Fletcher wasn’t really sure what she was doing here. Of course, she had donated money and was now a board member, but it was in general, she wasn’t sure what she was doing here. She could have gone back to practicing her own medicine, or rather doing her own research. She supposed part of her was afraid about doing that. It had been several years since she had practiced in earnest, and she wondered if she hadn’t lost some of her touch. Certainly, she wasn’t an idiot and she knew she hadn’t forgotten everything she had learned and discovered, but medicine didn’t stay with a person forever. Things changed in her field and while she felt she had kept up well, she still felt some doubt. Besides that, her father had asked her to. Why she was following his wishes when she had never met him was a mystery to her. She supposed not everything in life was explainable.

She wasn’t normally like this, so indecisive, so unconfident with her decisions, so confused about what she had chosen. Generally, she would say she was fairly confident and she guessed that wondering about her motives wasn’t exactly failing completely in that way but she would rather not have doubts of any kind. It didn’t help that she was somewhat alone now, even more so than ever. Her husband was gone, just about two years now. She had never had any family before, and now her biological father was gone and her half-sister was resentful of her. The move didn’t help. She had friends, but they were back in California, back where she had left her life. The only person she really had was her son, Leni. Now he was in first grade, she didn’t even have him to take care of. Which probably led back to why she had decided to come up here, to do something with herself. That hadn’t been a problem before.

London sighed lightly and pushed herself off the counter she had been leaning on. She had just been watching. She had worked in hospitals before, naturally, but she found that every one ran a little differently, and it was a good idea to see how this one was dissimilar. Honestly, she didn’t want to completely change the hospital. It seemed to run well in its current state and so drastic changes were unimportant and unnecessary. She didn’t even know if changes were needed at all and so her presence here might be foolish. Actually, she took that back. She didn’t know much about business, but she did know it was important to know an investment and the hospital certainly was that. Fletch had picked up a few things in her short time as president of Emery Medical Equipment. That’s how she had been able to donate so much money to the hospital and, if it seemed worth it, she would certainly be willing to later on.

Part of her was surprised that she was going by unnoticed for the most part. There seemed to be some wary looks in her direction and she couldn’t blame them because she had heard about their previous dealings with one Vogler, who attempted to use the hospital to his advantage. It disgusted her to think about that. A hospital wasn’t to be used and abused. Certainly, though, the majority of the hospital must have heard of her donation and subsequent position on the board. And she wasn’t completely unknown in the medical world before this, though she might have faded into the background of her discipline in the past few years. Nuclear Medicine, to be exact. She missed it, but she knew she would return to what she had done soon, or at least she hoped. For now, her focus was on the hospital.

Probably many of them didn’t yet know what she looked like and she didn’t exactly stand out, at least not in her current attire. She was a pretty woman, but she valued professionalism. Which was why she wore a black business suit. It was tailored nicely, outlining her slim figure, but not enough to be sexy, at least not overtly sexy. That was quite alright with her though. It had been two years, but she had yet to date, and she wasn’t sure if she was ready for that. Anyway, a hospital, especially one that she know had a very vested interest in, was not a dating service. It was an important institution. Fletch’s eyes followed a few people through the hospital. She recognized some of them as the more prestigious doctors or some that had been pointed out to her. Fletch stepped forward, away from the counter, which quickly turned out to be a mistake when someone walked right into her and she stumbled, nearly falling, but managing to catch herself just in time, before turning to face whoever it was.

Beep. Beep. Beep. That infernal alarm woke Temperance's rude awakening, and still very jet lagged, the blonde reached out over the bedside table, hand searching for her phone and pressing the button which would allow her to "snooze"...just for ten more minutes...and then another ten...twenty minutes later the girl jumped out of bed, suddenly realising that if she slept anymore she would be late. Practically jumping in the shower, stumbing back out, the twenty three year old rushed around the motel room which she currently resided in, having only arrived in New Jersey yesterday morning. She towel dried her thick blonde hair, and then searched the room for a dryer, and upon finding one, used it to the best of her ability for five minutes, before losing her patience with it and throwing back her damp hair into a long braid.

Temperance Goodluck was not the most organised person in the world, but when it came to work she ade an effort, she took her career seriously, it would be today when all of that lapsed and came falling around about her ears. The day she started her internship. The girl threw on a bair of jeans and a rugby top, her university rubgy team jacket and rooted around for her leather jacket, which she found after a while, hanging over the back of the chair, where she had put it yesterday. Her shoes were a different story, one she found under the bed, and the other in the bathroom doorway, mentally cursing herself for not having heeded the alarm clock first time it had unceremoniously begun to beep, Temperance finished dressed herself, slung her rucksack over her shoulder and hunted for her keys.

