Title: ...well, Time For A Little Beatdown!
firewater - May 24, 2008 03:01 AM (GMT)
....Damn....
Hey, "Little Brother", so what happened to you- what the heck is up with you about leaving early?"
I don't get what you want- but I see the pokeball in your hand. So, if you'll introduce me to the... thing inside, me and Spiral will easily beat you.
Well, now you've met my brother- he's just as smart, just as capable.... but has been better than me in most things since we began High School. Meh, I don't really care but I am just ready to beat the crap out of him. "But Spiral, just ignore the fool- you and I'll take him and we'll do it with no problems. Instead of training on a rock or tree, we'll start our training with a real opponet- so are you ready?". Knowing the inediable question, I turn to Christopher and ask
"How much are we betting shrimp?" I just want to get this over with- Spiral and I have training to do.
Malice Aforethought - May 24, 2008 03:09 AM (GMT)
Christopher shrugs and smirks at you. "Well, so much for pleasantries. We're feeling awfully direct today, aren't we? Not direct enough to come along with the rest of us, so I won't say I'm not surprised by this... but whatever. If it's a battle you and Miss Piggy over there want, it's a battle you'll get." He tosses his Pokéball and reveals a small, shaggy purple creature. It has a puffy, pouty, almost catlike face, and a thick, bushy tail that stands straight up in the air. A white stripe runs down its back. As soon as its paws touch the ground a fairly unpleasant odor fills the air and your nostrils; Spiral sneezes and glares at the strange Pokémon that dares offend his sense of smell.
"This here is my new Stunky, Nox, and she's more than a match for your Spoink. Let's see... 100 Kuts says I can beat you. And I know I can, David Michael. Just like I always do." He smirks and takes the bills out of his wallet, waving them at you to show that he has them.

firewater - May 24, 2008 03:21 AM (GMT)
Dude, now I know you had problems with showers while we were in school, but seriously, that is the smelliest pokemon i've ever seen- what's next a Muk?" but 100 Kuts is fine with me, you owe me 10 dollars anyway.
...er What now- I know Stunkies or whatever they are called are Poison and Dark typed pokemon. So even if Spiral had any Psychic moves, they wouldn't work on it. However, with all of this concrete, there could be something that I could do... "Spiral, I want you to move as fast as possible, don't stop until you slam into her. Then I want you to try and smash Nox through the sidewalk. Then jump as High as you can and jump on her back.
"AND FOR YOUR INFORMATION Spiral is a guy...."
ok, I really can't lose to this jerk at all.. or get ahead of him either...
Malice Aforethought - May 24, 2008 03:40 AM (GMT)
Unlike you and Spiral, Christopher appears quite undaunted by his Pokémon's foul odor. "Whatever, whatever. C'mon, Nox. Let's show 'em what we're made of! Start off with Poison Gas, and then use Focus Energy while he's gagging on the floor. Then Scratch him up!"
Nox immediately obliges, turning around so that her backside faces you and Spiral. Spiral, for his part, is a little confused by your orders--all he's really familiar with is Splash. But he's willing to trust you, and so hops toward his foe with a determined look on his face, tiny fists raised in the air... and gets a snout full of a grayish, absolutely horrid-smelling gas. He stops where he is, coughing and gagging and trying not to breathe the noxious stuff in. He doesn't quite manage to hold his breath, however, and the gas fills his lungs, poisoning him. While it stays fairly low to the ground and doesn't affect you quite the same way, you can definitely smell the increased stench; even Christopher can't help but notice, and he coughs and turns away slightly.
Not to be deterred, Spiral struggles upward valiantly and resumes his forward bounce, each hop carrying him above the gas so he doesn't have to inhale any more. He comes down on Nox at last, and while he isn't particularly heavy the Stunky's head still snaps downward under the weight and slams her chin into the pavement. Nox hisses and picks herself up, her eyes flashing as she concentrates on focusing her energy into her paws.
Spiral tries again, springing up with all his strength and coming back down on Nox's head again. He isn't strong enough to "smash her through the pavement", but it hurts rather a lot nonetheless. Screeching angrily, Nox stands as quickly as she can and rushes Spiral, her small claws tearing into his short purple fur. When at last she backs away she has left several stinging, bleeding cuts across his belly, although a little of her own blood trickles from her mouth due to quick and painful contact with the cement.
"That's the way to stick it to 'em, Nox!" Christopher coughs, still smiling. "Keep Scratching him!"
Stat Updates: Spiral is poisoned. Nox's critical hit ratio has risen by 1.

