Title: What if the U.S had won Korea and Vietnam?

The Last Technomancer - April 28, 2009 03:07 AM (GMT)
The only two wars the U.S. didn't win. What if they had had decisive victories in both?

A lot more people would have died.

Marvel Man - April 28, 2009 05:57 AM (GMT)
Korea: No nukes.

Vietnam: Impossible. There's no way we could've won that. We would have had to destroy the entire country.

We could have won Vietnam if our president at the time had decided to go in with overwhelming force instead of what they did.

Exactly my point.

We would have to bomb every city, killed every man, and turned every rock.
Impossible.

The question is not HOW, but WHAT would happen. so just go along with it.

The World would unite against the US due to the cruelty/force used on Vietnam.

US then kicks most the world's butt, but finally loses against Cuba and Canada.

You actually won the Korean war (original objective was to hold the 38th parallel, you did this, albeit failed in your later objective of rollback.).

And a lot more money spent...

The Korean war? We did win, or at least did what we wanted to do.

MissKnockout - May 14, 2009 08:07 PM (GMT)
I was about to say the same. ^

Not really. We wanted to unite Korea, and hold free elections. Obviously we didn't do this.

Why do win always try to fix other nations problems? I think we should worry about our problems first.

The U.S. is a self appointed World policeman....

You hit the nail on the head with that one. However we can't afford to be isolationist either. I prefer Thomas Jefferson's foreign policy, " Commerence with all nations, entangling alliances with none."

True, technically we did lose.
