What do you think would have happened if the Cold War heated up? Would there have been nuclear warfare? Would mankind itself be extinct? Would it have eventually ended peacefuly? How do you think the events would have transpired?

Discuss...

Humanity would be wounded greviously, and to rub more salt into the wounds, the economy worldwide will seriously go down the drain.

Today, WWIII draws close...

Nearly every country in the world would have been involved. Could you imagine Nuclear bombs flying freely. The possibilitiy of the use of the Atom bomb. Considering that the loss of human life was around 72 million people in World War II. Can you imagine the loss of human life with the technology of war today?!?! I know this is not the most accurate calculation but...

66,000 people died at Hirioshima in 1945. Which came from 1 nuclear bomb. At maximum the United States had about... 32,000 Nuclear war heads, and that was in 1953. So who knows how many they would have put out if the arms race had not ceased. Alright so 32,000 bombs every eight years, so that would mean by that rate we would have around 256,000 nuclear warheads by 2009. So 66,000 deaths per nuclear bomb dropped... 16,896,000,000 deaths from just United States Nuclear weapons.

Consider that.

Ok, I've concidered that, and I'll raise you to concider this.

In WWII, the destructive power of the atomic bomb was vastly inferior to that of the destructive force of the nuclear bomb during the cold war. The bombs in WWII were equivelant to 15-20 thousand tons of TNT. The largest nuclear bomb ever recorded as being tested was by Russia at a whopping 50 MILLION tons of TNT. By my calculations, that's 2,500- 3,333 times stronger of a bomb.

So, potentialy, you take your bumber of 16,896,000,000 and it could reach a total of 56,314,136,000,000.

Doesn't matter either way because the poppulation of the planet at the time was 3,000,000,000

If the two countries used biological warfare, then perhaps the death tole would be even greater. Biological warfare is every bit as deadly as Nuclear warfare...

" I know this is not the most accurate calculation but... "

Yeah, none of the calculations are accurate, but the pure numbers are staggering...

Well let's assume that there was no use of nuclear weapons, but all other WMD were in use. What would the loss of life be then?

If the two countries used biological warfare, then perhaps the death tole would be even greater. Biological warfare is every bit as deadly as Nuclear warfare...

True. Who could have imagined some of the diabolical weapons these two nations would have come up with, and don't even get me started on the number of alliances these two would have accumulated.