firewater - May 24, 2008 03:57 AM (GMT)
Ok, so I'm in a little hole right now. Watching Nox move quickly towards Spiral, claws glowing all I can do is freeze for a few seconds. How is it that he got so lucky on me, I mean...... ARRGHHH STOP COMPLAINING!
Anyway, Spiral I really need you to be strong for me. Simply bounce over her scratches again, and keep on bouncing on her head!
But that poison is a toxic time bomb... so I need to hurry this up as fast as I can.
Really, that stench is getting worse around here, but all I can do is endure it for right now. No pressure Spiral, just keep on doing your thing, Bounce until she stops moving. Heh, I'm not worried Christopher, just hope Nox doesn't get any brain damage from this!
Malice Aforethought - May 24, 2008 04:13 AM (GMT)
"Heh, I'm not worried, big bro. She's got a pretty tough skull, thanks. We'll see how Spiral is doing after that lungful of gas, though, won't we?"
Nox sprints forward and leaps at Spiral, prepared to scratch him again. Spiral is in the air before she can touch him, however, and comes down for a crash landing on her head. Spiral bounces backward as fast as he can, but Nox still manages a retaliatory swipe at his hindquarters before he is completely out of reach. The purple piglet stumbles and yelps in pain, but manages to catch himself before he falls. That stumble is still enough for time for Nox to get to her feet properly and charge him once more, this time ripping into his back with relish. It takes a great deal of effort for Spiral to struggle away, and as he does so you can see that he is panting heavily. He is beginning to tire just a little bit, and the poison can't be helping.
Nox runs at Spiral a third time, and Spiral manages to collect himself fast enough to bounce out of the way again. Nox is ready for him this time, however; thinking herself quite clever, she rolls onto her back as fast as she can, claws pointed upward in preparation for some serious scratching. The effect is not quite what she desires: when Spiral lands he hits her stomach fairly hard and knocks the wind out of her. She flails her limbs as she tries to regain her breath; she only lands a few hits as a result. Spiral wriggles off of her and back to his place closer to you, still panting. Despite his poisoning, though, his breathing currently sounds a lot better than the winded Nox.
End Stats: Spiral is poisoned. Nox's critical hit rate +1.

firewater - May 24, 2008 04:20 AM (GMT)
That's awsome Spiral, you did great there. Pulling out the Pokedex, I decide to scan Nox for a quick second. Meanwhile, Spiral turns and waits on me. so I decide on something.
Ok Spiral, I want you to think of the most random things that you can, make them as confusing as possible. Then try and transfer them to Nox's mind from yours. If that doesn't work just keep on bouncing on Nox's head. If she tries to scratch you again then try to bounce on her head again. Now remember, don't stop until she stops moving... in other words, don't kill her but knock her unconcious....
"See brother, I've always have been more creative- but try and explain just what made you leave me at the airport. Were you the one who lost my luggage?"
still looking around, I feel like there are small wisps of odor in the air... so is that just me, or is it something else?
Malice Aforethought - May 24, 2008 04:44 AM (GMT)
"I didn't lose your luggage, David Michael. Hey, you can blame that on the airline. Besides, it looks like you got it back eventually, right? No harm done. And anyway, you're a grown man. Don't tell me you need Mommy and Daddy and little Christopher to hold your hand whenever you're in a strange place?" Christopher throws back his head and laughs. "Whatever, baby brother. Don't worry about any attempts to mess with your head, Nox! A little Spoink can't hurt you. Heck, an Alakazam probably couldn't. Take a minute to catch your breath and then keep tearing into him with Scratch!"
Spiral screws up his face and concentrates as hard as he can, really he does, but he just doesn't quite seem proficient enough with his psychic powers to send any confusing images Nox's way. The Stunky sneers at her opponent, rolling back over onto her belly and taking a few deep breaths to calm herself and refill her lungs. When she feels collected enough she gets to her feet and runs forward, leaping onto Spiral and scratching furiously at his chest once again. The attack hits a lot harder as she digs into the wounds she has already opened up; Spiral, caught by surprise, squeals and tries to fight his way out from under the skunk's blows. At last managing to get back up onto his tail, Spiral leaps up and lands squarely on Nox's head again. Blood dribbles down onto the pavement as he does so, and it is obvious that he is beginning to flag a little more, but Nox comes away looking just a little dazed. She shakes her head vigorously.
Hopping forward once more, Spiral jumps onto his target's head once again. This gets another hiss from Nox, who has to shake her head once more before she can lash out at the retreating Spoink. She only manages one solid hit to his bottom before he is out of reach again, but the cut does look fairly deep.
The Pokédex bleeps for a moment before responding in a monotone voice. "Stunky, the Skunk Pokémon. Stunky are known for the terrible-smelling liquid they can spray from beneath their tails when they feel threatened. A healthy dose of this spray does not go away for at least twenty-four hours. This Stunky is female and level five. It is owned.
"Spoink, the Bounce Pokémon. Spoink always carry a pearl on their heads; this pearl amplifies their psychic powers. They bounce on their springlike tails constantly. The shock of this bouncing keeps their hearts beating. This Spoink is male and level five and knows the attack Splash. It is owned."
End Stats: Spiral is poisoned. Nox's critical hit rate +1.

