Title: Spidey vs. Supes. Not what you think

Canus Minoris - January 18, 2009 07:52 PM (GMT)
Spider-Man and Superman have decided to engage in a friendly game of ping-pong. Setting the rules, they agree that the only super-powers that can be used to compete are strength and speed.

Who will win?

Link would probaly think it would be a brand new shield and try and block the ball .

Canus Minoris - January 18, 2009 08:35 PM (GMT)
How about Sub-Zero and Ken (from Street Fighter).

Marvel Man - January 18, 2009 10:21 PM (GMT)
Spider Man wins here.

Spidey hits it.
Supes attempts to hit it, but uses too much force, crushing his paddle.

The ball hits the floor, giving Spidey the win.

Spider-man looses. Superman could literally hit the ball fly around the world, and still be back in time to hit it back. Also, Supes has trained himself not to go all out when beating the snot out of somebody, I'm pretty sure that he'd be able to adjust his blows when playing ping pong. Now you could bring up Spidey's spider-sense, but I really doubt that would work unless Spider-man feels threatened by a ping pong ball.

Super man wins.

But if Supes holds back his blows, wouldn't the paddle still break? Supes breaks the paddle, gets desqualified and loses.

He can hold back enough to not break the paddle. Superman has trained himself to hold back. Why do you think Lois' spine doesnt pop outter of her brains when he hugs her?

Okay, that makes complete sense, but if he holds back to the extent of an average man wouldn't that grant spiderman the chance to win? I don,t think spiderman is going to hold back that much if he see a person that muscular in front of him.

I'm not sure if Superman would want to use any of his powers for a game of Ping pong, especialy in front of somebody he doesn't know. He has no idea who Spiderman is and what his capablities are, so he might hold back to the extent of the average man.

If that were true wouldnt spider-man do the same? No, they both know the other have their respected powers. Superman wins.
