Name: Shan
Age: 28
hair color: brownish red (earthy hurrdurr)
eye color: Emerald
height: 6'4
weight: 340lbs
build: muscular

Personality: Generally Shan is very laid back and calm, quick to try and resolve problems with civility before violence. Shan has no tolerance to heat and is often found only wearing his shorts.

Style of fighting: using both earth and waterbending, he has found a median in between the two arts that is fluid and deadly. Shan is quick to immobilize limbs by encasing them in sand, turning it to stone and breaking arms and legs.

Element: Earth/Water

Shan was born on a small island right off the coast of the earth kingdom, adopted by waterbenders and copied their movements to earthbend on the beaches of the isla

Shan first left his home in search of information about the avatar cycle when he came across a book vaguely describing energybending, then his search turned to that.

In his travels he discovered how to use energybending and used it himself in hopes of restoring the avatar cycle, once learning waterbending.

During his first use of energy bending Shan nearly died, then decided that he would learn all the elements himself and die in order to begin the avatar cycle again, only to find out when trying to learn firebending that his body could not handle the strain and his body began to destroy itself. When he realized he could not teach anyone this, he had given up and began to search for a new method for bringing back the avatar.

Shan currently is traveling the world, trying to perfect metal bending.

Name: Shila (shy-luh)
Age: 29
height: 5'6''
weight: 126 lbs
build: Athletic/sleek

Personality: Shila is very headstrong and always knows what she wants. She feels there is no room for error or compromise and that she must do whatever it takes to achieve her goals. Serene appearance on the outside this water bender has an extremely fiery spirit and isn't afraid to put her sharp tongue that accompanies it to use.

Style of fighting: Stealth and silence is this former water tribe member's technique and it is what made her famous in the first place. Employing her water bending to aide her when stalking her targets. Due to her constant traveling she has also picked up various techniques from each of the different nations excluding the air nomads for obvious reasons.

Element: Water and eventually fire

Born in the Northern Water Tribe Shila was immediately identified as a water bender and when she reached the age of four she began her training as a healer. Not being sated by such mundane teachings the fire inside her continued to grow and burn over the years until she finally got the courage to approach the water bending master in the tribe.

"Master Amaguq would you please make an acception and take me as your pupil?" She asked the aging master tentatively. The master slowly looked up from his sea grass tea and narrowed his blue eyes at the then 14 year old Shila.
"What makes you think, little girl, that I would even contemplate taking you as my student?"
"Well I-"
"Well you what? You are the strongest healer in the group? You think you can take on the big boys? You think you are as strong as the legendary Katara? How cute." He said mockingly, a greying brow raised as he looked upon her smugly. "Women are completely forbidden to learn the ways of battle bending and there are no acceptions. The great Katara was only for the simple fact that she had connections and was of the Southern Water Tribe by which she was not bound by our traditions. Now go away, little one, we are done here," He spat icily before pushing her out of the room with a blast of snow. That was when Shila decided she could no longer stay in the Northern Water Tribe.

After two years of planning, preparing, and secretly training the young water bender was finally ready to make her escape. Grabbing her things and a canoe in the middle of the night Shila made her escape, never looking back as she made her way towards the future, stolen water bending scroll in hand.

Several years passed where the young women merely traveled the world, taking odd jobs here and there to pay for food but most of the time resorting to petty thievery. Along the way she studied the water scroll she obtained diligently until each movement became second nature to her and water beckoned to her every whim. Eventually, though, stealing things and taking odd jobs wasn't enough and so she resorted to the only thing she now knew. Fighting. She went to a nearby seedy looking earth kingdom village and took the first job she could get and that was the beginning of the end. From then on she continued to try her hand in the art of bounty hunting and assassination and soon found herself one of the top ranking killers in both the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom.

