Old Covent Garden market in the 1960s and '70s
The photographer Clive Boursnell took photos of the fruit, vegetable and flower markets found at Old Covent Garden from 1968 until their relocation in 1974. Wonderful photos, a brilliant snapshot of life from the 60's & 70's. I love the photo of the Nag's Head with the guys drinking tea out of wine glasses.

I wonder if pubs like the Nags Head had unconventional opening hours. I suspect that they may have opened at about 9am as the market was closing. Hence the tea being served.

It was probably something to do with that, licensing laws were much stricter than they are now of course. I wouldn't mind betting there was something mixed in with that tea.
