Title: Scarlet Fever Is In
Anthrax - April 12, 2006 09:43 PM (GMT)
On his way out of the lab, Anthrax sees Scarlet. She immediately flounces over to him and greets him with a happy smile and the command of "BATTLE"
"Uh, Scarlet, I'll battle you, but you really have to be less pushy..."

To this, she had nothing to say but "Meh! FIGHT!" and threw out her pokemon of choice. A Bellsprout quickly emerged, wriggled in place, and stared blankly at Anthrax.
Anthrax - April 13, 2006 12:45 PM (GMT)
Anthrax stared at Scarlet and her bellsprout.
"Bellsprout, Scarlet? I can still win. You always get too angry to focus on the battle properly. Go, Atlantis! Show Little Miss Scarlet here what you're made of!"
A confused looking squirtle pops out and stares blankly at the bellsprout.
"Yeah, Atlantis, tackle it, then, if you succeed use Tail Whip. I'm counting on you."[/COLOR]

Scarlet Fever simply made a face at Anthrax. The battle had just began, and she had no reason to be angry yet; confident that she would be victorious, Scarlet remained calm as she delivered her orders. "He's charging? Okay, watch him come, get out of the way, and Vine Whip him when he's close!"
Atlantis nodded at Anthrax's orders and charged directly at the scrawny flower pokemon. But although thin and slightly slower than a Squirtle, Bellsprout made up for her disadvantage with an astounding amount of flexibility; as Atlantis came in for the Tackle she suddenly swayed to one side and, once a very surprised Atlantis rushed past her, the Bellsprout swung around and struck him in the back with one of her roots.
Although there was a shell to protect him, Atlantis still cried out in pain at the lash and whirled around to better see his opponent. Conisdering that Tackle to be a failure, he kept his distance and did not use Tail Whip.
Bellsprout straightened out. Although her body was facing the other way, she twisted her head around to keep a close eye on Squirtle while the rest of her body turned around. It would be slow-going--although Bellsprout's roots kept her steady in the ground, lifting them out of the ground and turning towards Squirtle without losing her balance was difficult, especially with the slight winds.
Scarlet Fever noticed the slowness and called out to Bellsprout, growing irritated. "Hey, come on, hurry...! When he comes in close, you Vine Whip again!"
Anthrax - April 13, 2006 07:22 PM (GMT)
"Okay, Atlantis, I want you to rush her as she's running towards you! Go in with a Tackle and Tail Whip as you come out of it!"
Anthrax, hoping that he would beat Scarlet - especially after claiming that he could, even with the type disadvantage - watched the battle coolly and calmly, showing no signs of being phased.
"You know the deal, Atlantis! I'm counting on you to win, or at least to try your best!"
Indigo - April 13, 2006 09:36 PM (GMT)
Bellsprout blinked. She had only been told to Vine Whip Atlantis when he came in close, not actually go out there and hit him. Still, she waved a vine at Atlantis. It didn't do much of anything, considering the Squirtle was well out of her range.
Likewise, Atlantis faltered. Since Bellsprout was not running at him, he didn't know if he should rush at her like Anthrax ordered and ultimately stayed where he was.
Both pokemon stared at each other in an awkward silence. Bellsprout, still swaying in the wind and trying to keep balance as she lifted her roots to turn her body around, had just about finished turning towards Atlantis.
"Okay, enough defensive play. Charge Atlantis now!" Scarlet ordered. "And Vine Whip him!"
Anthrax - April 14, 2006 11:45 AM (GMT)
Having misread Scarlet, Anthrax thinks for a while. The battle would be hard, considering that Scarlet had a type advantage and wasn't some newbie trainer hot out of the lab.
"Okay, Atlantis, move in for a Tackle but at the last second Tail Whip the vines and Tackle quickly!"
Hoping that Atlantis understood, Anthrax stares calmly into Scarlet's eyes.
Indigo - April 14, 2006 03:59 PM (GMT)
The Bellsprout ran forward to the best of her ability, while Atlantis rushed to do the same and increased speed so it appeared he would be Tackling.
This was her signal. Bellsprout lifted one of her roots to swing at Atlantis as he came in, but at the last second Atlantis swerved to the left, jumped, and whipped his tail to block the incoming root.
Atlantis landed quickly. Wasting no time he immediately turned, went running at Bellsprout, and again looked like he would Tackle. Bellsprout, more than a little startled at the defensive move that she had just witnessed, believed that it was just another Tail Whip trick and jerked backward so that Atlantis would go flying harmlessly past her when he attempted it again.
Instead of suddenly swinging to the left and lashng out with his tail, Atlantis went through with his Tackle this time. Bellsprout cried out quite loudly as she hit the ground; Atlantis's Tail Whip, although it had been used to block vines, still startled Bellsprout and consequently lowered the plant pokemon's defense.
Anthrax - April 14, 2006 04:57 PM (GMT)
"Good going Atlantis! We're going to go all-out on her now and Tackle her before she comes 'round!"
The battle had taken a turn for the better, Anthrax decided, and looked on with a smile.
"This is where you get angry, Scarlet,"

Indigo - April 14, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)
Between the calm that Anthrax displayed, his words, and the success of Atlantis' last move, Scarlet was indeed growing angry. "Funny how you never have anything useful to say," she growled back at Anthrax. "How about you just battle?"
And by focusing her growing irritation on Anthrax, Scarlet had forgotten to give her Bellsprout orders.
Out of instinct and common sense, Bellsprout tried to get her bearings and pick herself up off the ground before Atlantis came and Tackled her, but she moved too slowly and Atlantis got in another hit.
Laying flat on the ground, Bellsprout stared dazedly at the sky. She wasn't unconscious yet, but she was nearly there.
More than a little embarassed at this point, Scarlet Fever's strategy consisted of "Get up, dammit!"
Anthrax - April 14, 2006 10:22 PM (GMT)
"Atlantis, you've got a perfect chance here! While she's all dazed, tackle her! Thatta boy!"
Watching the battle calmly, Anthrax allows himself to smile.
"Yeah, see, Scarlet, I only do it to annoy you, and guess what! It works!"
Indigo - April 15, 2006 12:05 AM (GMT)
To say the battle ended dramatically would be a blatant lie.
With Scarlet fuming and Atlantis closing in, Bellsprout closed her eyes, muttered some small curse in her own language, and passed out after Atlantis once again slammed into her.
Sullen and disbelieving, Scarlet Fever recalled her Bellsprout and flashed a glare at Anthrax. "Remind me to beat the crap outta you later," she grumbled as she abruptly walked away. "I got other things to do for now, but I'll be checking up on you."
Reward time! Give Atlantis +3 EXP points and lower his health percentage to 60%. Also, you may now post on Route 1 (Docklands) or Route 3 (Fleet Town).
Suddenly Prof. Willow's shouting could be heard from inside the lab, but it was incoherent to those standing outside.
Anthrax - April 15, 2006 12:33 AM (GMT)
"Haha, I knew we'd win, Atlantis. I usually do. I wonder what she's got to do, exactly... Anyway, good boy!"
Humming as he walks away, he seems to forget the confused squirtle sitting on the ground. Remembering the poor little pokemon about five minutes later, he jogs back to find him drawing on the ground.
"Er, sorry, Atlantis."
This time Atlantis gets picked up and carried to prevent further neglect.