•·.·´¯`·.·• Shila •·.·´¯`·.·•

"Fuck fuck I should have known that was going to happen!" The dark haired water bender spat, grunting and hissing with each step she took as her right hand clung to the gaping wound on her left shoulder, tucking that arm close to her body. Her lithe body looked completely battered down and broken as she limped parallel to the dirt road on her right, hoping it would bring her to a village soon before she collapsed and ultimately died of blood loss or poisoning. "That hog-nosed, buzzard-wasped faced bastard is going to pay for what he did to me!" She mentally screamed, making a hopeless promise to herself despite the fact that she knew she probably wouldn't survive the night.

It all started like any other job. She made several meetings with her client indirectly, each location being different and secluded each time and also being sure she never showed herself until the final meeting. Even then she kept herself cloaked and with a bandana mask covering half of her face. She made sure through these meetings that he was a legitimate customer and not someone out to screw or backstab her. From there she was given her targets schedule, habits, identity, etc. and she was off to stalk her prey. It took several days of observation but eventually, when she was sure the target was alone, she made her move. Oh god if she had only known.

Just as she was about to take out her target several, nine to be precise including her prey, people rushed into the clearing she had thought she isolated her target in and started to attack. It was an ambush and a heavily lopsided one at that. Her blue-amber eyes quickly zipped across the playing field as her killer senses honed in and took in every little detail she could. "2 benders: earth, 4 blade masters: one dual blade, 2 katana, one dagger (note: dagger dripping, possibly poisoned), 1 smoke bomber, and the last two hand to hand tacticians, one using possible boar-q-pine blow darts. Wind blowing due north, north east at a breeze's pace.. Here we go." She noted very quickly in her head and then took a deep breath, closing her eyes and shifting her slim frame into a fighting stance that combined both water and fire bending techniques. The battle was on.

Forty-five minutes and eight bodies later Shila was now bloody, out of breath, and filled with adrenaline. Not long ago she had released the weakest of all the fighters with a mortal wound to send a "friendly warning" to her former client, telling him he needed to watch his back from now on because he just made himself her new play thing. "Yeah, run away you slimy purple pentapus," She hissed bitterly towards the retreating figure before turning the other way and making her way towards the closest village, being sure to grab the dagger that potentially poisoned her. "If I'm ever found then the emblem on the dagger will lead right back to the idiot that hired me," Shila thought angrily, knowing that the likelihood of her survival was low with these injuries.

Now, only 100 yards away from the village, the dark-haired water bender slowly began to feel the fuzzy darkness of battle sleep encroach her, enveloping her mind in its hallow warmth. Her knees began to shake and her already leaden legs started to feel like jell-o. She could feel the tingling of the last bit of adrenaline wearing off as the first lights of the village came into view, appearing like large fire flies in her blurred and wobbly vision. The only thing that came to mind before her world went black was "So close... and yet so.. far.." With that her tired and depleted body crumpled to the ground, it mere inches from the path that lead to the village not 2 minutes away.

When Shan had first heard and felt the commotion just a few miles outside of the village, he meant to ignore it but when he tried to continue his work in his home he realized that some of the foot patterns and grunting in the fight was coming from a woman. The more he tuned in the more he began to realize just how one sided the fight was and rushed to the scene.

Shan burst from his home, thrusting his arms behind him rhythmically to create a wave of earth that sent him rushing faster than he could hope to run, but stopped much shorter than he thought he would have to when he saw a young girl's crumpled body on the ground. Shan released his breath and as he brought his arms down so did the earth. He rushed to her side and carefully rolled her onto her back, "Still breathing.. Lets see if we can keep it that way.." Shan tried to be delicate as he picked her up and rushed to his home back to the village.

When he arrived he didn't waste a second, Shan pulled water from the pond beside his house and coated his hands and then began to heal her, starting with the gaping hole her shoulder and working toward the smaller wounds. When the job was done Shan settled down at his desk across the room, keeping an ear on her as he continued his work from earlier.

•·.·´¯`·.·• Shila •·.·´¯`·.·•

It was so dark.. so dark and lonely.. No one but herself to comfort the broken body and mind that drifted in an out of consciousness. No one to hear her silent pleas for the complete and utter oblivion we know as death to take her out of her misery. Her body was in a constant state of flux as it shifted from an unimaginable cold to an intolerable and blistering heat. Her entire being shook violently as the poison coursed through her body, not able to find any escape other than recirculating through her body instead of out through her wounds. It was agonizing and she could find no purchase for her to grab onto to bring peace to the blinding pain that made her very soul tremble in its wake.