firewater - May 24, 2008 04:55 AM (GMT)
Heck, I'm not complaining- but you could have helped a bit I mean, if we'd switched, I would have waited for you to find your things. Anyway, I did find it.
Sure, it's clear that Stunky has the advantage in attacks and strength, but it doesn't mean we are gonna quit! Ok, Spiral we can't quit yet. I want you this time to jump into the air, and this time stay on her back after you land. Then using your anger, just punch, scratch, hit, do whatever it takes to knock her down. But if she shakes you off, try something new. I want you to focus as much energy as you can in your fist. Then try to punch her. But still, that poison is going to do something soon, and those wounds aren't helping either. I've got to find a way to finish this before Spiral faints but to try another move, I need some room. Grimacing for a second, I simply look around at the rubble on the ground and try to figure out something that will help us.
Malice Aforethought - May 24, 2008 05:19 AM (GMT)
Christopher shrugs. "Hey, there was moving to be done. We had a lot of stuff to get out of that airport. No sense waiting for one sleepy guy missing one bag." He turns to Nox. "Back away when he tries to land on you, and then jump on him and just keep scratching! You've got him, Nox, I know it!"
It takes Spiral a minute to act this time. He is panting even more now, wheezing, even, as the poison continues to work its way through his body. When he finally springs forward it is with considerably less enthusiasm, and it isn't difficult for Nox to avoid him. Her subsequent scratches are delivered with noticeably less gusto as well. They still leave their mark, however; a red latticework of cuts and scratches covers Spiral's chest now.
Unable to hang onto her back, Spiral tries to carry out his orders as best he can from underneath Nox. His little arms flail around wildly, pummelling Nox's face with tiny fists. This does a lot less damage than landing forcibly on the Stunky's head, but it is enough to force Nox to pull back, hissing and spitting. Spiral stands shakily, bouncing more slowly as he breathes deeply.
End Stats: Spiral is poisoned. Nox's critical hit rate +1.

firewater - May 24, 2008 05:33 AM (GMT)
Ok. I was royally screwed, as while Spiral could still move, he wasn't gonna be fast enough to hit Nox with jumping on her again. So with desperate times, calls for desperate measures...
"Ok Spiral, I want you to try and move as many rocks and things as you can off the ground, using what psychic energy you have and hit Nox with them. But if you can't manage that, then jump as high as you can and land on her head. Don't quit man, we've almost won"
Well, for someone who says that an Alakazam couldn't hurt Nox, Spiral has done a good number on her. But I know one thing, and that is we don't quit. but, how can I hit Nox?, if this plan doesn't work, Spiral will collapse from poison...
But hey, Spiral has a new move, we just have to work on it a bit...
Malice Aforethought - May 24, 2008 05:51 AM (GMT)
"Keep pressing the attack, Nox, wear him down! It won't be long now..." An excited light gleams in your brother's eyes. Clearly he thinks that victory is not far off.
And press the attack Nox does. She is still tiring, yes, but she runs forward doggedly all the same, then skids to a halt and tears into Spiral's body yet again. Chunks of purple fur fly off now, leaving the skin underneath bleeding and exposed. Crying out in pain, Spiral wriggles and writhes as he tries to get free. When it doesn't work and it looks like the only way Nox will stop her scratching is if she gets too tired to continue, Spiral grits his teeth and does his best to carry out his orders anyway.
Willow Town's meteor accident had left quite a lot of the city in ruin, but there was not that much rubble to speak of by the Community Center; by this time, much of what might have been usable in some sort of attack has been cleared away. Spiral does manage to lift a few large pebbles lying around, but cannot yet do much with them; they simply levitate forward a few feet before clattering to the ground, far from their mark. Even if he had been able to bring them far enough to hit Nox, her constant onslaught of scratches is wrecking his concentration. When she finishes this latest attack she is breathing heavily, but not as badly as Spiral; it takes a lot of effort for the Spoink to get back up, and the wound on his chest looks quite nasty.
"Almost there, Nox, almost there! Keep it up!" Christopher shouts, grinning now.
End Stats: Spiral is poisoned. Nox's critical hit rate +1.

