As a film fan, I read Empire magazine. In it's latest issue, most of the magazine was encompassed by the "top 500 movies of all time" article (the issue also had 100 variant covers- I ended up with the Return of the King cover. The Akira cover was sold out). Here is Empire's top 15, in descending order:

15: The Dark Knight (2008)
14: Once Upon A Time In The West (1968)
13: Chinatown (1974)
12: The Apartment (1960)
11: Raging Bull (1980)
10: Fight Club (1999)
09: Pulp Fiction (1994)
08: Singin' In the rain (1952)
07: Apocalypse Now (1979)
06: Goodfellas (1990)
05: Jaws (1975)
04: The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
03: Star Wars Episode V: The Empire strikes Back (1980)
02: Raider Of The Lost Ark (1981)
01: The Godfather (1972)

Discuss.

Wow I wouldn't say any of those movies would be the greatest of all-time. I mean their good movies but not ones i would call the greatest movie ever. I think the problem is your comparing Apples and oranges. Honestly how can you can compare the dark knight to citizen Kane, or star wars to rocky. Your comparing two things that have a few broad similarities. So that being said, I think the question should what is your favorite movie from a specific genre.

Aaaah, not a big fan of the musicals...

If done right, I think they can be quite entertaining. Ever seen "The Producers"? I thought it was funny as hell!

I consider the only critic I should listen to is myself.

That includes magazines, newspapers, internet columns.

EDIT: And I don't even think Dark Knight'd be in my top 100.
