Carly: [Gasps] Mom! [Both chuckle] Oh, I'm so happy to see you.
Bobbie: Oh, me too, sweetie. And I would have been here sooner, but I've been at the hospital, praying for Nikolas to live.
Carly: Michael and I came by the hospital to see you, but you were with Nikolas, and the ICU wouldn't let anymore visitors in.
Bobbie: He had a post-op complication. He had to be revived twice.
Carly: Oh, my God. Is he gonna be okay?
Bobbie: Well, his doctors think he's going to recover, although he hasn't regained consciousness. Scott and I were with Nikolas for most of the day. He never opened his eyes.
Carly: Why would Scott Baldwin care about Nikolas?
Bobbie: For Laura.
Carly: Oh. Laura's out looking for Lulu, and she needs someone she can trust to stay with Nikolas. Although I can't understand why she trusts Scott Baldwin.
Bobbie: Well, Scott may have his flaws, but he can be very loyal.
Carly: If you say so.
Bobbie: Besides, what else was Laura supposed to do? She's afraid for her daughter. And now her son isn't waking up.
Josslyn: I love her!
Carly: What do you say, Josslyn?
Josslyn: Thank you, Grandma!
Bobbie: It's my pleasure, Sweetie.
Carly: Hey, why don't you go show Mercedes upstairs?
Carly: Careful going up, okay? Watch your head.
Carly: I think she likes it.
Bobbie: So, we were talking about A.J.
Carly: Oh, God. I couldn't believe it when he showed up alive. And he is just as sleazy and selfish and entitled as ever. And what is the first thing he does? He tries to turn my son against me.
Bobbie: Well, you and A.J. have a complicated past.
Carly: Complicated? It's perfectly simple. He's a selfish jerk. He is! The only decent thing he's done his entire life is get me pregnant. He was so drunk, he didn't even know what he was doing.
Bobbie: Honey, you didn't say any of this to Michael, did you?
Carly: No, I didn't say it to Michael, but A.J. did. God! And you know what? When I fought back, A.J. played the victim. He put Michael in the middle, so I had to back off, or I was afraid I was gonna lose my son.
Bobbie: I don't believe you would ever lose Michael.
Carly: I couldn't take that chance. So now I had to step back and pretend like I'm okay with A.J. dragging Michael back to ELQ. I'm telling you, Mom... if I could figure it out and come up with a plan, I would make sure Tracy takes that company back over and kicks A.J. out in the street where he belongs.
Carly: You know what? I don't care if A.J. fails, because he has been doing it his entire life. I just don't want him to hurt Michael in the process.
Bobbie: Well, do yourself a favor, honey. Just stay out of it.
Carly: I know. I know. I hear you. But I just can't stand the fact that A.J. has roped Michael into going to work for him at ELQ when he should be going to college full time. It's wrong. It's selfish. It's like Michael exists just to validate A.J., and this is exactly the reason I didn't want A.J. to know that he was Michael's father.
Bobbie: Oh, now, wait a minute, Carly. Let's not rewrite history.
Carly: What are you talking about?
Bobbie: When you first found out you were pregnant, you weren't worried about protecting your child from A.J. You were trying to hang on to Tony.
Carly: You're right. I was, uh... really messed up then. And I destroyed you and your marriage and your family, and I didn't realize it till it was too late, and I couldn't fix it. I...
Bobbie: But we managed to get past all of that.
Carly: 'Cause you were willing to forgive me.
Bobbie: Wouldn't you forgive your kids anything they did?
Carly: Of course. [Chuckles] But I don't have to worry about that, because my kids are not a train wreck like I was.
Bobbie: Hey, you, don't be criticizing my daughter.
Carly: I'm so glad you're here.
Bobbie: [Chuckles] I am, too.
Carly: I'm happy that Michael and Sonny are so close, thank God.
Bobbie: You didn't always feel that way.
Carly: No. Sonny and I -- we've had our ups and downs. And we're still going to have them, I'm sure. It's just... after we lost Jason, I think Sonny and I kind of feel like, um... you have to hold on to the people you have left. So...
Bobbie: You haven't said much about Jason.
