I don't know if anybody else has problems with this in their area but recently I've had.
Someone asking if we need double glazing - a quick look at the house would have answered his question.
Someone asking if we wanted to put solar panels on our roof - fella a few houses down has had some put on so obviously the sales person took a chance and called on all the neighbours.
Then this morning we had 2 Jehovah Witnesses - Now I do not mind what other people believe, after all it takes all sorts to make a world. However I do object to them trying to thrust their beliefs on others and I personally find this kind of thing particularly intrusive.
I've had to make a (polite) sign for the door, I don't like doing it but the end of the tether has been reached, very annoying.

You are not alone!!!
Yesterday, early evening, a young man offering to save me loads of money if I were to swap telephone/broadband providers. He started off, not by introducing himself or saying 'hello' but by asking me whether BT or Virgin Media were my present suppliers and would I like to tell them what to do with their expensive services.
I politely told him that I never answered personal questions, asked by strangers, at the door. He then had the cheek to tell me that he wasn't asking me personal questions and went on to say that perhaps he wasn't talking to the 'bill payer' as he couldn't believe that I wouldn't want to help him to save me money.
I told him that I was the 'bill payer' and that I was happy with my present arrangements. He then quietly left.
I was so annoyed at the intrusion. I had been cooking when the bell rang and had to stop to go to the door as I had been expecting my niece and thought it might be her.
Yes, my door has a bell attached But it is there for the use of my family, friends and guests. It is not there to be used by anyone that fancies ringing it.
I think that this is all going to get worse as more people take up sales jobs as traditional posts are being cut back.

I got a visit from the Jehovah's Witnesses yesterday too, wanting to ask me how I felt about Armageddon. I was tempted to say "Oooh I can't wait for it to happen" but I was in a fairly mellow mood and said I wasn't interested. I have 2 regular cold telephone callers at the moment, but unl;ss I can tell who is calling, using caller display, I don't answer.. They never leave a message on the answering machine, so this could continue indefinitely until they run out of money and patience...

Oh how I love Jehovah's Witnesses calling at my door ( when I have the spare time to stand there ) ..
Being Im Agnostic, I love a good coversation with them, yet they have not convinced me after all the years of calling ..
My latest question to them ( as you get different ones at your door everytime ) is why do Animals not go to Heaven ( as stated in the Bible somewhere ) Their answer is because they are not made in the Lords image .. Well Thats a case of discrimination. if ever I heard of one and " done by God" too ... NO wonder we Humans cannot get on when God picks on animals ..
And then when I have a go about animals being eaten they usually toddle off ..

did I ever tell you about the bright spark selling tea towels etc who convinced me he was dyslexic? and therefore presumably unable to read the notice on my door saying that I did not buy from doorstep sellers?

Long, long dat at work and a stress filled one (computer software problems). Get home at 6.15pm, put kettle on and then 'ding dong'.
2 Jehova's Witnesses at the door asking me if I was worried about the future of the world. I told them that my only worry was what I was about to eat, idiot grins followed and some comment about the harvest, at which point I invited them to ...
I regret allowing myself to get a little upset but I felt exhausted. I'm just sick and tired of not having my privacy and my peace and quiet respected. Like V above, a note on the door is the answer.

I think the people most worried abouyt the future of the world are the Jehovah's Witnesses themselves. I don't know why they are so worried - do they not believe that they will be the only people admitted to Heaven should the world end?
