Manga, What?

Alright, as most of you know, the economy's pretty bad, and plenty of businesses are closing down (GM). Well, several months ago, one of those was my closest bookstore/comics.

For a time, I had to drive pretty far to get my daily shot of Marvel.

Luckily, the store has recently reopened. I, eagerly went there on one of its first few days of opening.

BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY COMIC BOOKS?!

I desperately searched through the store, until I was finally forced to ask the cashier. She pointed to the far right, then returned to her magazine.

Once I got to the spot, I found......

MANGA?!

Yes. No comics, instead Japanese books that were printed backwards (I saw the ending to most books just by opening them).

Saddened, but also in need of a good read, I skim through a few books, but soon become terribly dissapointed. Cyborg 009, or something wasn't all that good (despite having a TV Show). Neither was this one about street gangs, or something.

So, now I ask you. What Manga do you reccomend to a person who's never read Manga, and has constant problems remembering the book's printed backwards?

Note: Just so you know, I like my books with plenty of action, maybe a little humor/romance.

Also, start with the popular ones. The Big Three (Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach). And maybe plus Dragonball or Dragonball Z.

Death Note is about Shinigamis and a guy who wants to change the world, that's all you need to know Marv, L's that guy's rival and enemy...its good read.

If you start to read Naruto, no doubt you'll like Jirayia and Kakashi, .

Saiyuki! You'll like this, its about four people that journey to save the world type of deal, its like that old western tale, I think. Son Goku (The Monkey King) and a few others are in it. Lottsa of demons and hocus pocus.

You should read Witchblade... awesome drawings (you'll see why if you do read them...)

Oh yeah, there's another series I'm reading, its short, up to seven volumes but they're thick, its called KAMI-KAZE. its a good read, demons, mystical swords, magical human races...read it.

I say there is no good manga.

Oh, and for the Big Three, you may have to stick with'em a bit before things start to get epic.

Though I've heard people who think differently.

If you are into action/adventure/love/drama and like samurai or kenshi (swordfighters), then you should read...

Blade of the Immortal
Vagabond (the story of Miyamoto Musashi--the legendary sword saint)
and baddest badass to ever bless the pages of Manga, Ogami Itto in Lone Wolf and Cub

and Deathnote is good. Just read it.

and last, everybody knows I love Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventures, however it's hard to find.

I used to think that too....

My small bookstore doesn't have Deathnote.

Or Dragon Ball Z.
Or Naruto.
Or One Piece.

Only Rave Master, Cyborg 009, etc.

Still, I'll look for all those everyone mentioned. (Specially Witchblade hehe...)

Note: Found an interesting one (Planet Blood). Read the first one, got hooked, then found out that THEY ONLY HAD THE FIRST ONE?! I was very dissapointed.
