don't hesitate too much and go nevertheless, we already have an advantage with her so nervous."

Pontya abandoned the thought of finding its attacker at the sound of Meria's orders. Detecting a human in the area enough to make the Ponyta pull back and it looked as if it would flee at any second.

It might have done so had Nidoran not seized the chance to circle around unseen and make a clear lunge at her target's back leg. The limb buckled, Ponyta collapsing with it, and the horse's fiery mane billowed outward as if fueled by its owner's fear.

The surrounding grass only fed the fire more.

Soon the flames from Ponyta's back had spread to the surrounding field, and though the fire was not large, already Nidoran was feeling the pressure. The same grass she had used for cover was fast becoming a wall (at least to her) of flame. Feeling more than a little nervous herself, she sought refuge from the growing fire by running back towards Meria. She neglected to stick to the tallest grass she could find since remaining hidden was not high on her list of priorities right then.

Ponyta was a little slower in getting to its feet. Even when it stood it staggered, clearly hurt by the last blow. But as it righted itself, a radiant red aura swirled about its body. The fire surrounding it seemed drawn to the light, even contributing to the aura and curling around Pontya's form for a moment before pulling to the grass and burning as it had before. With a sharp shake of Ponyta's head, the aura dissipated, and jets of smoke poured from the horse's nostrils as it snorted aloud. Whatever had occurred, the frightened little pony looked to have gained some confidence. It caught Nidoran heading back towards Meria and though limping still, actively began running after it. No doubt Ponyta would catch up; its huge strides covered far more ground than Nidoran's tiny bounds.

Update: Ponyta (Flash Fire ability activated--fire-type attacks increase by 50% and Ponyta is immune to fire-type moves. Speed -1 because of its injured back leg.)

End Stats: Ponyta (-1 Attack, -1 Speed, 50% increase in fire-type attacks, immune to fire-type moves.)

Terrain: Grassland. Grass is plentiful and just tall enough to hide a pokemon of Nidoran's size, especially in the taller grass close to where Ponyta had been standing. This taller grass has since caught fire and the blaze, though small, is spreading. Smoke is beginning to rise. Nearby is a collection of small rocks. (Weather: Cloudy.)

Damn it, we set a fire in here!

Like she needed another trouble to deal with. And she hadn't any water Pokemon to pull down the flames effectively! Her attention completely away from the battle, Meria lost time fumbling with her Pokeballs before retrieving Taillow's one.

"I need you to find Kara and led her here" she ordered the bird. She didn't need help in dealing with the horse, but her new... acquired Croconaw was going to be vital to avoid the fire spreading around. At least the fact Kara kept it was going to prove useful...

It took a while more to remember she wasn't engaged in a coffee break, but in a battle. She had temporary forgot Ponyta and Nidoran, and the little rabbit wasn't very aggressive right then, afraid as she was opf the fire.

"Nidoran, stop and Tackle it" she commanded as she saw Ponyta coming after her Pokemon. She was a little surprised, as she hadn't noticed Ponyta's change of demeanor a few moments before.

Maybe it feels more at ease between these blazes.

however, she dismissed it as not important, ignoring also Nidoran's current state of mind as she ordered her to fight back. She was too focused on the fire and on how much would take Kara to get there.

Tailow was off and flying the moment Meria had finished the order.

The moment Nidoran turned to face Ponyta, the horse blinked out of sight, and the uncomprehending rodent hadn't even a chance to ponder what had happened before fur, hooves, and flames all came crashing down upon her body. Ponyta had dug into its reserves and used a Quick Attack to speed forward, though as a consequence the attack was an ugly one; though it started out well and succeeded in running over Nidoran, Ponyta lost its balance and went sprawling. No doubt Ponyta had caused a decent amount of damage to itself, as it took two attempts to pull itself back to its feet.