Carly: What's to say? He was shot in the back and kicked into the harbor, and he's dead. And he left behind a beautiful little boy... Daniel Edward Morgan. Everyone calls him Danny. And he looks just like Jason. He does. And he has the same personality, you know. He'll just sit there, and he takes it all in, and he just watches, and he never cries. And has the same funny little scowl that Jason had every single time that I would show up at his doorstep and... need his help, you know, when my life was a complete mess and a disaster. And I'd need Jason to fix it for me, and he always did, every time. No matter how bad I lied or messed up, Jason loved me, and he was there for me. [Sniffles] And now he's gone. So, yeah, there's this, um... gigantic hole... where Jason used to be, and it is so big that, um, you know, I try not to look at it, and I keep trying to fill it with other people. But that's wrong. You know, because it's, um... it's a place where Jason used to be. And I shouldn't put anything there, right, because I should just -- that should just be his.
Bobbie: Do you think that's what Jason would want?
Carly: I think Jason would want me to be happy. And... I thought I was. And I was wrong.
Carly: [Sighs] Maybe it's time I grew up, you know, and, um, stop counting on someone else to pull me back from the brink of disaster and take care of myself.
Bobbie: Good for you.
Carly: So, assuming I can stick to this, and I can be thoughtful and mature, Josslyn will grow up with a stable childhood, you know. More stable than Michael.
Bobbie: What about Morgan?
Carly: I think out of all three of my kids, Morgan had the best childhood, you know. He grew up with Jax. That was a happy time. Really happy time. And, um... I think that's why Morgan stays away so much, why he doesn't want to come back, because his family's gone.
Bobbie: Honey, not gone. The family's just...scattered.
Carly: I know. [Chuckles] You know Jax is in Australia, and, you know, Josslyn -- she spent Christmas with him.
Bobbie: Well, then maybe next time Josslyn goes to see Jax, you could go with her.
Carly: Well, I mean, the last time he was here, we filed for divorce.
Bobbie: Well, so what? Marry him again!
Bobbie: Never say "never."
Bobbie: [Sighs] Well, I should go 'cause I have to check on Scott. Make sure he hasn't gotten into any trouble.
Carly: Okay, you guys aren't, you know...
Bobbie: No, no, no, no. There's no chance of that.
Bobbie: He's madly in love with Laura, again.
Carly: So? It never stopped you before.
Bobbie: Yeah, well, I finally learned my lesson about chasing after men who are in love with someone else. And I hope you have finally learned that lesson, too.
Carly: Trying. Yeah.
Bobbie: Oh, honey. No matter how hard it is, if you have faith in yourself, everything else will just fall into place.
Jax: Hi, Carly.

Jax: Hi, Carly.
Carly: Jax. I...can't believe you're here. Come in. Sorry.
Jax: Yeah, thank you.
Carly: It's so good to see you.
Jax: Good to see you, too.
Carly: Um... what are you doing here? You running a triathlon somewhere, and you just stopped in to say hi?
Jax: No, actually, I needed to talk to you about something.
Jax: [Gasps] There's my little girl! Come here! Give me a big hug! Oh, I missed you so much!
Josslyn: How much?
Jax: Oh, this much. And do you know how much I love you? All the way to the sky and back.
Josslyn: Me too!
Jax: Oh, come here. You know what? Can you help me with something? Need you to open something for me.
Josslyn: Open what?
Jax: It is a present. Pull the lid off. Ooh! There you go!
Josslyn: A tea party!
Jax: That's what it is -- a tea-party set.
Josslyn: Can I go set it up?!
Carly: Yes, you can. Be careful going up the stairs with it, okay? Careful. Well, uh, that's a hit.
Jax: Yeah, I'm glad she likes it.
Carly: She loves it. You know, um... I guess you didn't come all the way from Australia just to give her a gift, so...
Jax: No, I, uh, actually have something for you.
Carly: Really? Pizza-party set?
Jax: No, not exactly.
Carly: You're divorcing me twice. Since the first time wasn't hard enough, huh?
Jax: Apparently there was a problem with the divorce papers.
Carly: I don't understand. I signed, you signed. You got your copy, right?