Time seemed to pass so slowly as she laid there in the darkness, waiting for the end that she wanted so badly. Something always held her back, though, something was always there to cool her over heated brow when the fevers took hold and something was always there to cover her freezing limbs when she felt as though she was walking from the winter wonderland she once called home. It was infuriating and she wanted to so desperately scream at those who were responsible for her prolonged suffering. She probably even managed some mild pleading whilst deep within her now broken and hazy world. "How could they be so cruel as to do this to me?" She thought as she slipped in and out of consciousness whenever the tremors and exorbitant amount of pain rocked her out of her restless slumber.

Had it been days? Had it been weeks? Months, perhaps, since she had slipped into the new world she had only come to believe was her medium between life and death? Shila couldn't tell and with a new light blinding her overly sensitive eyes as she opened them for the first time since collapsing she did not care. A weak grunt escaped her lips as her unused vocal chords hoarsely got used to making any commanded sound once again. A shaking hand soon followed the grunt as she lifted it up towards her throat and gripped at it pathetically whilst her blue amber eyes adjusted to the dim, candle-lit room she found herself in.

Panicked yet exhausted eyes scanned the room to their best ability as she tried to remember what exactly happened to her that caused her to end up in the strange room. Shila's lower jaw trembled in both weakness and fear when she realized that she did not bring herself here but must of had to been brought here by someone else. Someone she obviously didn't know. A million questions started sounding through her head all at once, "Where am I?" "Who has me?" "What happened?" "What's wrong with me? "Where is Kesuk?" All of those came to a rapid halt, though, when she heard the sound of footsteps coming from outside the room.

Grabbing the blankets from the bed Shila quickly stood and went to dart to the far side of the room in a dark corner but seriously underestimated her physical state and immediately fell to the ground. A large "whooshing" sound ran through her ears as the air was knocked out of her from her sudden fall and she felt dizzy once more, the thought of being attacked escaping her as she tried to reoriantate herself again.

In the days that passed Shan had done the best he could to nurse the girl back to health, he spent most of his time tending to her with his "healing water." There were times when she seemed like she wouldn't make it but would come back to health just as fast as she started to fade. He could only laugh to himself, "What a kid.."

Days had gone by without any decent sleep, staying up in a chair at the bedside and only resting his eyes between her spasms. It seemed like it was finally going to get to him until the day she finally woke up. Shan had left for just a moment, just to go rinse off the rag that he had been using to cool her when he heard a thud out in the other room and rushed to see if she had gone into another fit when he saw her collapsed on the floor.

"Son-of-a.."

Shan approached slowly, aware of how very very tense she was. "Its okay kid.. I'm not here to hurt you.." Shan relaxed himself to show he meant no harm and knelt down to her side, brushing her hair aside her face and getting a good look at... her scowl.

•·.·´¯`·.·• Shila •·.·´¯`·.·•

As soon as Shila fell and the air rushed out of her lungs she began to realize just how bad her condition must have been. Water bending and running for hours on end would never tire herself out but now the simple act of standing up was as difficult as climbing a flat faced cliff. "What... the hell..," She thought as he fought to get the precious oxygen back into her, left arm clutching the blanket to her as she leaned on her right hand for an unsteady support.

Rapid footsteps could be heard from outside and eventually in the room but all Shila was able to do was tense her body and emit as much hostility as she could. In her still slightly delirious state of mind she didn't process the fact that the person approaching her was possibly the one that saved her life. The only thing running through her brain now was that she was weak, cornered, and vulnerable to attack.

The sound of a firm and husky yet gentle and kind voice reverberated through her ears but she didn't catch a single word. She didn't even feel his hand move the hair from her face as adrenaline slowly began to pump through her still infected veins. Shila instinctively lifted her right arm up and cocked it back, preparing to deal a rapid snap to the pressure point on his neck but just as it approached its target her body decided that it was too tired and weak to do that and her hand fell harmlessly against his chest, causing her to hiss in frustration. "Damn this," She muttered hoarsely and angrily under her breath as her throat began to itch from how dry it was.

