ok I'm sure if anyone knows a single thing about SNK, you should have no trouble knowing what I'm talking about here. Long ago, I played half the entire series of metal slug in the arcades and I always wanted to own the action home.

Below are just European box arts/conceptual art

Anyways I'm a little too lazy to put up the "story/gameplay/graphics" stuff, since they're pretty much the same in most aspects, so I'm just going to give brief descriptions of the 7 games compiled into a single package.

Metal Slug 1 - good gameplay, the music is alright, the graphics are good, the levels in this game are relatively easy, the bosses are good, but not the best. You also got your weapons such as Heavy Machine Gun.

Score - 8/10

Metal Slug 2 - great gameplay, the music is great, the graphics are great, the levels range from easy to hard, the bosses are sweet, and this time you have two more characters to play as (both of whom are female). More new weapons.

Score - 8.5/10

Metal Slug 3 - awesome gameplay, the music is excellent, and the action is superb and simply the most climatic one in the entire series, the graphics are kickass, half the levels in the entire game are the hardest in the entire series (it took me the most continues to beat this game), the bosses are badass (especially the final ones), and the vehicles just kick more ass compared to the last two games. Same weapons from 1 and 2.

Score - 10/10

Metal Slug 4 - great gameplay, the music is ok, the action is a little dull at times, but still great, the graphics are fine, the levels are medium in difficulty, there are two new characters temporarily replacing the two that were added in 2-3, the bosses are great, more new weapons. the two female characters from 2-3 returns, while the ones from 4 don't. Overall, it's a comparatively disappointing follow-up to three.

Score: 7/10

Metal Slug 5 - superb gameplay, the music is rad, the action is better this time, but 3 is still better, the levels are sometimes hard, same characters and weapons, that's all i can say.

Score: 9/10

Metal Slug 6 - excellent gameplay, the music is hot, the action is kickass, there are new enemies introduced, more weapons/vehicles, there are two new characters added to the cast from one of SNK's fighting games making it a group of 6, you get to actually switch any two weapons you have in possession, at least one new character has to be hit two times to die, each character has different stats. it's the only game close to being as good as MS3.

Score: 9.5/10

OVERALL SCORE: 9/10

In Closing: the Metal Slug series is probably one of the primary reasons why I know and perhaps love SNK. IMHO, this is the best side-scrolling run-and-gun series EVER! If you are a wii fan longing for arcade action, go pick this game up today.

Okay, what IS SNK?

It is an arcade/video game company from Japan that was popular during the 80's and 90's, notably with their King of fighters series. Their games look mighty amazing and beautiful and they're like the closest thing you can get to capcom. It's a shame they're relatively obscure nowadays.

My new unofficial favorite characters made from that company are athena and mai. Don't tell anyone, but i like them more than samus. Although the only snk series i have truly played and enjoyed are metal slug.