Jax: Yeah, I got my copy. Apparently, the state of new York didn't get theirs. Some kind of filing issue.
Jax: So there's no official record.
Carly: We have to go through the process all over again?
Jax: No, no, no. No, just -- just the signatures.
Carly: So, there's no record of our divorce, that means, and, um...
Jax: That means we're still husband and wife, yes.
Carly: We're still married.
Jax: What, you think that's funny?
Carly: You don't?
Jax: Not really.
Carly: Oh, come on. As many times as it took us to get married, it just makes sense that our divorce would be similar.
Jax: Yeah, well, I guess we get points for consistency.
Carly: Yes, there is that.
Jax: You know, I still can't believe it sometimes. I mean, what man stands by and waits for the woman he loves while she marries her ex-husband?
Carly: That was you, and don't make it sound so awful, because I only married Sonny, so I wouldn't have to testify.
Jax: Well, I still hated it.
Carly: I know. I know.
Jax: And then the second time, we postponed, right?
Carly: Well, that was noble, you know, so Luke could marry Laura.
Jax: Well, it would have been slightly more noble if it had been a real wedding.
Carly: Well, it was real to her. Or unconventional. I mean, you had a best maid.
Jax: That's right. You had a man of honor.
Jax: I am sorry about Jason. I really am.
Jax: You know he wasn't my favorite person, but I always admired how you stood by each other.
Carly: I miss him. I'm always gonna miss him. But I'm okay.
Jax: Yeah. You know, you're doing better than I thought.
Carly: Right. Who knew I could stand on my own two feet?
Jax: Well, I did. I'm just glad that you know it, too.
Carly: Our wedding seems so long ago.
Jax: You looked so beautiful.
Carly: Hope will do that to a girl.
Carly: I wish hope could have been enough. How did we let things get in the way?
Jax: Not things. Sonny.
Jax: There's no one -- no one -- quite like you, Carly. You're fearless, complicated... and you astonish me without even trying.
Carly: Ah. Good astonish or bad astonish?
Jax: No. The good far outweighed the bad, at least for me.
Carly: For me, too. You were happy, huh?
Jax: Yep. Well, we have Josslyn to show for it.
Carly: Yeah. Filing error? What if it's not the only one? What if this is one big mistake?
Jax: Carly, we've been over this. Divorce was our only option.
Carly: Was it?
Jax: Besides, I heard that you moved on...a couple of times.
Carly: Has Alexis been running her mouth?
Jax: No, Alexis didn't say anything.
Jax: Okay, fine. She told me.
Carly: Okay, did she tell you that I ended my last relationship? I ended it.
Jax: Maybe she wasn't aware of that.
Carly: It's true, okay? Listen, I just... I've had to re-evaluate and think about what... what it is that makes me happy and what I want and who I want.
Jax: I can't be your fallback guy.
Carly: You're not the fallback guy. You're not. You're the guy. You are. In any relationship that I've been in, I think I've just been trying to get over you. But here you are, and I'm free. It's a sign, Jax. It's a sign. I think we gave up... on our marriage.
Carly: I know this is crazy.
Carly: When we were together, it was great.
Jax: I know. It was the best time of my life, but I need to --
Carly: Then we should give this another shot.
Jax: I'm sorry. I -- there's a part of me that's always going to love you. Okay? I don't think that's ever gonna change. We'll always be connected through Josslyn.
Carly: You really want me to sign those divorce papers?
Jax: I need you to. The only reason I found out that we weren't divorced is... because I got engaged.
Carly: You're engaged? To who?
Jax: [Sighs] Brenda.

Carly: You're engaged? To who?
Jax: To Brenda.
Jax: That's right.
Carly: Okay. Just so we're clear, when you say "Brenda.". You're marrying Brenda Barrett?
Carly: Jax, what the hell are you thinking? Why would you try and marry Brenda for, what -- the fourth time?
Jax: Don't do this.
Carly: No, make me understand, please, because you appear to be in your right mind, and you don't seem to be suffering from amnesia. Why would you get involved with her again?
Jax: I get it. You don't like Brenda, and nothing I say is gonna change your mind.
