Horace Slughorn and Argus Filch have been murdered inside the castle. Two students from Hufflepuff are dead, along with well-respected Auror Benjy Fenwick. The Ministry claims to be investigating, but corruption (and Voldemort) is everywhere.
The Marauders, newly reunited with Remus Lupin, and future members of the Order have formed the “Order of Merlin”, while future Death Eaters meet in the dungeons after hours. Dumbledore is under investigation, while Aurors prowl the grounds.
Everyone is on edge, but with a castle full of hormone-addled adolescents, a little impending doom never hurt.
