Title: What if the Asian powers discovered America?

Guardian of Nesh - November 20, 2008 11:08 PM (GMT)
What would've happened if the major asian powers (China, Japan, and India) had discovered the Americas fifty years before the Europeans did? Remember this is way before industrial tech.

I know for sure the natives won't be massacred. America would speak their languages, and also be a colony, and could make their language called American, which would be a blend of all those languages.

America would be more peaceful in diversity and it would be pretty interesting if all three asian civilizations had set their eyes on the Americas.

Canus Minoris - November 21, 2008 02:41 AM (GMT)
Probably not much. The Native Americans would have already been there. Seeing as how most of the early Asian countries were major powers at times of war, it's entirely possible that a good percentage of the Native Americans would have died, but that seems unlikely.

I wish there were some way to actually see the way things would've progressed if situations like this were to happen.

Nothing would have changed. The European super powers would have found the new world 50 years later. The only difference would be that they would have killed any of the Asiatic people right along side of the native americans.

NO WAY!! THEY WOULD'VE HAD TO FIGHT SAMURAI AND NINJAS!! (is that stereotyping?)

Ummm... the Europeans would have had greater numbers and more guns.

i must disagree, the Euros were looking for Asia so they could trade. When they found the Asains they'd trade nothing more. btw I got the second chapter of DBZ/DC up.

True, but it the Asiatic people were getting in their way from a new land that they could claim as their own, they would not let that little detail stand in their way.

Would they know it was a new land though? Seeing Asians there might reaffirm the original thought that the Americas were Asia.

That would be true... at first. When the Europeans discover that the land is foreign (Probably through discussions with the Asians) then eventually it would have turned into an all out war between the two to gain land. The victor would have been the Europeans.

Well, it depends also on how long the trade went and what was traded. If the Asians/Natives got guns the might win because they'd know terrain better.

Where would these guns magicly appear from? If the Asians were to try to sail back home to get them, the war would be over before they got back.

The Europeans wouln't have guns on hand that are worth trading for. They would have to sail back to Europe to get the supply. By the time they returned with guns, the Europeans that would have most likely stayed behind would have figured out that they weren't in Asia. Now, at this point, they would have either made a treaty to figure things out peacefuly, or they would have annialated all of them. I'm going with the second option...