For a long while he knelt beside the girl he had saved just a few days ago. He felt the last of her energy leave her as her arm dropped. Shan couldn't help but wonder who could do this to anyone as he brought her back to the bed, "Kid... When you wake up I will help you find who did this. No matter what you may have done, there isn't anyone who deserves to be broken down like this." He ran a gentle hand over her forehead to move the hair from her eyes, then left her to rest.

Shan moved back to his desk on the other side of the room and picked up the small bag that she had on her when she arrived. He had never planned on going through it but felt like now he had to.

"... Not a damn thing"

Shan tossed the bag back onto the table and slumped into his chair, raising the front legs up with two slabs of earth so he could lean back, "Just who are you..."

He hopped back off of his chair, the earth slamming back with a thud. The chair he had been sitting it popped off the ground and fell back down onto its side. Shan stepped over to the girl, "I figure now is as good a time as any to get you eating, you must be starving."

Shan left her side just for a moment to make her some tea. He returned trying to hold the delicate little cup with his thick fingers, awkwardly holding the plate that he could easily hide with them.

"Ah.. so you are awake."

Shan tried his best for a smile, slamming a foot down to send his chair over to her bedside with a little tremor. The girls eyes were open now, but just barely. He sat down, "You think you can drink this kid?"

•·.·´¯`·.·• Shila •·.·´¯`·.·•

Shila was exorbitantly grateful when the other person assumed she had fallen into slumber once more. Anything that could give her the element of surprise, even if she couldn't utilize it, was a good thing. Years upon years of living the way she did taught her many things and that, along with the importance of stealth, were just a few of the lessons she had learned. Granted, most of those lessons had to be learned the hard way but in the end she just saw it as making her stronger by having to fight her way through it. That is why she was now the top assassin in the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom and thus didn't plan on having some random earth bender upstage her just because she had a bit of poison in her.

Keeping up the false appearance of sleep that the other human put on her she soon realized that said being was male when he had picked her up and placed her on the bed. A shot of panic coursed through her once again at all the possibilities that could occur specially being where he was carrying her. She persisted on her act, though, and if worst came to worst she's use the dagger she had stowed away in her gloves still..

"Wait a second... No no no! How dare he!" She thought furiously as she slipped two fingers down her glove slyly under the blanket only to find that it had been removed. Not only was that dagger removed but also the other daggers she had stowed away on her person as well as the dress she was wearing. All she was really left with now was her under binding, leggings and obviously gloves. "Fucking bastard," She spat venomously in her head, her still delirious mind not piecing things together and coming to the conclusion that the dress would have been in the way if anyone were to try and heal her.

Weak jaws clenched tightly shut when the feeling of another human's light and gentle touch brushed against her face once more. It had been years, no, decades since someone had shown such a simple yet kind gesture to her and it made her uneasy and almost... nauseous. It wasn't that Shila shunned all touch, though. If that were the case she wouldn't be able to handle fighting of any sort let alone assassination and bounty hunting. No, it was just any sort of humanly tenderness that threw her off-guard and send her into a mental tailspin because the majority of her life it was spent seeing the evilness and cruelty this world had to offer, her being apart of it from time to time.

Now it was time for her to be even more shocked by this new person as she listened to the quiet promise he made to her. "Who the hell does he think he is and who the fuck does he think I am? Did I look like that much of a helpless woman to him when he found me to think I can't handle myself and my grudges on my own?" She thought acidly as she opened up one eye to a narrow slit to peer over at the male earth bender that was now sitting at a desk. She couldn't help but glare at the man when he started rifling through her things and then smirk very smugly to herself when he couldn't find what he was looking for. "Serves you right."

