Leo slammed her textbooks hard on the desk and slouched down into a seat. Anger coursed through her as she thought of the letter that she had recieved from her parents. The first two weeks of school had barely gone past and she was already being reminded that she had to keep her grades up and to do better than last year. Last year, she had gotten all Os with the exception of one E in charms. With a growl, she flipped open her charms textbook and stared blindly at the text before her. Why wasn't she ever good enough for them? Her thoughts traveled along that line for a few moments and she continued to stare defiantly at her textbook.

She sighed and suddenly her pool of anger was swept away as if a dam inside her broke. It left her feeling empty and unsure of herself. She closed her eyes and rested her cheek against the cool sheets of parchment. The pages were comforting, a soothing embrace from an old friend. Leo slowly and unwillingly opened her eyes and fought hard not to jump in surprise.

There was a young girl glaring at her from the windowsill, where Leo had obviously disturbed the girl's studying. Leo's cheeks went unusally red and she cleared her throat. She hadn't realized anyone was in that area of the library to witness her short temper tantrum. Silently cursing her mother, Leo picked her head back up, eyes still locked on the girl. Then, without warning, she laughed, She couldn't help the laughter that burst from her lips and she wasn't really sure why she was laughing. Maybe it was because she was embarrassed. Maybe it was because she was didn't care anymore. It could've been because she was clinically insane, which Leo thought of as very possible. But Leo had this awful, bitter, burning in the back of her throat that told her she was laughing because it was all she could do not to cry.
