The Push: What is it? A guide to understanding and accessing 'The Push' What is it?: The short answer The Push is the name of an account that is used not for a played character but for the purpose of introducing unexpected twists and turns into IC threads throughout Initium. This feature is intended to keep you on your toes, add to the realism of threads, and increase the fun of the unpredictability of RPing. How does The Push contribute to threads? The Push, only accessible by staff- promise!- may post in a thread at any time to introduce a new challenge, NPC, or unusual change in an attempt to spice things up. Maybe a dangerous animal will be introduced to the scene or an altercation will spring up nearby. Players involved in the thread will then be able to have their characters react as appropriate. Oh, dangit. Is it going to mess up the threads I plan out beforehand? Nope! The Push's influence is entirely optional. However, you should note that you have to opt out of the potential for The Push to come into play in your thread. If you don't want The Push to be able to influence an important thread that you have planned out for plot purposes, just make note of that! In the first post of the thread, make an OOC note. Something along the lines of, "No Push, please!" will do just fine. What if I forget to include a note or to add one when it becomes necessary in the middle of a thread? Don't panic! If The Push is posted, and you think it will mess up what you wanted to go for in the thread, just PM Marcus Caine or contact me (Dun). I'll delete the post for you. No need to wait for me, either- you can disregard the post and continue as normal, and I'll get to it later. The goal isn't to mess you guys up, after all! Is this something that I should expect to come into play a lot? The Push will most likely be used, for the most part, to recharge threads that are becoming stagnant or to encourage a sense of realism in a thread. Threads taking place in public locations are more likely to be influenced by The Push. You shouldn't constantly worry about having interference twice on every page. If I really want a post from The Push in a thread, can I request it? Sure! If you have a thread that needs a jumpstart, or you'd really like to have an added twist to any specific thread, go ahead and PM Marcus Caine about it, or contact me (Dun) some other way. |
