Australia Day is celebrated on 26 January to mark when the first white settlers reached Australia. It's a public holiday and each city has some kind of event planned to celebrate Australia Day, usually a fireworks display, festival and concert. Lots of people like to dress up in clothing with the Australian flag on it and have barbecues. Also its an opportunity to become an Australian citizen.
So if you are Australian, what did you do for Australia day?
There is a little controversy about the day as some of the native peoples, the Aboriginals view the day as invasion day, the day the white people took over their land.
