Im in the process of building my dream computer. Well first thing to do is to find a CPU. Ive been doing extensive research for the past week or so, and I think I may have found one; Intel Core i7 965 extreme edition. Besides the outrageous price this seems to be the CPU for me. So my questions are:

Is there anything close to this that is signigicantly cheaper?

Does anyone know the socket type?

What are some motherboards that support this processor?

Anything else I need to know?

See I knew there would be somebody out ther. Well I found out about the socket type, LGA 1366. So once I found that finding a motherboard was pretty easy. Now my question is with a CPU, and a motherboard that powerful how can I keep them cool. For the CPU should I invest in a heat sink, or just go with a fan? Are there other ways to cool a CPU?

My next question is what is the difference between Intel Core 7-965 extreme edition, and the regular version? I mean if the regular one is pretty close to the extreme version Ill probably go with that one, because that's a 400 dollar price difference.

I know a couple people who might know people, but it's nothing I would find time to ask. You could go to Geek Squad, and they might be able to tell you.

uh...I can't help much. I suggest going to geek squad or something like that. If you do have questions I may be able to answer them but I don't build computers and probably wouldn't be able to if I tried.
My father who does build computers, uses fans, so I would suggest that for your first question.