firewater - May 24, 2008 06:00 AM (GMT)
....Damn, its over.... I Failed Spiral....no....no...NO WE CAN DO THIS!!!
Looking at Chris's face, he and I both knew that the end was near. But it was so easy to quit, how could I let myself do this at all? If I quit, I'd just be quitting myself, but what could I do. I finally decide to give it a final chance, hey if I lose, then I'll at least do it with my head held high.
"Spiral, you know, that thing, has been a jerk to you this whole time, and what we've been doing hasn't worked that well. Well both of us are Frustrated at this point, so let's give it our all. Use your frustration to power you, do whatever you can to make her stop moving! Make her remember you even if you faint! Make her have nightmares, What do we have to lose, except money we've been doing great, so even if you lose I'm still proud. So use your anger for power- Frustration Attack NOW!
Still mad as we are about to lose, I glared at Chris, while he was smiling smugly and all I can do is glare at him- hoping that even if we did lose, we'd make sure that he wouldn't forget us again.
Malice Aforethought - May 24, 2008 06:13 AM (GMT)
Spiral does appear to be quite frustrated by now, and while he doesn't know how to use the Frustration attack he gives Nox the best approximation of it he can muster. When the Stunky barrels towards him again he's ready for her, punching and thrashing for all he's worth. Nox is taken aback by the furious attack and ducks, trying to shield her aching head from the blows by covering it with her paws; it doesn't work particularly well, though, and Spiral continues pummelling away. He draws back at last, gasping for breath but with angry adrenaline still coursing through his veins. Nox tries her best to turn her injured whimper into a vicious snarl and she lashes out again, digging into the Spoink once more. Blood and fur fly everywhere at first, but her swipes become somewhat more lethargic as she goes; the blows are still painful, but Nox can't quite muster the energy to attack as wildly as she could before. Spiral thrashes away at her again as soon as she stops, the sound of his ragged wheezing audible over her pained squeaks. The skunk Pokémon tries to fight back, swinging out and managing to catch him a few more times, but nothing more.
End Stats: Spiral is poisoned. Nox's critical hit rate +1.

