Under progress. All I have ATM is physics, easing, and running, so dont be all like "()|\/|G 4()|_| |\|()()|3 7|-|/-\7 5|_||<3|) |\|()7 1337" OK?

CHAPTER ONE: THE BASICS
Easing.
Easing is a simple concept, but sometimes it can be hard to learn to do right. There are many types of easing: overeased, normal, and heavy spacing.
Today we will be learning normal easing.
This is bad easing: http://i36.tinypic.com/35nbtap.gif

This is what our goal is: user posted image
Lets see how to make it.
First you start off with one or two pixels then 5 or 6, then 13, etc etc. Do this until its about halfway through the movement. Then you should start easing to a stop. Do exactly what you did the first time, only backward. When your finished, the result should be like the one you just saw.
Simple enough? Yeah. Lets move on.

Physics.
Yeah, a lot of people have problems with this.
This is a bit more complicated. after a while it can be easy but most people start off with this being really bad.
Were doing ball physics in this section. A problem that I see often on beginners is that they do this:
http://i35.tinypic.com/b4iw0p.gif
What happens is that they ease it at the wrong place, where it hits the ground, and it looks awful.
What you should do is this: user posted image
The difference here is that its not easing before it hits the ground, so it makes more of a ground impact, so it looks more realistic when it bounces.
Another problem I see very often is when people bounce it too high and don't ease it well enough it looks like its just dragged.
This is an example of that: http://i38.tinypic.com/346lriq.gif
Yeah, its not eased well enough.

Trailing.
Here you will learn about trailing. It makes animations realistic and smoother.
Here is bad trailing: http://i34.tinypic.com/2vtb4on.gif
You see, the arm doesnt follow the onionskin, and it just goes where ever and looks like s***.
Here is good trailing: user posted image
It looks smoother, more realistic, and just looks better. In short, it's much less novice.

Stiffness.
This is a stiff animation: http://i33.tinypic.com/jfxo4y.gif
See, its very bad. Only one joint moves in every frame. You should move all of them to mave it unstiff.

Now that is better, even though it only took me a few minutes it looks 10X better. it looks more realistic and less like a gay animation.

Movement.
Running.
Here I will teach you how to use my style of running.
Pro tip: ALWAYS have one leg and one leg only on the ground in only one frame, the rest 0. If you have 2 legs on the ground it will look awful.
Here is what were going to make: user posted image
K, lets talk about it. I like to start out on the frame where one foot is on the ground with the other foot crossing over. (vital frame) You should know how to make that already. Now move the head and back up a little, and move the back leg to start bending in to make a smaller angle on the leg. the front starts bending out. Then keep doing that and ease the legs out until its only 2 pixels. During that make the back move far because it will make it less stiff, then ease it less going down because the impact of the landing of the run will look better.
Wow that explanation sucked, look at the frames of the run piv ok?

Walking.
Here you will be taught how to walk. Like when you were 1. Im making this part because there are so many people who just make stick figures float around.
Here is our goal: user posted image
How to do it: Start off making a simple standing stance but at the same time making a kewl walking stance. I do my walks weird so you can change around my walk type a bit. Start moving one leg bending in a bit while the other leg stays straight. At the same time try not to make it stiff. Move the back so it bobs back and forth when you move. Make it bend so it moves past with a flowing bent leg so it is smoother and the movement is better. Its pretty simple how to do these so I don't need to explain much further, so just look at the piv.

Punching.
Most people know how to do this but whatever.
Here is our goal: user posted image
How to do it? Move the arm up and bend it so that it looks like hes getting ready to punch, then heavily space it so that it looks like a hard impact, then go back to a normal stance.
Pretty much move the body and legs very far so it can look harder.

Kicking.
HOWTODOET!
This movement will be the end of the simple stuff.
OUR GOAL: user posted image
This style of a kick is in the air slightly.
What you must do is start in a simple stance, then start doing what you do in a walk. But before you actually make the step space it out more and have the leg trail behind. Then snap the leg to make the kick. Then ease it a bit up and then ease down.
For the arms, make them go all the way up to the head and then down, to make a more cool style to the kick.

AND THIS CONCLUDES THE BASICS.
Come back later for more.

tit.

btw it's pretty good. The only thing that bothered me was that the head was bobbling WAAY to much on walking and running. Also, the kick was very ragdolly. I know you don't want your movements to be stiff, but if you push it too much its just looks too loose. Fix dat. :L

But I like ragdoll movements :C

Great tutorial, lots of content.. but one thing that really did bother me was the way that his back moved during the run. The back should move 5 pixels MAX throughout the course of the run. When he he bobs up and down like that, no offense, but it seems like the stick has a metal disorder. Other then that, really nice tutorial, and from the bits that I did read, it seemed pretty well described.

EDIT:Keep in mind that the background for this forum is a darkish blue. When you use the color red in long posts, it actually becomes painful to read. You should probably fix that.
