The wind blew few strand of hair free from Minerva's bun and she blew then out of her face impatiently. It was a beautiful evening, with a gentle breeze rushing through the trees as the sun set on Hogwarts.Too beautiful, Minerva thought, to stay inside. And so she decided to take a walk around the grounds to enjoy the fresh air. She knew pretty soon the winter would grab hold and she would be stuck inside huddled by her fire.She shivered unhappily as she thought of the cold and the winter to come. Just as she rounded a corner, Minerva caught sight of Esme Darling brooding by the lake.

For a fleeting second indecision caught her, but she quickly wrestled it away and began walking towards the professor. He looked much too unhappy to be left alone and if some poor unaware student should happen to catch him in a bad mood... well Minerva was going to try to fix his foul mood. She reached him, not trying to hide any noise she might have been making, but he still didn't notice her approach. Too lost in his own thoughts, Minerva guessed, to pay attention to anything else. She cleared her throat and Esme looked up in surprise. Minerva smiled and eyed him thoughtfully.

"Good Evening, Esme. Mind if I join you?"

The Wizarding World has seen terror and destruction at the hands of the evil Lord Voldemort, but Harry Potter was the boy-who-lived and defeated the Dark Lord in 1998. Since then, the Wizarding World has rebuilt itself with the help of the famous Harry Potter, and the War Hero Family, the Weasleys. Even Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter's nemesis at Hogwarts, has done his share of helping the Wizarding World revive. Hogwarts stood through it all and remains the single greatest school for witchcraft and wizardy.

Now the year is 2020 and it's the Next Generation's turn to wreak havoc on Hogwarts like never before. Hogwarts has decided to start a new tradition, one that could change the lives of students in ways they never thought of. Along with Quidditch and the House Cup, there is now the Champion’s Challenge. Each year, two students (one boy and one girl) from each house are selected randomly by the sorting hat to be their House Champion. These eight champions will have to work together with their team mate and compete in several challenges in order to earn additional House points for their house. Not only do they get the extra chance to earn house points but they are exempt from exams, which makes the title of Champion all the more sought after.

At the end of the year, the points of each challenge are added up and the Champions that collected the most points for their house will win a prize of 500 Galleons each and a mystery prize of great value. Judged by a panel of Witches and Wizards, Champions can either bring shame or pride to their house. Of course, everything is never as simple as it seems at Hogwarts. Not everyone is happy with their house champions or the judges. Some teams will struggle to wrok together. Then there’s the constant threat of sabotage that has everyone on edge. As jealousies run high, the possibilities are endless. So who will be the House Champions? Who will win the ultimate prize of School Champion? What challenges lay ahead? And can Hogwarts survive the chaos?

Jerry was in the second floor corridor staring out the window, watching the courtyard below. A small group of Gryffindors were in the courtyard, engaging in a ferocious leaf throwing fight, unaware that they had a silent audience. Jerry scowled as he watched them laughing and playing in the fallen leaves. Jerry didn’t much like Autumn, though it was better than the raging heat he’d experienced while on vacation a few times. He didn’t much like play either; it was beneath his dignity and beneath his pureblood status. He wouldn’t, however, mind chucking a few mud sodden clumps of leaves at a few of the Gryffindors that were out there.

Most people were perturbed by Jerry’s silent stares and anti-social ways. He could often be seen watching a loud rowdy group of people in the Great Hall, or someone silently reading in the library, glowering intently as if his life depended on it. What most people didn’t know was that it wasn’t a stalker-ish tendency for Jerry, for he had no interest in one particular person and never followed anyone around. He was simply watching just to watch. He felt he gained more by watching people rather than engaging them socially. He watched to find weaknesses others rarely saw or guessed. He watched so that he could have an advantage over people and knowledge that most people overlooked.

It was a Saturday afternoon and as Jerry was leaving the library, he found the leaf fight and was intrigued. He climbed to the second floor corridor to get a better seat and watched them for the better half of an hour. Jerry didn’t understand the point of throwing muddy leaves at someone who was a friend. If someone had thrown a mud clump at him he’d curse them into oblivion and beyond. He couldn’t see the appeal at all, nor could he reason why anyone could think it was fun. He tried to decipher why anyone would consider throwing anything fun, but by the time he started to really think about it, the fun was over and the Gryffindors started to go back inside.
<bt>
Jerry turned on his heels and glowered even more harshly. He hated when his observations were abruptly cut off. He picked up his bag that he had placed on the floor and began walking back toward the staircase to the dungeons below. In his foul mood, Jerry wasn’t paying attention to what was in front of him, he simply let his mind wander as his feet took him through the halls. As he rounded a corner, someone very solid crashed into him and Jerry landed on his back. He lay there for a few moments, sprawled across the hard stone floor and stunned by the crash. Then he glared menacingly and stood huffing indignantly.

“Why don’t you watch where you’re going?” he sneered at his unknown assailant.

Leo sat in her usual seat at the Ravenclaw table, which just happened to be the closest seat to the staff table. She always liked to sit where no one would bother her and she got a great view of the sorting ceremony every first of September. As she sat, she tried to straighten her robes and flatten her messy hair. She hoped she didn't look too messy. Her adventure in the entrance hall put her very much in doubt that she looked at all presentable. Her cheeks pinked as she remembered walking into the entrance hall and being bowled over by a 7th year. Leo usually swerved in an out of the crowded halls with confidence, but the entrance hall had been too crowded to get back up. She didn't like the fact that someone had to come and save her from being trampled.

Ignoring her embarrassment for the moment, Leo turned her attention to the first years walking into the great hall. The poor creatures looked like they had to swim across the lake instead of sail across it. George O'Brien, the gamekeeper, looked as if the journey hadn't put a hair out of place as he made his way to his seat at the staff table. Leo watched as Professor Longbottom marched the first years towards the sorting hat's stool. The first years crowded into a small huddle, careful not to break apart from the crowd. Leo caught sight of Rose's brother, Hugo Weasley, as the group came to a halt at the stool. She tried to give Hugo an encouraging smile but the gesture went unseen by the green and fidgeting young boy.

Leo listened to the sorting hat's song and the sorting ceremony politely and clapped where appropriate but her mind wasn't there. She let her thoughts drift and flow down whatever strand they chose to follow. She caught sight of Rose waving to her and she smiled and waved a small hello. Though her and Rose were good friends they never sat together on the train. Rose, who was always almost late, sat with her abundant family in a sort of tradition they had started. Leo had opted to avoid any compartments that the Weasley and Potter clans had chosen to occupy. She liked Rose's Family, but they were too much trouble to handle all together. She didn't know how Rose did it.

It took a few moments for Leo to realize that Professor McGonagall's Speech was over and that the food had appeared on the gold platters in front of her. Her stomach roared and that was all the prompting Leo needed to dig into the nearest dish. She was ravenous and didn't care who knew it.