firewater - May 24, 2008 06:22 AM (GMT)
That was exellent! watching Christopher's mouth drop was very satisfying as well as Nox's attempts to shield herself. However, I had to adress the problem at hand. Spiral wasn't as mad as before, and I suspected that the adrenaline was the only thing keeping him up at this point. However, I decided to try and capitalize again.
"Spiral, again- leap on her head, then give her another barrage, as hard as you can, we've got this now!"
Spiral turns and grins, then bounces forward, determination still burning in his eyes.
Malice Aforethought - May 24, 2008 06:41 AM (GMT)
"What, you think you've turned this around just because of a few punches? Ha! Fat chance, David Michael," Christopher laughs, although if you looked closely you could see that the ferocity of that last attack had him ever so slightly worried. He shakes it off quickly, though, and calls out, "End this, Nox! Scratch away for all you're worth!"
Snarling, the Stunky moves forward again, claws at the ready. Still feeling rather pumped, Spiral attempts to jump up and land on Nox one last time. Surely she wouldn't be able to avoid it this time... but, despite his surge of energy, Spiral has trouble mustering an appropriately high jump. Given their close proximity he does manage to hit her, but only on the nose; this only causes Nox to draw back and yelp slightly, and she begins what is sure to be her last barrage of scratches. And, sure enough, it is. The attack itself is weak, but Spiral has lost so much blood and has grown so weak from the earlier Poison Gas attack that these last few swipes finish him off. The Spoink gives one last squeal, sighs and closes his eyes. He can't keep going any further.
Christopher crows gleefully as he sees your new Pokémon go down. "All right, Nox! That's the way! I knew you could do it!" He reaches down and pats the panting and gasping Nox on the head as she trots back over to his feet; she churrs happily despite her tiredness, proud of herself. "That's right, girl. No surprise there." He looks up at you, sneering as he finishes the rest of his statement. "No surprise at all. Isn't that right, David Michael? You've come in second again, just like you always do."
Stat Update: Spiral has fainted.
End Stats: Spiral has fainted and gained 3 EXP. He is now at 0% health and 3/5 EXP.
firewater - May 24, 2008 02:06 PM (GMT)
Well, we gave it a good run
Wincing at the final blow, I immediately rush over to Spiral's side. The small Spoink had all sorts of cuts, and except for the two deeper ones, I really couldn't tell just how many there were. Picking him up I simply pull out a potion and spray him liberally with it, aiming more for the more serious cuts and bruises. Then I begin to talk to him "Spiral, it wasn't your fault that you lost. It was mine, as if I'd been able to know about that poison gas, you wouldn't have been unprepared for it, and we would have won. Anyway, you did a fine job."
"Turning to my brother and the grinning Nox, I simply put my hand out. "Hey, you beat me this time... but you aren't gonna get that lucky again. But do you know where to find a healing station? Spiral needs it, and Nox proably needs it too." and here's the money
Passing him the money, I simply move down the street. I figure that bouncing that Spiral did would pass for a move, until we got an actual move he could use.
Malice Aforethought - May 24, 2008 08:08 PM (GMT)
"Well, glad to see you're being a good sport, David Michael. Who knows? Keep up that cheery disposition and maybe someday you'll actually be able to catch up to me for once." He accepts your money and then holds out Nox's Pokéball and recalls her. "Healing, huh... well, I can tell you that that potion won't do much on its own. It's not strong enough to revive a Pokémon that's been knocked out." Sure enough, while the mist from your potion does accelerate Spiral's natural healing processes and close up the nasty open wounds on his chest it does not cause the Spoink to wake up. "He might wake up on his own eventually, but I checked my Pokénav earlier and saw that there was a clinic of some sort a few blocks away. You got one, right? Check yours and find it on the map. It's not a Pokémon center, but they might be able to help you. There's also Professor Willow's old lab, but from what I hear that's pretty much decimated. Dunno why the 'nav still says that's a viable healing place." Christopher turns around with a wave and walks away. "Now if you'll excuse me, Nox and I have some Pokémon to catch. See you around, baby brother."
Update: You have lost 100 Kuts and one potion. Spiral is at 100% health but is still unconcious.
firewater - May 24, 2008 08:18 PM (GMT)
"Whatever Chris, I'll prove it to you at some point..."
Looking around, I watch my brother's retreating back and try to decide which place would be better to heal at. A clinic would be good, but I don't know what would be cheaper to do. Yet, the lab sounds better since it is well, a lab meaning that it would be better for pokemon. So it's decided.
"I'm going to the lab"
Now I just hope I can get in, and find something to help Spiral....
Malice Aforethought - May 25, 2008 12:08 AM (GMT)
