Taillow's wings beat furiously with effort, and she streaked towards one of the murkrows so swiftly that it didn't have a chance to dodge. Her unlucky target managed a grating "awk!" before the quick attack shoved it off of its perch to the ground.

The other murkrow watched its attacked companion flounder on the ground for a moment. Then it gave Meria one last passive glance, repeated the same look towards Taillow, and simply took off without a fight in Kara's direction.

As for the murkrow that Taillow had knocked over, it had recovered on the ground and glared up at its attacker. Bristling, Murkrow too began hopping away from Meria and the tree. It made no attempt to fly after Taillow, but its eyes were locked on the pokemon.

Taillow stayed at her current altitude and circled around. She didn't have any orders--attack or not?

Terrain: A withered old tree. The ground around it consists of dirt and pebbles. Farther off, there is some short grass.

“Go away, you understood!?” shouted the girl to the Pokemon that was so blatantly staring at them. Taillow ruffled her feathers in menace, landing back on her shoulders, and Rattata growled quietly. He would have attacked as well, if the Pokemon had been in his reach. Both Pokemon didn’t know why their owner was so angry the black bird, but they thought there had to be a reason, and the fact that such antics were completely irrational never grazed their minds.

Thus, they kept staring threateningly at the Murkrow as it stared back at them.

“Go away!” Meria cried once more.

They obliged. The murkrow hopping along the ground and leveling a glare at Taillow suddenly whipped its head towards Meria. "Go!" it screamed back. Then it was gone, taking off flying after its companion..

No sooner had Taillow chased off the pokemon did yet another murkrow touch down on the branch. It was accompanied by a pudgy honchkrow that landed somewhat clumsily, but composed itself and took to a moment of preening. They too would stare at Meria, but, perhaps disinterested, just as quickly turned their interest towards the two birds that had fled. As if giving a great yawn, Honchkrow stretched its beak to its limit. From it came cackling with such vigor that its chest rattled with the effort.

Meria would feel Rattata shift in her arms and Taillow ruffle her feathers. Both were ready to fight if need be.

Already Kara was coming back Meria's way. Stonesong wasn't with her, but the two murkrows were.

Honchkrow laughed on, grating, loud, and malicious.

Meria felt the tension raise and feelings of helplessness started to poke at her mind. They were… ambushing them, weren’t they? The big, black bird looked threatening, although it moved awkwardly, and the smaller Murkrow at its side made her think about something nasty ready to happen any time.

The caress of Taillow’s ruffled feathers on her check told her she was feeling the same, and Rattata was growling almost like a dog. No to mention the company that was following Kara… definitely, something was starting to go wrong.

She started to proceed slowly, taking her Pokedex out to check how much she had to worry about the small flock. She could run, if the situation required it, but Kara was probably going to hold her ground with Stonesong, and that could make things even worse.

((WE'RE GOING TO GET THROUGH THIS TOGETHER, GEENWEEN.))

"This murkrow is male and level 6. He is trained. This murkrow is female and level 5. She is trained," the DEX said about the two pokemon following Kara. As for the ones in the tree: "This murkrow is female and level 5. She is trained. This honchkrow is male and level 20. He is trained."

"Meria! Don't attack! Don't hurt them!" Kara shouted after Meria and broke into a run to get back all the faster. But even if the murkrows presumably weren't a threat, Kara still seemed extremely distressed about their appearance. When she reached Meria and slowed down, the two murkrows tailing Kara landed on either of the cloaked woman's shoulders. She didn't bother to shake them off. "These doom-crows, they belong to my family. But..."

The honchkrow's laughter died off and he peered down at Kara. "Help us!" he rasped at her. "Help us help help help us."

Instinctively Kara followed the voice to its source, but she just as quickly cut her eyes towards Fleet Town as if she couldn't stand to see the larger bird. "..these don't get released unless people in my clan have been killed." It was almost as if she needed to hear the words herself to realize just how serious things were, for only then did words became more difficult to say. "The burning city--it has to be. I need to go back there." Only partially able to hide her anxety behind a serious expression, Kara finally made eye contact with Meria. "I think I'm going to have to miss your ceremony."

[YES!]

Meria quickly recalled her Pokemon. Now the Pokedex words were clear: those Pokeball belonged to Kara's family. The young trainer looked at the older one: she was worried about her. Even if...

If Kara went away now, a lot of her problems were going to be solved. She wouldn't have to worry about her behavior during the ceremony and she wasn't going to travel togheter with an assassin for the time being.

Still... Kara had helped, or wished to help, her during the whole time. Besides if someone talked with her at the burned city? Maybe they had been arrested, or they had fought against the police. Kara hadn't known who a policeman was, so she doubted the rest of her people were any different.

But they could also be in real danger as well. She couldn't help but think about the criminals who had attacked them in the destroyed city.

"I'm coming with you. But if there is danger, we need our Pokemon to be ready to battle or we won't be of any help. We have still time, we are going to go to the center and heal them. We'll be quick, don't worry."

Kara must have intended her words to be a farewell speech, for she started to head towards Fleet Town at a determined pace the moment she finished talking. However, she hadn't expected Meria to accompany her; just the line "I'm coming with you" was enough to make Kara hesitate and turn around.

"Yes. We should be prepared for conflict," Kara conceded, though not happily. She scrutinized Meria as if the offer to tag along was a lie. "The doom-crows will lead us back to my clan when we're ready, but are you sure about this? You're opposed to everything I am--why help others like me?" Kara wiped at her face as she asked. Fortunately, she got most of the blood off this time--enough to stop looking like a sacrifice-happy cult member, anyway.

Geenween hadn't any hesitation in answering the woman, because it was what she had had to worry for every second she had passed with her in the last period.

"Because you have lived far too isolated to know how the world goes right now. You don't even know what a policeman, for example, is and you have put your life, and may I add, that of you comrades, at risk just for this. You can't go around murdering people at will, because sooner or later they'll find you and your people and it won't be pretty.

"If your people are used to do the same, it means there's the possibility they have been caught, but by the police, not just some random criminal. If you barge in and fight, you'll die or be jailed as well."

She let out a sigh. She didn't want to be blunt, and had avoided question Kara's ways until then, but she couldn't ignore the woman was a public danger right then. No one could and if they discovered her... if they discovered there was an entire town of people like her...

"I'm coming, but I'm not saying I'll help you now. I'm going to see what is happening and if it's what I said, I won't intervenee, but I won't stop you either if you don't want to follow my advice. I can't make myself an enemy of my people. If it's something different, though, then I'll give an hand where I can, because you helped me back when we were in town.

"It's all I can promise you. Are we going to this center now?"