Ah. Next to the bedside lamp. Finally, the twenty three year old locked her motel room door, making sure she had it at least for another night at reception and made her way to the car park. Accomodation she would have to deal with atthe end of her shift, but at least she had transport. She'd managed to procure a decent motorbike yesterday, and that was how she'd get to Princeton Plainsbro Teaching Hospital. If she could get the damn thing to work, why wouldn't it start...it had worked perfectly well yesterday. Temperance sighed in frustration "come on!" She yelled at the bike, which, as if my magic, shuddered into life, and she was off.

She pulled into what she supposed was the staff car park, and hurried up to the enterance of the building which would be pretty much home from now on, after all, it was likely she'd spend more time here than she would whereveer she ended up crashing at night. Removing her helmet, she entered the building, sweeping unruly blonde locks which had escaped her plait off her face and tucking the helmet under her arm, looking around wildly for reception, where she had been told to report for briefing and introduction. Whilst not looking carefully enough at where she was going, the new intern managed to bump into somebody quite ungracefully, almost knocking them over, and causing herself to drop her helmet. Well done Temperance. She scolded herself, inwardly cursing, before looking back at the person she had just almost floored with a guilty smile.
"Sorry, I'm really sorry, are you alright...pardon my cursed clumsiness!" She said, resenting herself, and irish accent extremely obvious. Way to go Goodluck..first day and you've already taken somebody out nearly, very good start to the day, way to impress! She thought. Goodluck certainly wasn't having much good luck.

Fletch straightened up, tugging on her jacket to adjust it. She flashed a smile in the girl’s direction. She took a moment to quickly look over the young woman. She had always been observant, as her background was heavily in research and observation, but she had a new reason to be observant now. After all, she had a vested interest in this hospital now. Surely, she could sit back and just let them use the money for whatever, but that wasn’t exactly Fletch’s style. She had worked in hospitals and she had seen corruption in them, at least in some levels. It was in all hospitals, but she didn’t want it around her.

She figured the girl would know who she was. There were many reasons a person would know who she was. For one, she was a incredible doctor on her own merit and was well known in the medical world, though more specifically in her own field of Nuclear Medicine. It was a very special specialty, but it did affect everyone in the medical field. At least anyone who used any sort of medical equipment. Gamma scans and such. Then there was the fact she had recently become the owner of one of the biggest and most influential medical equipment companies in the world. Lastly was the fact that one could say she nearly owned the hospital. She wouldn’t say that, but others might. She just made a mighty contribution, one that she intended to see through and to see that it would be put to good use. Honestly, part of her didn’t want to be recognized. It would be so much easier to see how the hospital worked if she could remain anonymous. She wasn’t holding onto hope for that, though. It would be rather pointless. Anyway, maybe it would be better if they felt a bit of pressure. Fletch wrinkled her nose at the thought. That wasn’t why she was here.

“That’s okay, Ms….?” She trailed off, unsure of what to call the girl. She wasn’t wearing a lab coat or any sort of scrubs, so she couldn’t be sure that the young woman was a doctor. In fact, her rather…unconventional attire might speak otherwise. London didn’t really care how a doctor or other hospital staff dressed in their free time. She didn’t dress as professionally as she was right now, though she did have a more classy dress style. Lots of flower prints too. Fletch suspected that came from her years of being a mother. Before that she had been rather professional in all times, but that was also when she had been proving herself as serious doctor. Dress attire did make it difficult to decipher her profession. But she couldn’t expect them to have doctor tattooed across their foreheads at all times. Her lips turned into another light smile as her eyes rose to meet the other woman’s. “I’m quite alright. Are you okay?”

Rather warmly, she held her hand out to the woman. It had been her goal to meet and get to know the staff and she figured she better get started. She was glad she wasn’t shy. It was funny. Many people assumed that she would be rather shy or somewhat quiet, as her discipline was a somewhat solitary one, but London had always been fairly open. She supposed that came from being a foster child in a home that always had at least nine other kids. If she didn’t speak up, she would never get what she wanted or what she needed. It was a survival thing and it had become ingrained in her psyche. “Dr. London Fletcher,” she said, her eyes watching for some sort reaction from the other girl. To her, it felt so critical, such an unnatural feeling to be so searching when first meeting a person. It was slightly distasteful to her, but she figured it was something she needed to get used to. At least if she wanted to accomplish anything.
