[Jenelle Meminger]

((Correction, not an open thread. For Lysander only.))

Jenelle sat in the common room, her small journal propped open as she scratched away with her quill. It was late, but she couldn't sleep, so she'd come down to the common room, opened her journal and began to write. She secretly wished someone else would come and talk to her. "You know, I don't think I'll ever get to sleep tonight." She said to no one. "Oh well, at least I can read. Maybe a good book will help me sleep."

It was silent down there now and she'd given up writing, beginning to read the book she'd brought with her. She curled up on the couch, her diary tucked safely beside her. She pulled a blanket around her, beginning to read. She mumbled softly to herself as she read, her finger tracing over the page, following the words as she read softly to herself.

"i dont think ill sleep either then" Lysander said to jenelle as he heard her mention that she was not going to sleep. "sorry didnt mean to frighten you" he said because she jumped a little at the sound of his voice.

Jenelle looked over at him in surprise, her cheeks flushing slightly. "I-It's alright. I just wasn't expecting anyone else to be up." She said quietly, looking down at her book and closing it, setting it on the table. "You can sit if you want." She said to him, slightly nervous. She looked away, down at the blanket, absentmindedly picking at the fibers.

Lysander walked over and sat down beside her and asked "what where you writing?"

"Nothing." Jenelle said quietly hoping he wouldn't push it. She didn't want him to know how she felt yet. "So, why are you up so late? I couldn't sleep."

"writting nothing cant be terribly fun, but if it pleases you there isnt much point in not doing it is there?" Lysander said, then he sat there and pondered thing s for a while "you know some people they call me wierd and sometimes they call me a freak, but i say im just fun, because being normal isnt any fun Jenelle." he said.

Jenelle smiled at Lysander, "I don't think you're weird or a freak." She said softly to him, "I think you're really nice." She said, looking up at him. You shouldn't let them tell you different. They just don't like things not being normal." She said kindly to him. In truth, though she'd never say it, She thought he was the most perfect boy, even though others didn't think so. "No, being normal isn't fun."

"thanks Jenelle it feels good to have another person say that " he said and then he hugged her. When he hugged her he wished the moment would never end.

Jenelle was so shocked by the contact she froze. However she timidly hugged him back, wrapping her arms around him, "It's what friends do, right?" She said softly. She decided they were friends. That was enough for her at the moment. Even the hug was more than she could have hoped for. She closed her eyes, resting her head on his shoulder as she hugged him. It was a s close to a boy she'd been, besides her dad.

"sure friends do this..." Lysander said. "but suppose one of us wanted more, just supposing that is?" he suggested.

Jenelle smiled and shrugged pulling out of the hug, "Well, hypothetically, it would depend on some things I would guess. It would depend on if they meant it, how much more they wanted to be, and if they would want to. Hypothetically of course." She added quickly at the end looking away. She was clueless he meant something behind it, she just assumed it was a question and i her mind he didn't mean it as anything more than a question about relationships, so she didn't want to ruin their new friendship over liking him more that friends and telling him if he didn't like her that way.

"so in this hypothetical situation would be ok with me liking you, that is completly hypothetical" i like that word Lysander thought to himself

"Um, I guess?" Jene said, giving a smile and a shrug. But that would be impossible. You'd never like me. With a smile like yours any girl would be lucky to have you. But I'm not that lucky. She thought sadly.

"ok" he said. He was sad this was all hypothetical. i must stop using tha word, it isnt my favorite anymore. Lysander thought to himself.

Jenelle gave him a small, slightly forced smile, as she knew nothing would ever happen between them. Curling her legs up to her body, "Hey Lysander. I wanted to thank you for being my friend. I don't normally have friends. So far your m first friend I've had here." She said, hugging him slightly awkwardly. She smiled for real at him, happy for once.