Shila jumped ever so slightly when the chair the earth bender had been sitting on slammed to the ground once more after being perched so precariously, quickly closing her hardly opened eye once more as he approached her bedside. "I figure now is as good a time as any to get you eating, you must be starving." She heard him say and couldn't help herself when her stomach began to growl in response to his suggestion, only now feeling the horrible ache that pulled at her insides and almost made her cringe. "How long has it been since I've eaten...?" She asked herself just as her stomach growled once more in synchrony with her thoughts. "Damn this infernal stomach.... I mide as well make it known now that I am awake, at least... It would not be pleasant to have to deal with him attempting to feed me while I 'sleep' "

Pretending to groan quietly as one would when waking up Shila still had to get used to the sound of the hoarse voice that sounded from her throat. It was awkward and weird sounding and it make her think once more of what the hell happened to her to make her be out so long as to make her voice not work like it used to. The scent of freshly brewed white jasmine tea pulled her from her thoughts, though, and she slowly opened her eyes only to look up at the male bender standing at her bedside once more, thick fingers holding the teacup with very stocky and ungainly fingers.

Through half lidded azure-amber eyes the dark haired woman nodded her head to his comment about her being awake and tried to at least sit up a little. Wobbly, unused limbs slowly pushed her frail body up into a slight upright position as she leaned back on her forearms for support. "Yes, I'm awake," She said barely above a whisper so her voice wouldn't crack or scratch when she spoke. Swallowing hard on her cotton mouth she couldn't help but eye the cup that he still held in his hands. "I better be able to," She responded as dark brows pulled together in almost a sort of determination that was like she was mentally telling her body it had better let the delicious drink go down her sore throat and stay there or else there would be serious consequences.

So, holding out a somewhat shaky hand she took the lovely cup that held the oh so desired liquid inside. She gulped once more as her mouth tried and failed to produce the saliva her brain so desperately wanted to produce to demonstrate how much she wanted this lovely beverage as she inhaled deeply, taking in the scent of the tea. "Smells lovely... Not poisoned," She thought somewhat calmly as her oversensitive nose picked up no traces of drugs in it before taking the first long sip from the cup. "Ahhhh, yeah...." She hummed quietly to herself as her blue-gold eyes slid shut once more.

Shan couldn't help a grin from creeping on his face. From the moment the girl took the cup he watched as she fought herself mentally about the simple little drink, wondering if she was at all aware at how much her face was contorting in her exhausted state. He quickly hid his amusement and leaned toward her, resting his elbows on his knees.

"Well... Now that you have calmed down and you are now longer trying to stab me," Shan tossed the girl her bag, all her knives included, "I feel its time I should introduce myself." He straightened up in his chair "My name is Shan. I found you just a few days ago after you were attacked..." Shan took a second look at her bag of knives "or perhaps a fight that just didn't go your way."

When she had finished her tea Shan raised a hand, his fingers tensed and the clay thrown cup shot to his hand in a flash. He then crushed it to sand and let it fall to the ground with the rest of his earthen floor.

"Now before i talk your head off why don't you tell me a little about yourself, you don't have to but we might want to get to know each other if your going to be here a few more days," He gestured to her still fatigued body, "Seeing as you can't even get off my bed."

•·.·´¯`·.·• Shila •·.·´¯`·.·•

After the first two gulps Shila took in a deep breath and let it out slowly as the warm liquid worked its magic on her sore throat. "Oh by the spirits that is incredible," She thought contentedly as she now returned to her drink at a more calm pace, now only taking occasional sips whilst taking her surroundings in to its true depths. Other than the bed she was now laying on there was the decent sized desk and chair that her host was sitting in before as well as a dinky little wooden stove in the room. "... Is this it? I mean.. he has all he really needs in this room... I'll have to find out later on if there is more so I can map it in my head... Just in case," She pondered, her mind clearing up more and more as the tea proceeded to work on her still somewhat dull senses and causing her natural cautiousness to come back at a normal level instead of the previous panic attack one.

