A very good friend of mine has been diagnosed with Anorexia. She visited New York to audition for an agent, but the F*cker told her to "Lose the lumps."

She's lost what confidence she had, and has resorted to stop eating.

ACTUAL advice, anyone?

First of all, telling her that she looks fine and is not fat won't help, as true as it may be.

Not much you can do other than be supportive and hope she gets the professional help she needs.

The only thing that you can do right now is keep being her friend, and supporting her. Let her know that she has worth.

As for the eating thing my guess is that it's a phase, that comes with rejection. Sometimes when people are depressed they eat a lot (like me), and some people don't eat at all. It could be that she's just upset.

Basset said that she's actually been diagnosed with the condition, i think it's somewhat mare serious than that I'm afraid.

Make sure she has professional help.

As much as I like to bully ND4, this thread is not the place.

Exactly why those replies were deleted.

If you can, do something to make her feel good about her looks.
-Have her go out for a part in a magazine or a play or something.
Have you told anyone what that guy said; It may be no big thing, but it sounds like malpractice(unproffesionalism or whatever), Verbal Abuse, and downright mean. I don't know but, I'd make a "big deal" about that.

Go up to her and provide the following fact: "Think of a model. She can have her pelvis crushed during sex. Think of a regular weight girl. Her pelvis can take the beating AND foster a child. Stay at regular weight."

I thought being Anorexic was a choice, and one you can change.

Well, make sure to stay by her side, and get her help.

Hope things get better...

It's not that easy to change and more often than not, it becomes a mental problem in general. Sad thing is, Anorexia can be deadly.
