QUOTE (KingArthur @ Jun 2 2008, 02:12 PM)
An extra show tonight (BBC1 at 10:45pm) with views/profiles or whatever of the final five candidates. Pretty sure the show returns to its regular Wedenesday slot after that. smile.gif

Thanks KA.

I had no idea that this was on.

More interesting than entertaining. Though she was my personal favourite I'm happy to see Lucinda leave. I don't like the format of the final, the losing team could be scewed by one person but the other is automatically dismissed? Loved the "You're Fired" show on 2, Michael McIntyre was brilliant. laugh.gif

I love the You're Fired Show - and I agree, Michael McIntyre was hilarious!! I loved his impression of Alex laugh.gif

Lucinda did seem the odd one out and I wasn't surprised to see her go, but it's still anyone's guess who'll win.

Can't wait for next week!!

I was never sure what to make of Lucinda. I liked her, but she couldn't take leadership. Also, I was appalled at the way she has been treated by some of the other apprentice contestants.

On the whole, I was pleased she went because I think she is too decent a person for Alan sugar. i really do.

Shame on Alex in attacking Lucinda in the sneaky way that he did. She did nothing wrong to voice a few anxieties after such a tough interviewing session.

As for Lee. I have grown to like him (he is a Spurs fan), but I am surprised to still see him there. That was a big lie.

Helene, I just don't like. I see that she's carried on calling her fellow competitors 'gob-shites'. Totally unprofessional.

Clare is now my favourite.

A slightly unnecessary 'extra' but I guess they want to build up to the final. When it came to the firing of Jenny C. I wonder why they ignored the whole business of her and Michael trying to bribe the shop owner not to string the other teams tennis racket?

Maybe it was just the disappointment of being the final show of a series I have thoroughly enjoyed but I didn't enjoy this as much.
Both 'campaigns' were badly flawed, I'm surprised no-one pointed out that you do not win on 0 at roulette - the house wins, all other bets lose! And though I never took to her, I did feel Helene was scuppered by Alex and his over expensive packaging.
In the end I think Lee got the job because Claire would be simply too disruptive. Great series, already looking forward to the next one. smile.gif

Well done Lee!! I had a feeling a few weeks back that he might win. I really grew to like him and admired the drive and enthusiasm that he showed in every task.

A good project manager, he was clearly popular with his team mates, is a good salesman and to my mind a worthy winner - despite the CV issue. That was a mistake, but to my mind, it's been blown out of proportion.

I'm just sad that the series has come to an end and don't have anything to watch now!! smile.gif

I would have preferred Clare to win, but Lee is a worthy winner who gave his everything to all to all the tasks.

Clearly, Alan Sugar really likes Clare. But he is a clever enough businessman to realise that she would be difficult to manage & would probably be difficult to get along with.

LOL at Alex & his interview on the chat programme afterwards. He really did not know whether or not to take credit for the perfume bottle that he knew was not his idea.

Alex clearly spoilt Helene's chances, but I really don't feel that she deserved to go any further. She was a survivor, but not an achiever or a bright spark.

Helene & Lucinda on the chat-show were hilarious. Lucinda clearly bears a grudge.

Very well done to Lee. Good to see one of the good guys winning.

I thoroughly enkoyed the entire series and look forward to the next one.

Clare mentioned on Radio 1 yesterday morning that she is going up to Birmingham next week to meet Karen (one of the interviewers from last week's task) to discuss a 'glamorous new role at the football club'.

Karen was the one that told Alan Sugar that if he didn't offer Clare a position, she would.

The Apprentice: Claire Young given better job than winner Lee McQueen

Sir Alan Sugar's rejected contestant to work for Birmingham City managing director Karren Brady

The Apprentice runner-up Claire Young has landed her first job since losing out in the hit BBC show – and she’ll be earning more than winner Lee McQueen.

Birmingham City managing director Karren Brady, 39, who featured in the interview stage of the programme, has offered her a sales position.

'If you don't hire Claire, I will,’ she told Sir Alan Sugar, 61, during the interrogation process.

It's thought Claire, 28, will be earning more than the £100k salary 30-year-old Lee was awarded as his prize.

‘I couldn't ask for a better opportunity,’ she tells What’s On TV. ‘Karren Brady is a great role model. It's a great role.’

Now magazine, 23/06/08.

