Title: History Swordsmen Tournament (Round 1 Fight 2)
Description: Attila the Hun vs. Joan of Arc

The Last Technomancer - May 26, 2009 10:22 PM (GMT)
OOC; King Leonidas won the coin toss so he's assured a spot in the next round aganst whoever wins this fight.

IC: The two warriors are circling each other trying to get an attack angle. Every attempted strike has been blocked by the opposing shield. If you could see their eues you would see the same look from both: a begruding respect and a need to kill the other. Leonidas has brought his Sprtan sheild up and smacked El Cid in the side of the head; El Cid is down! King Leonidas has proceeded to gouge his opponet's eyes out with his sword. I'm calling this match in favor of the Spartan ruler.

King Leonidas: SPARTA!!!

Only a week ago if you tol me I'd see a Spartan and a Spainish hero fight to the death; I would've laughed but I'm glad I did see it. If this match is any indication, this is going to be one hell offa tournament. While are medics escort the beaten and bttered King Leonidas to the infirmary I'm going to introduce our next two combatants.

Attila the Hun (406–453) was the Emperor of the Huns from 434 until his death in 453. He was leader of the Hunnic Empire which stretched from Germany to the Ural River and from the River Danube to the Baltic Sea (see map below). During his rule, he was one of the most fearsome of the Western and Eastern Roman Empires' enemies: he invaded the Balkans twice and marched through Gaul (modern France) as far as Orleans before being defeated at the Battle of Chalons. He refrained from attacking either Constantinople or Rome. His story, that the Sword of Attila had come to his hand by miraculous means, was reported by the Roman Priscus.[citation needed]

In much of Western Europe, he is remembered as the epitome of cruelty and rapacity. In contrast, some histories and chronicles describe him as a great and noble king, and he plays major roles in three Norse sagas.

Saint Joan of Arc: (French: Jeanne d'Arc; ca. 1412 – 30 May 1431) is a national heroine of France and a Catholic saint. A peasant girl born in eastern France, she led the French army to several important victories during the Hundred Years' War, claiming divine guidance, and was indirectly responsible for the coronation of Charles VII. She was captured by the Burgundians, sold to the English, tried by an ecclesiastical court, and burned at the stake when she was nineteen years old. Twenty-four years later, on the initiative of Charles VII, who could not possibly afford being seen as having been brought to power with the aid of a condemned heretic, Pope Callixtus III reviewed the decision of the ecclesiastical court, found her innocent, and declared her a martyr. She was beatified in 1909 and later canonized in 1920. She is one of three patron saints of France.

Joan asserted that she had visions from God that told her to recover her homeland from English domination late in the Hundred Years' War. The uncrowned King Charles VII sent her to the siege at Orléans as part of a relief mission. She gained prominence when she overcame the dismissive attitude of veteran commanders and lifted the siege in only nine days. Several more swift victories led to Charles VII's coronation at Reims and settled the disputed succession to the throne.

Whoch onr of these two legendary warriors is the better sword fighter? Two walk ind, only one comes out. The winner will fight King Leonidas in the second round of the History's Greatest Swordsman Tournament.

Joan of Arc.

1. As a Catholic, I must vote for her.

2. She inspired French people to fight. How hardcore can you get?! They're FRENCH!?! They can only kiss, cook, and make fun of Americans. But Joan could actually get them to fight. INSANITY!!

Atila has no chance.

Atilla destroys her.

The romans didn't fear him for nothing.

This should be about as colose as the first one. Atilla's got a huge strength advantage but Joan's got much better armor.

She also has better weapons, as well as being quicker (this I assume by her size).

Note: Nice Avatar. Looks good.

Better weapons and armor didn't seem to help El Cid too much though.

Doesn't matter how much armor she's got, his strength is insane, he should be able to axe her to death...

You flipped a coin.

Note: Besides, I voted for Mel Gibson.

It is in this situation. Face it, he terrorized the Romans, not many could do that and that is a far better feat than rallying the french fries...

I flipped seven coins and only because it was a tie. Going off weapons and armor it shouldn't have been a tie.
