"Imperial Land Carrier", Land Carrier that carries my entire army

Ok its been well about 48+ hours in the making but I am atleast ready to give you the results.

After a few dollars and a few hours.
Not to metion a little Virus and getting my computer fragged adn redone all in the process.

To do such a large project with such a large area for failure its pretty nervous to start out and actually do this.

I know its not how you guys may have done it but hey it was my money and time and this is the way I saw it invisioned it and built it.

I have alot of sanding and fileing of small mistakes and what not.
I need to add alot of little details and need to work on covering some of the larger grey areas.

And am looking forward to adding lights etc.
It already has alot of magnets.

Anyways until I get it painted here is the "Imperial Land Carrier"

This is the top section off with the 24 magnets holding it in 2 sections it is removeable to take my troops in and out threw it and so I can add details later and paint etc.





Here it is with 10 Dreadnoughts and 4 Gun Jeeps in it ready for combat.
And these are my big Mech size Dreads at that!

Wow. Some impressive work. But you have a big blank space on the front doors where you could add a bit more. I suggest adding a few icons, maybe a mural, to that top half. Perhaps a small shrine-like thing, before a battle the marines kneel in front of it as their Chaplain says the prayers. On the lower half of the man door, I had a cooler idea. Add a few of those awsome side-doors from a Land Raider or Rhino variant there. After all, your not always carrying vehicles, and infantry can use smaller doors (opening the big ones for infantry would just expose the vehicle's vunlerable innards). A door inside a door .

Ok, the whole point of this girant model is to have a mobile fire-base that can carry pretty much your whole army into the thick of the fighting. But the Storm Bolters mounted in the tread covers is a little . . . much. Not only are they uneavenly spaced, but also unrealisitc in that you have men literaly poking through the treads. Instead, have little hand rails and turn the tread covers into a balcony. Just have your devastator squad sit ontop of those treads and add thier own firepower. Or just remove them entirely, with so many other weapons, who needs Storm Bolters in the first place? Especialy when you have a whole battery of Twin Linked Heavy Bolters.

And you have even more space to fill up! For bigger areas, such as that odd squarish corner beneath the helopad and next to the threads, I suggest you place things like servitors (attached to the hull of course), extending out to take in battlefield information. Or loudspeakers (or servitors with amps for arms and a speaker for a mouth) that broadcast the Emporer's prayers, blessings and such. Maybe even additional chappel-like things. Or simply statues dipicting heroes of the empire, to honor them as your army goes to battle.

For smaller areas, consider simple icons and purity seals and the like. Or, you could go a step further and have battle-damage.

P.S. I'd love to know the rules for this monster, even if I'd never use them (I doupt I'd fight a battle with enough points to field this and an army).

You know why I was building this thing I was thinking I needed some bolter guys to cover security for the troops who would run out the side doors.

So I mounted all the bolter guys.. then when I finished it I looked at it and realised where the tread would go would cut there feet off!
So I removed all of them.
See good call.

As for the front I am going to sculpt or make a large Imperial Eagle Icon to go on it.
One day.

The smaller bits I will do stuff again one day.


But its just one of those things where its so big it carries the tanks and crew inside.
They get out and fight and have a place to fall back to.
And be able to resupply and ride into the next battle.
Kinda like the tanks I have read about in books. etc.

As for points it was like 3,500pts with my army inside.
So its not cheap.
So thats about 1,650pts without my army inside.
Sheesh ya that would be tough to game.
and could go up from there depending on structure points etc if you really wanted to add shields also... dang dare I say 2,500pts!

So its a cool carrying case but thats about it.

Another idea struck me today. Since you've removed the Storm Bolters, you have a whole lot of space on top of those treads. So add some additional weaponry! Your seriously lacking in anti-infantry punch, since your lascannons will be focused on tanks, wraithgaurd, chaos termies and the like. So, to beef up your monster tank, consider the following; Assault Cannons, Plasma weapons, Autocannons (if you can fit them into a side sponson, perhaps with the "shorter range" modifier from the vehicle creation rules), or even missile launchers.

In addition, though you've got some Whirlwind missile launchers, you might want to consider some ordinance weapons. A devestator cannon would not be out of place, and a Lemun Russ Battlecannon turret could replace one of your Lascannnon turrets. Though I see no way to do it right now, an Earthshaker cannon would make this thing kick @ss.

Well I did not want to cross the line of a tank and a Troop Carrier.
As this is a carrier.
Enough fire power to defend itself in the year 40K
And enough to well kill alot of stuff.
But not enough to be a tank.


As for anti infantry I have about 6 storm bolters still on her.
And 10 heavy bolters so should get the job done enough.
and then just open the doors and let the infantry and hole army inside out to fight.
That should do it.

Glad to hear you took off the storm bolter guys, I also noticed they were getting chopped in half by the treads. If you swap the location of the heavy bolters and storm bolters it would all be good I think.

switch and change parts a lot on this.

I also sold it to a friend from the work in progress
site who painted and finished it for his chapter.