Carly: I wouldn't say that I don't like her. I despise her! Okay? I despise her for the pathetic, narcissistic person that she is. There isn't enough attention in the world for that woman. She only loves herself. And you lived through it, repeatedly. Why the hell would you get wrapped up with her again?
Jax: You remember that I flew Brenda and her son to Rome after she left sonny, right?
Carly: Yeah, I was under the impression that you were giving her a ride. I didn't realize you guys were gonna rekindle some kind of old romance.
Jax: We didn't, at first.
Carly: I mean, did she get bored with motherhood and decide to just give you a call? A kindergartner could not give that woman the kind of attention that she craves.
Jax: Do you want to hear my -- do you want to hear my answer, or are you just gonna keep on talking over me?
Carly: Fine. How'd you get involved?
Jax: We stayed in touch, and whenever I would visit Rome, I would take her and Alec out on the town, and... then my visits became more frequent, and one thing led to another, and then we -- we signed the divorce papers last September, and there was nothing in the way. Besides, you had moved on, as well.
Carly: Remember the time you told me how to close a deal was a lot like gambling? The secret to winning both was knowing when to walk away.
Jax: Yeah, I remember.
Carly: Why can't you take your own advice when it counts? Why can't you walk away from her?
Jax: Carly, I'm marrying Brenda.
Carly: Jax, wake up! This engagement has nothing to do with you. Brenda is trying to provoke a reaction from Sonny.
Jax: You think that Brenda only agreed to marry me to provoke sonny?
Carly: You know it, too. You just won't admit it.
Jax: No, you're wrong.
Carly: I'm not wrong. It's classic Brenda, okay? When she made her grandstand play and took her son and went to Rome, she was pissed off because sonny didn't chase after her, so you know what? She had to raise the stakes. She had to find another way to get sonny's attention, so of course she runs to you.
Jax: That's not what happened.
Carly: Brenda is using you, okay? And you know it down deep inside. You just won't admit it. You're never gonna be happy with her because Brenda only wants to be with one man, and it's sonny. She wants to be with sonny.
Jax: Not this time.
Carly: Okay. Where is she?
Carly: Is she in Rome? Is she in Australia?
Jax: No, she's here. She's here and she's back at our hotel room.
Carly: Are you still a gambling man?
Jax: What are you talking about?
Carly: I bet you a million dollars that Brenda is with sonny right now, 2 miles down the road.
Jax: This is pretty ridiculous.
Carly: Yeah, she's standing there. Oh, my god, I can see it. She has tears in her eyes, and she's telling sonny everything that's going on, and she's waiting for him to tell her what she wants to hear, talking about missed chances, everything.
Jax: You know, I don't need to listen to this.
Carly: Sorry. Brenda wants to be with one man, and it's not you.
Jax: Carly, just sign the papers, all right?
Carly: I need to look them over first.
Jax: Really? It's the same divorce as it was last year. Nothing has changed.
Carly: I just don't want to sign them tonight. I just don't think I should sign them tonight.
Jax: Okay, fine. Then you know what? Bring them to the nurses' ball. Okay?
Carly: You're going to the nurses' ball with Brenda?
Jax: Yes, I'm going to the nurses' ball to honor robin.
Carly: Robin, who always wanted Brenda with sonny.
Jax: Right. Thank you for bringing that up. Just sign the papers, okay? Just bring them to the nurses' ball signed. All right? And just -- and just so we're clear, you're not making me doubt my love for Brenda. Okay? You're wrong about her.
Carly: [Scoffs] Well, Jax... I'm about to do you a huge favor.
[Elevator bell dings]
Jax: Hey, man.
Michael: What're you doing in town? You here to see Josslyn?
Jax: Always. And there's another reason for my visit.
Michael: Oh, the nurses' ball? Yeah, that's pretty nice of you to make the effort.
Jax: We'll be going to the nurses' ball, but there's one more thing. I hope that you can be happy for me. I'm getting married.
Michael: Oh, congratulations.
Michael: Does my mom know?
Jax: Yeah, I just -- just told her.
Michael: Is she okay?
Jax: Not really. See, I'm, uh -- I'm marrying Brenda.
Michael: Well, I can see why my mom would have a problem with you marrying Brenda.