All that weight falling upon such a small body spelled nothing but trouble to Nidoran. She didn't even move for a few seconds, but she eventually rose again. Thankfully Ponyta's hooves had not landed somewhere especially vital, like the skull or the ribs, but the charge left Nidoran with a limp since her front leg refused to support her weight. Nidoran was also fairly shaken, as Ponyta's awkward charge had slammed the rodent's head hard into the ground.

The concussive shot hadn't done anything to her memory, at least. Nidoran quickly remembered her orders and raced after the recovering horse, who was already unsteady and just crumpled after another tackle to its injured legs. When it fell this time around, it finally seemed to be incapable of getting up. Of course, all its flailing around in the grass just set more fires in addition to what was already there, but that was one crisis quickly averted; Tailow was back, squawking to announce her return, and right behind her was Kara and Snapjaw.

Kara already had an idea of what she was needed for, and after brandishing her knife at the croconaw, it did too. Snapjaw spat great bursts of water onto the burning grass and quickly extinguished everything but the small flames nearest to Nidoran and Ponyta. The job complete, Snapjaw staggered back and got in a feeble roar towards its new master before being recalled. Kara unceremoniously started back the way she came, though she did pause to see how the battle was faring.

Update: Nidoran (Speed -1 from injured front leg).

End Stats: Nidoran (Speed -1). Ponyta (-1 Attack, -1 Speed, 50% increase in fire-type attacks, immune to fire-type moves.)

Terrain: Grassland. Grass is plentiful and just tall enough to hide a pokemon of Nidoran's size, especially in the taller grass. This taller grass' fire has been extinguished and a decent amount of smoke is rising from it. The grass around Nidoran and Ponyta is currently on fire, though it is very small. Nearby is a collection of small rocks. (Weather: Cloudy.)

Meria waved a thank you at Kara as she left with her Pokemon. The fire had been put out very quickly, but it wasn't hard to guess, since a Croconaw wasn't exactly a weak Pokemon. In fact, she had given Kara a new deadly weapon, that, togheter with her Absol made her a very dangerous trainer...

Nice, how those thoughts recahed Meria always after she had done a stupid thing like that. Now she had even more than ever stay on the older girl good side, especially with a team weak as hers. She always said she wanted to train more and when the occasion came, something ruined her plans.

Well, now there's nothing on my way, so better make these moments valuable. she decided, taking out a Pokeball and trying it on the wounded Ponyta. Hopefully, the horse was weak enough to not put much of a fight.

Meanwhile, Nidoran trotted near her, as much as she could trot with a wounded leg. The trainer let her rest, knowing that until they passed in a Pokemon Center again, the little rabbit training was over, unless they met some really easy Pokemon to defeat. Well, she had plenty others pupils who were in need of a fight, so she could care about Nidoran later.

The ponyta was in no shape to resist, and it settled into the pokeball almost immediately after Meria had thrown it for capture. All that was left was a small fire that Kara's crononaw had neglected to extinguish.

The rest of the wild pokemon were still there, surprisingly. Either they hadn't noticed the fire, or the blaze's sudden end must have eased their concerns. The zigzagoons were keeping a wary eye on Meria, though.

Update: Meria has caught a ponyta at 25% health. Consult the PokeDEX for more information.

Nidoran had gained +7 EXP and is at 80% health.

Meria put the Pokeball away for the moment, she wanted Ponyta to calm down before confronting it again. A scared fire Pokemon in a grassy place was dangerous and she didn't want to keep calling on Kara for every principle of fire she caused.

She felt relaxed after the fight, she noticed, like the fact she had to focus on somehing else other than how to escape the police had soothed her mind a bit. Good, she should keep training for another while then, the trainer decided.

"Good job Nidoran, I'm proud of you! Do you want to rest now? Or you feel you can keep again a little more? I'd let you and Marill out for now, to fight some more, but if you prefer to rest, it's your choice."

Marill gladly accepted to be able to walk around a bit, but Meria didn't want to tire her team too much. As she let Nidoran decide what to do, she started to locate another target suitable for a water Pokemon who hadn't any water attack.
