I'm going with McCain. He's the Senator for my state and had done a great job here. I also like Republican view points slightly better than Democrat view points, although I concider myself more in the middle.

..........neither......hey, there was a rude joke going around online in Emails....it said There are only three things a american soilder is afraid of Osama, Obama and Yo Mama (this was said to the daughter of the clintons.....)

M Bison - October 31, 2008 12:46 AM (GMT)
Where is the "M Bison" option?

Uh it's hidden somewhere. You just have to access with some sort of spiritual powers you have yet to find.

Seriously, this mock poll is for candidates running for the next American president and seeing as you are British, it really doesn't apply to your homeland at all. But then again it's a mock debate, so what the heck, I'll "vote" for you. Though seriously you should check the debate between those two, it's intense. Read it while you can before the election ends on November 7th.

Who gets your vote and why?

Vote AND COMMENT! (Hopefully SWM will jump in and we can have a good debate.)

Here, have some resources:
John McCain's official site
Barack Obama's official site

First presidential debate
Second presidential debate
Third presidential debate
Vice presidential debate

McCain's acceptance speech
Obama's acceptance speech

Palin's RNC speech
Biden's DNC speech

Alright! I've been waiting for another debate with you Datasnake! One problem, I don't like McCain or Obama. I'm more of a Ron Paul fan.

That is true, but you've told me that if you had to pick between McCain and Obama, you'd pick McCain...

What in the world?!?!?

darkender - October 31, 2008 10:29 AM (GMT)
My viewpoint is that they're both gonna die in office. Obama would get shot if elected and McCain would have a stroke as soon as they say "You won!". Though, if I was to vote I would pick Obama. The reason I would pick Obama is because alot of McCain's viewpoints are very similar to Bush.
Another factor in my pick is that if they die I wouldn't want Sarah Palin as my President due to her well...I dont think she was the best pick for VP.
So.....Go Obama!!!!

Sweet. Well, I'm going with "that one", so we can still have ourselves a debate. Although I will be busy on the weekend, but we can do this today and monday.
I'll go first:
One thing I've noticed about this campaign is the difference in tone between the two's ads. I've seen websites with ads for McCain, which are usually "the horrible truth about Obama!", and websites with ads for Obama, which are usually, "click here to find out where and how you can vote." I find the latter a refreshing change of pace.
My biggest complaint with McCain is his selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate. She has almost no experience, a history of promoting old high-school friends to government positions, a habit of using the state treasury as her personal checkbook (including billing the state for travel expenses on 312 nights she spent in HER OWN HOUSE!), and a tendancy to abuse her power. And before you say, "she's only the VICE presidential nominee, so it doesn't really matter", consider this: McCain is 72 and has had cancer 4 or 5 times. He has, according to actuarial calculations, a 1-in-6 chance of dying in office. That may not seem like very much, but it's EXACTLY the same as your odds of dying from a round of russian roulette, and you probably consider THAT too risky to try at home.

EDIT: Darkender, I wouldn't worry about Obama getting shot. These guys tend to be pretty good at their job.

That's nothing. Obama denied US, and international law by supporting a Kenyan Tribe, over another. Take a look at Ralia Odinga, Barracks cousin. Obama was campaigning for him a few months ago. When he lost Odinga, didn't accept the results, and began slaughtering thousands.

I'm sure you already know about Acorn, and the Weather Underground.

Also, do me a favor, go on Youtube, and type in Barack Obama 2001 Radio Interview.

Yep. I'm sure YOU already know that Bill Ayers has publicly repudiated his terrorist activities, which he performed when Obama was EIGHT, and about Palin's connection to the AIP. And that McCain was a supporter of ACORN as little as two years ago, and that ACORN did not in fact violate any laws, and that the "registration fraud" everyone's so upset about a) was not ACORN's fault, as federal law REQUIRES them to turn in every registration submitted, and B) will not affect the outcome of the election, because registration under false names will make presenting a valid photo ID impossible, which in turn will make voting under said false names also impossible.

hm...do ME a favor and read your own transcript. What I'm getting is Obama saying that it's a GOOD THING ("It didnít break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution"), and advocates that people form their own non-government ("One of the I think tragedies of the civil rights movement was because the civil rights movement became so court focused, I think that there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground") organizations to help people who are suffering from economic hard times.
The closest you get to socialism is the line, "Any three of us sitting here could come up with a rational for bringing about economic change through the courts." This is true. Breaking up monopolies was an example of bringing about economic change through the courts. Suing for the right to unionize, or for equal pay, is an example of bringing about economic change through the courts. Feel free to reply, but don't expect me to get back to you before monday. See ya then.

Once again I do not like John McCain or Barack Obama. Go Ron Paul.

Do me another favor and reread this :

"But the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth. And served more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society. And, to that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasnít that radical. It didnít break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as it has been interpreted."

He's basically saying that it is a shame, that the founding fathers did not "radical" interpreted to force the redistribution of wealth to African-Americans .

He then said: "the redistribution of wealth is an administrative task."

He's saying that it is the goverments job to give you everything. You don't have to work or contribute to society were going to give you everything.

I read somewhere that Obama wants to raise gun taxes on them and ammo too....screw that. but than again Mccain might die in office and Palins' dumb......."Maverick!" idiot. I like Obama's vice predident so if O does get shot, we'll be in better hands, i think.......and maybe no gun taxes, whoo hoo,. I'm not hoping he gets shot just so you know if he does become president........

Because his ideas were rooted in the constitution, and he pretty much owned every other politician when it came to debates.

Still doesn't explain why anyone would want a gun. Seriously, what does anyone need a gun for?