Jax: Well, what's even more awkward is that my divorce from Carly isn't final.
Michael: It's not?
Jax: No, there was some kind of filing error with the paperwork, so we have to re-sign the agreement.
Michael: I'm guessing my mom's not signing the papers.
Jax: She's looking over them. She's gonna sign them, and she'll bring them to the nurses' ball tomorrow night.
Michael: And you're gonna bring Brenda to the nurses' ball?
Jax: Despite Carly's best efforts, yes.
Michael: She tried to talk you out of it?
Jax: Oh, out of the ball, out of the engagement. I mean, she insists that Brenda's only marrying me because she wants to provoke Sonny.
Michael: I'm sorry you and my mom are fighting. I mean, I know she doesn't want to hurt you.
Jax: No, I know. I know that, too. And I can see, based on past history, why Carly would think that Brenda is using me to try to get sonny back. Brenda and I have talked about it, and sonny's in the past.
Michael: Well, I hope it all works out for the best.
Jax: That's a very diplomatic way of saying "you're all crazy."
Michael: Well, I -- I get it. People have their own history, and maybe a part of their heart always belongs to somebody else, but it doesn't mean they can't love you.
Jax: That's true. You love, and then you let go. That's why I know that Carly's wrong, too. Brenda's not over at sonny's tonight. She's -- she's upstairs. Probably in bed waiting for me, so...
Michael: Well, hey, then, I won't keep you. I'll see you at the nurses' ball, okay?
Jax: Good to see you.
Michael: You too.
[Elevator bell dings]
Jax: Brenda? Brenda?
Carly: I bet you a million dollars that Brenda is with sonny right now, 2 miles down the road.

Bobbie: We are running so late.
Carly: Hello to you, too, mom.
Bobbie: Honey, where is your dress? I mean, don't tell me you forgot. We're supposed to be getting ready for the nurses' ball, Anna's suite.
Carly: I can't go.
Carly: I have other plans.
[Water running, stops]
Sonny: You left me. I was in a free fall. I didn't know what was in the letter. I was afraid to -- to read what was in the letter. I was afraid that I would lose the love that you always had for me. When it was good, you know, we would drown in each other. I thought that all would be gone.
Brenda: What if it's not? What if we could try again?
Jax: Something on your mind?
Brenda: What? Um... uh, yeah, I'm -- I'm trying to, you know, figure out what to wear. [Chuckles]
Jax: Sure it's not something else?
Brenda: I'm guilty as charged. It's happening now.
Carly: Mom, they're your friends, you know. Maxie just pretends to tolerate me.
Bobbie: Which is exactly why I wanted you to join us -- so that Felicia and Anna could get to know you better.
Carly: I-I can't. I have something important to do, something I-I can't put off.
Bobbie: More important than the nurses' ball that's happening in your own hotel?
Brenda: I want us to be honest with each other. I know that's impossible for you.
Sonny: It's payback. You wrote the letter, saying that you love me, you still wanted to be my wife, and you're gonna wait for me in Rome. When I didn't show up, you wanted to hurt me. And the way you do that is by getting back with him.
Sonny: Unless you want me to talk you out of marrying Jax.
Carly: More important to me.
Bobbie: Okay. What are you up to, Carly?
Carly: Don't worry. I'm just gonna protect the innocent and make sure the guilty are punished.
Jax: What exactly are you pleading guilty to?
Brenda: Mm. To... [Clears throat] I hate your ex-wife.
Jax: Of course.
Brenda: I guess she's not your ex-wife yet because you can't get her to sign the divorce papers.
Jax: No, she just wants the attorney to look it over to make sure nothing has changed.
Brenda: Oh, right, because you're gonna take advantage of her.
Jax: She'll sign the papers, and she will bring them to the ball tonight.
Brenda: I can't even imagine what she probably said when you told her that we're getting married.
Jax: You can't imagine?
Brenda: What -- what did she say?
Jax: You want me to tell you?
Jax: Uh, she said that she thought that you only agreed to marry me to get a reaction out of sonny.
Brenda: She's hateful.
Jax: Mm-hmm. And while I was over at her house asking her to sign the divorce papers, uh, she said that you were at sonny's asking to get back with him.