A quick glance at the Pokénav or question posed to the locals would inform you that the lab is but a few blocks away and not difficult to find, situated at the top of a nearby hill. It should take you only a few minutes to arrive there if you walk quickly.
firewater - May 25, 2008 01:00 AM (GMT)
Picking up my Pokenav, I quickly go to the search function and attempt to find directions. However due to my excitement and concern, I decided to start walking as the thing loaded up. Ok, once I heal Spiral, we'll be on our way! I quickly try to pick a direction as I needed to get Spiral healed as fast as possible. After all, who knows what could be around the next corner...
Malice Aforethought - May 25, 2008 03:22 PM (GMT)
Lucky for you, the direction you happen to walk in is the correct one. The map loads up and shows you that, sure enough, in another few minutes you will arrive at the hill with Professor Willow's lab atop it.
firewater - May 25, 2008 10:59 PM (GMT)
After hiking up that hill, I quickly take a small breather and look at the police cars and tape surrounding the area. Looking around for anyone else, I quickly decide to go inside the lab, and attempt to find something to heal Spiral with- whether it be discarded items, or even an actual healing machine.
Malice Aforethought - May 27, 2008 10:54 PM (GMT)
The lab is not as "decimated" as Christopher claimed it was, but it is most certainly not open for business as far as one can tell from the police tape surrounding it and general lack of activity. Before you can slip inside, however, someone grabs your arm. Spinning around quickly, you can see that you have been caught by a rather tired-looking policeman. He squints at you through his sleepy eyes and barks, "Hey, kid. Where do you think you're going?"
firewater - May 27, 2008 11:01 PM (GMT)
I really don't have time for this...
"Sir, I'm really am just going to the lab in order to find something to heal my Spoink with. I wasn't going to do anything illegal, I was just going to find something to heal it with. However, if you have something to help me with, like a Revive or something it would be much approved."
I then decide to look at my pokedex- if only to see how I could upgrade it some more. But waiting for the policeman's reply I only hope for the best.
Malice Aforethought - May 27, 2008 11:12 PM (GMT)
It takes the officer's tired brain a moment to work through what you've just said, and when he has processed it at last he merely grunts. "There's a healing machine in the lab, though you're going to have to run it yourself." He takes out a key, unlocks the front door and allows you in. "Straight ahead to the back. And hurry up, I can't let you hang around here all day. I'll be watching you, boy, so don't try and take anything or duck out anywhere." Just as the officer said, if you were to peek through the open door you would be able to see a large machine sitting in the back of the disheveled room with a panel for healing Pokémon and several buttons to push. It does not appear to be turned on.
The Pokédex does not appear to have an "Upgrade" option available, but it does present you with the following options for research and customization.
-Advanced Statistics
-Trainer Database
-DEXwork
-Games
-Customize Pokédex
firewater - May 27, 2008 11:27 PM (GMT)
"Thanks" Looking around, I see the door wide open, and the cop appears to simply turn away. Then I run towards the door, and as I enter the space, I quickly move the pokedex to the "Customize Pokedex" option and click on the option. Arriving at the Machine, all I can do is look at it. At this point, all I can figure out is that I have to put Spiral's pokeball into one of the pokeball holders...
Malice Aforethought - May 28, 2008 12:12 AM (GMT)
The officer nods at your thanks and appears to turn away, but continues to watch you out of the corner of his eye.
Selecting the "Customize Pokédex" option gives you the following submenu.
-User Profile
-Colors and Themes
-Text Options
-Set Language
-Customize Navigation
-Adjust Volume
-Pokédex Personality
-Restore System Defaults
The healing machine does indeed have slots for you to place Pokéballs in, but doesn't appear to offer any sort of help beyond that... unless you count the "On/Off" switch you notice near its base as helpful.
firewater - May 28, 2008 12:18 AM (GMT)
Moving my hand to the On/Off Switch, i simply wait for the result. Afterwards, I quickly click on Pokedex Personality, and wait to see what pops up. I realize that the cop still doesn't trust me, and I notice his looking back at me. Well, as everything seems to have stopped, I looked around the lab and waited on the machine.
Malice Aforethought - May 28, 2008 12:45 AM (GMT)
In a few seconds the machine whirrs to life, its main screen lighting up and a few lights on the Pokéball panel flashing. Two buttons next to the panel--a large green one reading "HEAL" and a smaller red one reading "RESTART"--flash as well, the light in the red button dying down after a moment or two but the green one continuing to glow dully.
The Pokédex's screen changes and a long message and accompanying list of options is displayed.

