Title: Inheritance=Star Wars rip-off.
Description: Yup.

This is from CBUB.

Sympathy said that Eragon (the book) is a rip off of Lord of the Rings, to which 300spartans replied:

Dude, its not just a ripoff of LOTR; the whole plotline is almost directly copied from Star Wars. Think about it; an ordinary farmboy (Eragon=Luke) possessing strange abilities and something important (magic/dragon=the Force/R2-D2) is contacted by some old fart(Bromden=Obi-Wan) who nobody likes and used to be part of a group of heroic goody-two-shoes organization(Dragon Riders=Jedi Knights) that protected the world/universe, who says that ordinary farmboy is the only one who can destroy a certain evil Empire and bring balance to the world. Farmboy doesn't believe him until his guardian (Garrow=Uncle Owen) is killed by agents of the Empire, causing him to seek vengeance and want to destroy the Empire. While on this quest to restore balance to the world, farmboy encounters damsel in distress (Arya=Princess Leia) who worked for rebels against the Empire (the Varden=the Galactic Rebellion), and meets a certain skilled warrior (Murtagh=Han Solo), who joins the Rebellion with him.

QED, Eragon is Star Wars in LOTR times, only the Han Solo character (Murtagh) turns out to also fill the role of Darth Vader because he is related to Eragon as his blood brother. Their father, (Morzac, or whoever) turns out to fill the role of Anakin Skywalker because he betrayed the past organization that kept peace in the world to the Empire, and was killed in a duel with his master, Brom/Obi-Wan.

Heh...

Knew their was something that made me say don't pick it up, now I know.

The story is kept just fresh enough to be interesting. Quite whining over it. You try writing a multi-million copies sold book when you're 18.

Me? I'm not whining. I actually really like the series. I'm only posting what the people over in CBUB are saying.

Good to hear, then. Sorry to overreact. 300spartans is a jerk, though. <_< <_<

the inheritance trilogy is awesome, but the similarities between it and star wars are astounding

i mean eragon is a farmer who leaves his home, after his uncle dies, and goes on an adventure, with an old story teller, that turns out to be a rider

now what does that sound like

Eragon=luke

Brom= Obi-wan Kenobi

the elf who teaches eragon (who's name deserts me)= yoda

Beor moutains= Yavin 4

yep just shows you how great of a story star wars is

Exactly. Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and maybe Harry Potter have such great and classic story lines that almost all fantasy books after draw something from them.

Oh, I agree. I prefer Inheritance to Harry Potter in terms of a good book involving magic, as well. Lord of the Rings is still my all time favorite book (the movies too), and Star Wars is a close second in terms of movies.

in terms of movies i'd say star wars takes it as for books, thats a tough one

I like the series. There's a whole lot of series that other series take ideas from.