Jax: I thought you'd be ready.
Brenda: Well, you know how nervous I get. I hate getting dressed up. It reminds me of modeling. I feel like I'm gonna shatter into a million pieces. This is stupid.
Jax: You don't have to -- you don't have to -- just relax, okay? There's no pressure on you tonight.
Brenda: Yeah, well, that's easy for you to say. You're not gonna have Carly in your face all night long.
Jax: Just don't let her get to you.
Brenda: Why -- why, just out of curiosity, can't she just focus on her own pathetic life? Why does she have to --
Jax: Probably just being protective, you know. She's convinced that you're gonna hurt me.
Brenda: I'm sorry. Are you defending her now?
Jax: What? No. I'm defending you, like I did last night when I told her she was wrong.
Brenda: Yeah, of course she's wrong. That woman has to make everyone's life as miserable as hers.
Jax: I told Carly that you had absolutely no reason to want to get back together with sonny because you love me, and you left him, right? I mean, you weren't at sonny's last night, were you?
[Knock on door]
Brenda: Of course not. I wasn't with sonny last night. [Clears throat]
Brenda: What do you want?
Carly: Just checking in. Damn, Jax, you look good. You always wore a tux well.
Brenda: So, you just thought you'd stop by and hit on my fiancÚ?
Carly: No, no, I wanted to make sure the room was satisfactory, see if there's anything you guys need.
Brenda: We do, actually. We need your name on divorce papers. Thank you.
Carly: Oh, I'm gonna bring the divorce papers to the nurses' ball tonight. And you can bring that million-dollar check.
Jax: Excuse me?
Brenda: What million-dollar check?
Carly: Oh, Jax didn't tell you?
Jax: Oh, Carly, come on. If you got something to say, just say it.
Carly: I bet Jax a million dollars last night that you were gonna go to sonny's and tell him about the engagement and ask him to give you a reason to call it off.
Jax: Excuse me, but you're gonna owe me that million dollars because Brenda wasn't at sonny's last night.
Carly: Yeah, I heard Brenda lying to you as she opened the door.
Jax: What makes you so sure?
Carly: After you left my house last night, I went to Sonny's. See, I still have a key. And Brenda was there standing in sonny's living room asking him to take her back. I think your exact words were "what if we try again?" Have fun at the ball. [Chuckles]
Carly: Are you going to be there? Great. I can't wait for the nurses' ball. I think it's gonna be epic. Let me call you back. Since when do you let yourself into my house?
Sonny: Well, since you let yourself into my house, I thought I'd return the favor. And it looks like you -- you left this at my house last night while you were spying on me and Brenda
Brenda: She is amazing. She can't just let there be one night to honor robin. She has to come in here and start telling ridiculous lies --
Jax: Okay, you know, stop it. Stop it.
Brenda: I'm gonna get ready.
Jax: No, no, no, no. You -- you... answer me this question. Was she telling the truth?
Sonny: You used to be a better spy.
Carly: I knew you were gonna find out I was there. You have security cameras everywhere.
Sonny: Why were you there?
Carly: Because Jax came by my house last night. Apparently our divorce papers weren't filed properly, and technically we're still married, which is a problem for Jax because he wants to marry Brenda. And as soon as he told me about their engagement, I knew that she would be at your house trying to win you back.
Sonny: That's none -- that's none of your business.
Carly: What are you talking about? Yes, it is. I mean, even if Jax and I weren't still technically married, he's Josslyn's father, and I'm not gonna let Brenda use him certainly not to try and get you back.
Sonny: And that gives you the right to break into my house and eavesdrop on a private conversation?
Carly: What if the positions were reversed, okay? What if you were engaged to Brenda and she was going behind your back and she was going to see Jax? Wouldn't you want me to tell you?
Sonny: It's not about what I want. It's about Jax and Brenda, and you got to stay out of it.
Carly: [Sighs] Too late. 'Cause I just told Jax everything.
Brenda: You know that Carly will lie about anything to anyone to get what she wants, and what that girl wants is to split us up.
Jax: She's not here. I'm asking you. Were you at sonny's last night?
Brenda: Yes, I went to see him last night.
