Bolters look a little 'grainy', but otherwise good.
Like the work on the sights, and I love the fact you've used old school bolters (I think I've still got some of those knocking about somewhere)
The white on the shoulderpads looks a little thick though (I think you can see the brushstrokes on the second pic quite clearly)
Have you layered up from Bleached Bone/light brown ?

yes actually I did layer from brown, tan, rice, off white, white.

I dont use GW or expensive paints I use Ceramic and wood or hobby paints at like 99 cents for a big bottle.

Its pretty thick even with tons of water and very rough as in alot of pigmentation.
my white actually seems to be the worst one.
Maybe I should buy a new white?

Anyways thanks.
And heres an update.
The guy on the right is the old guy I practice on and he has tons of layers of paint etc.

The guy in the middle is new and I just finished him and will add his bolter on. Waiting so people can see the detail on the chest before I cover it with the bolter.

Here take a look.

Ok wow for me this has been a very productive couple days.
I now have 5 Beakies done.
And only the Heavy Weapons trooper to go and my first ever hand painted squad will be done.

Yep first ever hand painted.
I have dry brushed and what not and even dipped and who knows.
But to sit and paint each figure this is a first.

So here they are.

Haha, you should be proud mate =P

Is that symbol freehand? Far left marine, the spanner.
Not a massive fan of the bases, but other than that the painting is quite impressive.
Heavy weapon choice?

Actually yes it is freehand.
But I made a pattern on the computer and am actualy trying and doing water slides.

They seem to work so far.

The bases ya there ok as it is for gaming and all.
Nothing awesome but 3 kinds of rock some grass and some sand here and there and you get a nice mixed desert style base.

Heavy weapons will be a Heavy Bolter for two squads and a Missile for two other squads.

I am not takeing a Dev squad so each of these squads will need to lay down some fire power.

Thanks again for all the feedback.
Appreciate it.

Very welcome mate - they're already better than any marine attempt I've ever made.

Can I ask how you went about making your own transfers? I've never been a fan of them (and don't plan on ever using them tongue.gif) but it doesn't hurt to know.

I never thought I would either and I know I saw them on the net somewhere.
So heck I had to find them figure out how to do them etc.
When like you I could have just asked.

But I never thought I would either.
Also if you get them I will walk you through how to make them.
