Leo paused as she entered the Entrance hall of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She took a few moments to take in the view, chandelier hanging high above, candelabras holding magical non-melting wax candles, which flickered with unending flame-light, the hard stone floor leading to the Grand Marble Staircase and beyond, and even Peeves, waiting malevolently at the first landing to torture the new students, which he dared not do in front of Professor McGonagall. Leo felt her heart swell about four times it's natural size.
She had missed Hogwarts, with it's large stone walls, warm candle light, and awe inspiring decoration. It was her home, the best place in the world for her to be and the place she felt safest. She was excited to return to her studies and to start on her three new subjects, which were Arithmancy, Care of Magical Creatures, and to her parents' horror, Muggle Studies. A brief moment of unhappiness consumed Leo, but as the crowd of students bustled along the hall and the doors to the Great hall opened, the feeling disappeared as suddenly as it had come. She didn't like to dwell on the thought of her parents. They were purebloods, snobby and hateful to the bone. Leo was nothing like them.
The crowd thickened and the Entrance Hall became backed up as students shuffled in slowly, chatting, calling for each other, and finding good seats at the House Tables. Suddenly, Leo lurched forward, her left should pushed by a burly 7th year Slytherin, knocking her to her hands and knees.
"Hey!" she yelled in surprise. The 7th year hadn't even glanced back. The crowd paid her no mind as students parted around her in their rush to enter the great hall. She struggled to get up, but there wasn't much room to move, and she was beginning to fear she would get trampled on. She looked around, bodies moving in two streams around her, cloaks and robes flapping behind catching her in the face and marring her vision, noisy chatter drowning out her cries of help. Just as the panic started to seep in, a hand shot from the crowd and into her face. Gratefully, Leo looked up into the face of her savior.

Take My Hand
He saw her fall, almost as if in slow motion. He watched as the burly Slytherin seventh year pushed through the crowd, how he shoved her off her feet without a glance back, how her blonde hair flew in a wild mess as she fell. All from a distance, Will saw the young girl disappear beneath the crowd. She was struggling to get up and catch her balance. He knew it must be dificult with so little space to move around. Still he watched and hoped that someone near her would help. But no on did. He watched with indignant amazement as no one around her even cared to stop and give her their hand. Will pushed his way through the crowd, trying to get to her.
He fought the crowd determinedly and when he reached her he held out his hand. She looked at him, her blues eyes a mixture of graditude and embarrasment. She reached for his hand and he pulled with all his strength. She was light but it was awkward pulling her up with the crowd jostling them. When she was on her feet Will smiled and she smiled back. She was pretty, Will noted, in a wild way. She wore an odd mixture of gaudy jewelry, bright colors, and unmatched clothes Will had ever seen. Her hair cascaded down her back in tangled curls. Her features were smooth, slightly pointed, and pale. Her lips curled pleasantly up. Her eyes were intelligent and calculating. The Ravenclaw crest was pinned at her neck on her cloak.
"Are You alright?" he asked her. His hand was still wrapped warmly around hers.