I'm gonna go with Josh...
Scrolling down towards "Josh" I simply wait for the Pokedex to change its tune. Next, I finally push the "Heal" button, and as Spiral's Pokeball glows brightly, I simply point my Pokedex at his ball, to meet Josh I suppose...
"So let's see what you or how you are gonna act... I'm going to be with you for a long time..."
Malice Aforethought - May 28, 2008 12:57 AM (GMT)
((Just to let you know, you're kind of jumping around a little... make sure you actually say that you put the ball on the machine, press the switch, etc., and let me handle what the machines do.))
A progress bar appears on the machine's monitor, indicating the amount of time remaining before Spiral is fully healed. The ball glows softly as the machine works its mechanical magic on the unconscious Pokémon inside.
Uploading Josh... is now displayed on the Pokédex's screen; after a few moments the upload finishes and you are asked Keep default name 'Josh'? YES/NO. Pointing the Pokédex at Spiral's ball accomplishes nothing, as the device is still waiting for your response.

Sweatdropping for a second, I quickly press yes on the Pokedex menu. Waiting for it to load, I was willing to wait for the Pokedex to finish loading for a bit. Whew, we can start training soon... As the menu finally finishes loading, I again point it at Spiral's ball, if only to find out what this guy is like before we leave. Hey, I may not get another chance at getting to know this thing...
Malice Aforethought - May 28, 2008 03:52 AM (GMT)
((Sorry to keep nagging you like this; I don't mean to hassle you. But "sweatdropping" is an animé-style behavior and not generally something you see in an RP. I'll shut up now, I promise.))
Having completed its personality overhaul, the Pokédex takes a moment to scan the area and then laughs, "Dude. There's no Pokémon in range! Wow, man, you must be, like, really buzzed or something! Haha, why don't you try moving me within range of an actual Pokémon?"
A quick glance at the progress bar reveals that it has filled up and reached 100%. The machine beeps and its panel gives a few quick, bright flashes to let you know that it has finished patching Spiral up.

"Finally" Picking up Spiral's Pokeball, I quickly minimize and attatch it to the middle of the small pendant on my wrist. I then look at my pokedex, and jam it into my pocket.Smart alek, proably is blind too.... piece of junk... Walking outside, I quickly turn to the policeman and mention a quick "Thanks" before walking back towards the town.
Malice Aforethought - May 28, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
The police officer yawns and calls after you, "I've let you go this time, boy, but next time use the clinic instead of sneaking around a crime scene. Got it?" He steps inside to turn off the machine you left on and then exits again, locking the door behind him and grumbling about kids these days.
Nothing has changed when you arrive back in Willow Town proper, except for the fact that the few people walking around the streets are different. Christopher is nowhere in sight.
Update: Spiral is fully restored.

...I knew I'd forgotten something...Wincing at the slam of the door behind me, I decide to send Spiral out, just to see how he feels." Hey Spiral, how are you feeling?" "All I was going to say is that you did your best at such a disadvantage. But what I want you to do now is Bounce as fast and as High as you can, try to keep up with me- but still bounce down on the ground powerfully, imagine the feeling of Nox's head underneath, and continue to bounce. But whenever you get tired, just tell me and I'll return you- meanwhile, our adventure starts now!" Turning to my Pokenav, I turn the thing on, and search for where I could go from here. I wanted to not only get some training, but to catch a few more pokemon. But they'd have to want it- as I was only going to have six of them if I could help it...

Spiral stretches and shakes his head a little and then turns to look up at you, his eyes and snout crinkled up in what appears to be a smile. "Spoink-spoink," he squeals, and then proceeds to carry out your orders. He musters as much force as he can and springs up while remaining in place, a little snarl audible as he imagines flattening that stinky Stunky's head while he comes back down.
The Pokénav reveals that there are three ways out of Willow Town, none of which are particularly far. One road, the closest one to you--in fact, you can see it if you look ahead and to the right a little--is the one that you took from the airport. Route 3 apparently leads to the north, and the path leading to it is about one block west of where you stand now; heading a block or so in the other direction, past the hill and Willow's lab, will take you to Route 1.

staring at the two options, i quickly decide on a choice. "Route 1 is where we are going Spiral" the reason I chose this place was that it was the most reasonable place to go, I mean if the pokemon and things were anything like route 2 in Kanto, they weren't very strong- which would lead to an easier time when it came to training. Turning to Spiral, I decide to teach him a simple move that he could learn"Spiral, that's a really good job that you are doing. Now I want you to do the same thing, but a little faster now and with as much power as you can muster. This is something that you can learn. It's called Bounce, and while we are walking, I want you to continue to jump, but I want you to focus on the power, and speed of your jumping. You just need to keep up with me, but just as well, you go as fast as you can too." "When we get to route 1, we'll work on something else... namely confusion... hopefully." Walking past the cop, I simply head on towards the Route, hoping that Spiral can keep up.

Spiral gives you a quizzical glance, not quite certain what the difference is between what you've just described and what he's already doing; isn't what he's doing right now called "bouncing"? Nevertheless he is eager to please and does his best to do as you suggested, although you don't really notice any sort of difference in his springing.
As you walk past the hill you can see the policeman watching you as he leans on what appears to be his car. In another few minutes you have completely left Willow Town behind and are walking along a slightly raised wooden path of sorts, surrounded on almost all sides by wild, open grassland as far as the eye can see.
If you do not wish to remain here, you may now post in Route 1.
