War produces classic remarks by military commanders; on February 26, 1991, the US 1st Armored Division, the famous Big Red One, encountered the allegedly elite Iraqi Republican Guard. The divisional commander, Major General Ronald Griffiths, radioed his deputy, who was riding with the armored spearhead. "I understand we are engaging the Medina Division?" he said, referring to one of the crack Iraqi Guard divisions. "Negative, sir," came the reply. "We are destroying the Medina Division."
Great proof that despite their quantity, the Soviet tanks that NATO planners feared above all else could be shredded by the M1 Abrams, Challenger 2, Leopard 2, LeClerc, Ariete, and Merkava with ease. Patton would be proud.

Yes, you did. The Pens made it a fight. It proved the mettle of both teams. Be proud of them, though. My money would be on the Pens next year. This experience and hard lesson will do them good.

My pastor, who I was watching the game with, said they need to put Fleury on suicide watch, cause he'll be feeling TERRIBLE that if he hadn't done such a dumb thing, they'd have gone into overtime.

Stuff happens.

Yeah, that kind of play can REALLY take it out of you.

NHL caliber goalies, facing somewhere between twenty five and forty shots, can lose four or five pounds A GAME, in just 60 minutes. Most of it's fluids and sweat, but some also start burning into their fat reserves. I can't imagine the ungodly exhaustion from playing for 110 minutes as goalie. My position is defenseman, so I don't have to skate as hard as forwards, usually. I just have too 1) keep my head up, 2) hit players as hard as I can (that's the fun part), 3) pass to my forwards to get the puck up ice, and 4) take slap shots from the blue line. In that order. I'm not scurrying around in the crease constantly.

and having to flop around like a dead fish trying to stop a tiny little puck traveling at 100+ miles per hour into a net that's wider than you makes the goalies job that much harder

Exactly. They have to move, what, five or six feet, laterally, the whole game? That's not quite as bad as a soccer goalkeeper, but he doesn't get as much action, per game, as a goalie does.

They're all awesome.

true but this guy is just better than the rest of them

Yes, Roy was a great goalie, and he set the records by simply playing longer than anyone else, but he lost a lot of my respect through the fact that he fought goalies and was an overall crybaby. Type "Patrick Roy fights" into youtube to see a few. It is a bit entertaining, but he was far to aggressive, even for a hockey player.

Roy screws up a simple save

This probably cost the Avs the Western Conference Finals. He goes to get a simple loose puck, then tries to do his his gay "Statue of Liberty" pose, and screwed up, big time.

fleury scored on himself

and i'm sure evey other great goalie has done this as well. it's just one of those things
