Title: WWIII China vs U.S.

Guardian of Nesh - February 19, 2009 07:06 PM (GMT)
This manly centers around the Taiwan issue. The U.S. has stated it doesn't want any changes in the status quo, wanting a peaceful solution in the Taiwanesse straights and is obligated by an act of congress to provide Taiwan with a means of self-defense.

China has vowed to bring Taiwan under it's control, even if by force. If China were to invade Taiwan to bring it back into the People's Republic the U.s would mo doubt interfere due to the change in status quo.

This of course spawns a war between to of the world's biggest powers and the world would have to take sides. So who sides with the U.S. and who sides with China? How does it play out?

Based off the current political climate we aren't currently at war. Meaning that your set-up is like an alternate time line. Still those topics should give you some pretty decent answers.

Hmmmm. Damn it wheres Wingy when you need him.

First off I doubt that they would make an advance on Taiwan, their economy is just as bad as ours is. Secondly, if they did invade Taiwan we are in no shape to handle them with the current circumstances we are in. As for the allies:

USA
Britain
France
Maybe Spain, and Germany
Possibly Italy
South Korea
Israel

Vs

China
Russia
North Korea
India
Pakistan
Palestine
Saudi Arabia
Iran
Syria
Venezuela

Japanese industry would demand that Japan sides with the US. The billions upon billions of dollars invested in american coorporations would cause fiscal downfall if they were to side with China.

True, but the same could be said about them.

I looked around a bit and while I didn't find much, I did see that in 1989 (20 years ago mind you) Japan invested 3.5 Billion dollars into US coorperations. Imagine how much that would be now, especially after the US-Japan investment initiative.

This is the reason why I kinda don't like Wingman that much anymore. for starting that US vs. China match a long time ago. I mean what's the point of these country vs. country matches?

Both countries are great and powerful, but why the hell should they fight each other? I mean China may be Communist, but that doesn't change the fact that they're still just as important trading partners with the US as the US is with UK, Canada, Germany, Japan, France, etc.

While I admit the United States has a stronger military than any other country in the world right now, but if they were to attack China and start another World War, nobody would really win in the end. The whole Earth would be shattered into radioactive bits and mashed into one giant junkyard.

That is all I can say.

Oh and Japan's military has pretty much been destabilized since the end of World War II and I don't really think they have anything against China, so I think they would be neutral to either side.

Now I'm of Taiwanese descent and I say Taiwan should not be under china's control and I do not think US should stage a war on China, otherwise we wouldn't want another WWIII up our noses.

I apologize for being a little dramatic, but matches involving China vs. US is annoying.

If you really want a country to egg on for being communist, do it to North Korea.

Nesh: Your missing the point. If they allied with china then they would have a chance at revenge.

That generation has come and passed. I don't believe that anyone is out for revenge. Would we want revenge on Germany for killing millions of Jews? No. Germany and the US are both different cultures now.

What todays world is about more than ever, is money. The Japanese stand to lose a hell of a lot more from siding with China than they stand to lose siding with us.

In fact, fear may be a driving force to side with us as well. They wouldn't want a bomb to strike a third time...

Solomon - February 20, 2009 03:58 AM (GMT)

The point is US and China SHOULD NOT fight each other, even if it is over the issue of Taiwan. US can persuade them or slap sanctions on china, but that's as far as it goes.

China is just as important to the US in trading as UK, Canada, France, Germany, Mexico, Italy, Japan, and Korea is.

Exactly, the US may have far greater military firepower and discipline, but bombing China would be the biggest no-no they have ever known. Without them, US wouldn't even get half the products they have now.

But then again, there's still Japan to give us all the sweet anime and video games.