Fired Alex's model ambition

POUTING Apprentice reject Alex Wotherspoon is cashing in on his good looks and going back to modelling.

The 24-year Bolton lad, told Heat magazine that since being pipped to the Apprentice post by Lee McQueen, he's been hooking up modelling contacts and is hoping to be picked up by swanky designer Paul Smith.

Alex told this week's Heat magazine: "I didn’t get the job, so I thought I might as well use what I’ve got.

"So yesterday I went to see Models One, one of the top modeling agencies in London. I saw the head of the men’s division, and it was brilliant!

“They’re putting out the feelers with Thomas Pink, Paul Smith and M&S. They said that I’m a bit taller than your usual model, but because I have the profile they’re interested in me.I’m definitely going down that route now.”

Sexy Alex even said that he'd take his boxers off too and show off his buff bod like idol David Beckham.

“I’d get my pants off, but only if they money was right. I’d probably do topless for £10,000 if it's good enough for David Beckham eh? I do need to buff up a bit first, though. I’ve been going to the gym quite a bit – I have a personal trainer. You know Brad Pitt ‘s look in Fight Club? That’s what I want to look like.”

Alex, I'm disappointed.

Thinking about it, I'm not surprised. I suspect that he was really after a media career. TV presenter?

Businessman signs up with media agent

The Apprentice star Raef Bjayou would like to land his own TV show.

'I've got a media agent desperately trying to catapult me into various spheres of the media,' he told Virgin Radio.

Raef, 27, said he'd want the programme to be called The Raef Chat Show.

The businessman claimed he'd even get his kit off for the right role.

Now magazine, 24/06/08.

So Alex is not the only one.

Sir Alan Sugar retires from Amstrad but not The Apprentice
By Emily Nash

Sir Alan Sugar has stepped down as chairman of Amstrad, it emerged last night.

The Apprentice taskmaster says it was a planned move after the firm was bought by Sky in 2007 - but the entrepreneur and self-made multimillionaire insists he is not retiring.

He will continue to be involved with his other business interests, including Amshold, Amsprop, Amsair and Viglen computers. Sir Alan said: "It's the right time for me to step down.

"The past 40 years have seen Amstrad grow from a start-up business to the success story it is today, which is credit to the talented team here."

For the past 10 months, Sir Alan has worked closely with Amstrad Managing Director Alun Webber, who took over the day-to-day running of the company last year and who combines the job with his role as Sky's group director of strategic project delivery.

Sir Alan added: "Alun is the right person to build on the success we have seen. I step back knowing the company is in good hands."

Coming from a humble background as the son of an East End tailor, Sir Alan, 61, has achieved a net worth of £830million and was ranked 92nd in the 2008 Sunday Times Rich List.

He will be back on our screens in a fifth series of The Apprentice next year.

Apprentice Winner Sick On First Day

Apprentice winner Lee McQueen failed to show up for his first day working for Sir Alan Sugar.

The 30-year-old former salesman, who returned from a week in Spain with girlfriend Nicola Jellyman on Sunday, called in sick yesterday.

His absence coincided with the hottest day of the year so far.

He clinched the £100,000-a-year position from fellow finalist Claire Young last month and was set to begin work on Sir Alan's latest business venture, helping to develop, install and sell advertising on digital billboards.

After his victory, Lee said: 'I believe I won because I was Mr Consistency.

'If it had been the Premier League for example I would have been top of the table because I won more than everyone else and I consistently delivered.'

A company spokesman said: 'Lee is at home with a virus.

'He’ll be at work as soon as he is well.'

Apprentice star Claire's BB snub
By Sureka Fernando

APPRENTICE star Claire Young has revealed she turned down the chance to bitch, moan and strip off on Big Brother to try her luck with Sir Alan instead.
The 28-year-old finalist, dubbed 'the Rottweiler' for her aggressive tactics, passed auditions to win a place on Big Brother.

But she backed out because she didn't like the look of the other contestants.

"I watched one series and my friends said let's try for it, but I was the only one who got through," she boasted to Star magazine.

"I went through two rounds of interviews and then pulled out."

The Sun, 22/07/08.

I like Clare but this suggests that she cares a little more about being a celebrity than was evident on the Apprentice.

Having said that, I'm pleased she turned down BB. Clare's far too good for BB. The Apprentice was a far better vehicle for her.