Shila sighed and stretched her neck out once to the left and right as a means of cracking it and waking the muscles up whilst she watched the earth bender from the corner of her eye. Taking another sip from her tea as the green-eyed auburn-haired male started to speak she couldn't help but visibly show her relief when her knives were returned to her. As soon as they landed on the bed next to her she grabbed the bag and brought it to her side farthest away from her host, fondling the bag from the outside and counting the blades to see if they were all there. "Yep, everything is in check... I wonder what he did with my attacker's blade, though...." She thought as she continued to eye the strange male once more as he finally introduced himself.

"Well for you information, Shan, I don't attack someone unless I deem it necessary. I don't waste resources and energy unless I need to," She whispered to him bitterly, her voice still not ready to be used fully despite the tea. "Not that I have any energy to spare, anyway," She continue the sentence in her mind, sort of angry with herself at how pathetic she felt at the moment. She did not portray these emotions, though, as she gradually became more aware of herself again.

A small snort escaped her when she heard him mentioning the attack and how she might have not gotten her way in it. "Oh no, it went the way I wanted. Each and every one of those bastards paid for what they did and sure as hell learned their lesson. The ultimate lesson," She started, replying with just a hint of sick satisfaction as she remembered her exacting her revenge. "The wounds were just the collateral needed to balance it out the amount of.... taking... I did that night." She finished the sentence with a cough as her voice betrayed her once more, causing a burning sensation to rip through her throat as she sought purchase in the cup of tea that she had nestled in her hand once more, depleting the rest of the liquid in that last gulp.

Shila made nothing of the display of the earth bender's ability and just reached up and rubbed her weary eyes. She was starting to feel tired once again from all the talking and really wasn't sure if she wanted to say anything more. Her eyelids were drooping again and the muscles in her body started to go lax as her mind begged for the sweet embrace of sleep once more. "My name is.. Shila," She began somewhat hesitantly, speaking her name but changing the sound of it so if you wrote the kanji down it would be completely different. She wasn't sure yet if she could trust to give her true name yet. "That is all I am willing to give at this moment... I am tired now, though, and don't think I'll even be able to sit up any longer let alone talk... I'm... sorry... I have taken your bed and your time.. So with that Shila pulled the sheet up to her neck and turned onto her right side away from Shan, still awake and able to talk more but just not willing to do so. She hadn't talked about herself in ages and wasn't prepared to do that again yet just because this person saved her. For all she knew he had ulterior motives.

But, if I played it safe, would it save me?

As the little water tribe girl slide back into bed, an almost cynical smile stretched across Shan's face. "No need to prove a point to me'Shila" he dragged her name out a little longer than he had meant to "I had no doubt that you can take care of yourself, it was clear that you have to be in some kind of shape not die to instantly from Dai Lee poison..."

Shan stood up from his chair at her side and stretched himself out before turning to leave "I just want you to know you are safe her, i'm leaving but feel free to sleep all you need to." and with that he turned to leave.

Shan left his home and Shila for the first time in a week, he wasted no time in making his way down the the site of the battle just seven days prior, and what he saw when he got him disturbed him deeply"

"Not a damn thing.."

Shan let out and audible scoff and crossed his arms in front of his chest, not a speck of blood or even a upturned rock wherever you looked. Suddenly Shan began to feel anxious, the town had been in a drought for months, no rain could have washed the blood away. "It was cleaned... FUCK!"

If there was someone looking out for this girl they were doing an amazing job, just outside the window of his bedroom stood a man clad in green robes, a dagger in each hand, dripping. Shan almost wanted to wait for a moment to see if Shila would spring from the window and snap the mans neck, but didn't hesitate when he drew his right arm. Shan instantly took stance and encased the assassins legs with sand, he dropped a dagger in panic. he thrust his arms down, palms flat, then crunched his hands into fists, sending two pillars of earth up to snare his hands and bring the man flat on his back. He glided over and sat down, legs crossed and snorted. "Normally... i would make an ass of you and send you off with a life lesson, but since i am fairly certain you are being monitored, ill make you an example." He stretched his arm out and fluidly whipped it back, pulling water from a nearby well, which froze into an ice cycle as it drew near, the man pulled a face and spat at Shan "Do it bender, you wo-" the icicle peirced his throat and cut his sentence short

"I dont like being spat on, trash."