Jax: Why did you lie to me?!
Brenda: I-I thought it was --
Jax: This would be almost funny if it wasn't so pathetic.
Brenda: What are you talking about? I thought that I should go tell him that you and I are engaged, that he should hear it from me first.
Jax: Really? If it was so innocent, then why did you lie to me?
Brenda: No, I'm telling you right now!
Jax: Oh, okay.
Brenda: Because -- what do you mean, why? Because I knew you'd get upset just like this, and I thought it was important that, you know, I talk to him and -- and know that we can be civil to each other, and I figured you would never have to know about it.
Jax: You didn't ask sonny for another chance? You didn't use the words "what if we can try again"? You didn't say that?
Brenda: That's not how it was. There was -- there was a lot said --
Jax: You didn't offer to drop me and get back together with sonny? None of -- none of that happened? Huh? Why don't you tell me how it was?
Carly: And I'm sure Brenda's lying through her teeth right now to Jax, but I saw the look on his face. He believes me. I just wish he wouldn't have done this to himself.
Sonny: To himself? You had nothing to do with it?
Carly: Okay, you, Jax, and Brenda -- you guys started this dance long before I joined in. And that woman is obsessed with you. It's -- it's like an addiction with her, and I would almost feel sorry for her if she wasn't such a selfish bitch.
Sonny: And you are the soul of compassion?
Carly: Maybe it's easy for you because you're the one she's chasing after, but Jax keeps getting his heart broken.
Sonny: Well, then maybe he'll finally buy a clue.
Carly: Okay, I agree with you. I hope he is free of her now.
Sonny: Anyway, I'm done. I'm out of here.
Carly: Where you going?
Sonny: I'm going to the nurses' ball to honor robin.
Carly: Oh! Let me go with you.
Jax: Why don't you tell me exactly what happened at sonny's?
Brenda: I wanted to talk to him about my letter.
Jax: What letter?
Brenda: The letter, the letter that I wrote to him before I left port Charles. I gave it to robin. I asked her to give it to him. I told him that I loved him and that I was his wife and that I would be waiting for him in Rome. He didn't show up. He -- he never even read the letter. He ripped it up.
Jax: Oh. Okay, so you wanted to make sure that he knew what you'd written.
Brenda: No, I-I thought he already knew what I had written, and I just wanted closure, just like --
Jax: Why would you lie about the letter unless you were asking for another -- another chance? Come on, Brenda. Just do us both a favor. Just say the words out loud. You want to try to get back together with sonny, right? Say it! You want to get back together with sonny! Yes or no?!
Sonny: You want me to take you to the nurses' ball?
Carly: Do you have another date?
Sonny: No, I don't, but I was --
Carly: Give me five minutes, okay?
Sonny: Well, you take more than five minutes.
Carly: Okay, 10 minutes tops. 10 minutes.
Sonny: But I want to be there on time 'cause, uh, you know, out of respect for robin.
Carly: Can you stop sulking? This is going to be fun.
Sonny: You think?
Carly: It is. I'm in the mood to party. I just saved my friend, almost ex-husband, from a man-eating snake.
Jax: Think I got to leave.
Brenda: Oh, no, no. No, no, you don't have to leave.
Jax: No, sorry, I can't be around you right now.
Brenda: Oh, oh, really? You're gonna do that again? Like, you just hate me now like that?
Jax: No, I don't hate you. I hate that -- that I'm doing this to myself, that I thought that this was gonna be different this time.
Brenda: It is different!
Jax: It's not!
Brenda: It is different! I love you! That's why I'm with you! What are you talking -- uh, let's just leave here. We should have never come back here.
Jax: No, no, no, no. You can go wherever you want. You're not going anywhere with me.
Brenda: This is unbelievable. You realize this is exactly what Carly wants? So you're gonna let her do this to us?
Jax: Carly just stopped me from making the worst mistake of my life.
Brenda: Oh, give me a break. Now us loving each other is the worst mistake of your life?
Jax: She made me realize how ruined you are, that there's no chance of me ever saving you.
Brenda: You don't mean that.
Jax: You know, after all this time... I have Carly to thank for this. I got to go.
Brenda: Jax. Jax.
