THE NEW AND IMPROVED WARSTORM OPENING POST:

Warstorm: It does suck. But we play it anyway.

So I totally hated this game, (And still kinda do, in a way), but my description of it generated interest rather than demolished it. SO...... now a bunch of us play this mediocre, addictive, actually kinda fun game.

This opening post will be updated with who is who on Warstorm if any of you wanna join the shit storm.

Rooser: Julius Plaesar
Vicious: Balonar
Reiss: Menas
FrexyianSurvivr: Phyrex
Vandermonde: Vandermonde
RobRoy: FlavourFlav
Skeletor: Shambolic

Hints for newcomers:

1) Get referred by Raw Meat. He has a hard on for Reward Points. Me? Not so much.
2) The Elf Campaign bundle is on sale for $5 and is totally worth it for what you get. The jury is out on the other campaign bundles.
3) You can get free challenge coins by whoring yourself to the TrialPay offers. Most of this is some slimy-ass bullshit so use your Internet survival skills. However, the eMusic offer is uber hassle-free and worth an easy 60 coins, so no reason we all shouldn't at least go for that one.
4) The culture in here is that we're assholes and trying to spend as little money as possible, but really, if you want to dump money into this I don't think we'll ridicule you too much. (And in all honesty I myself am on the verge of just dumping a token sum into Challenge Coins so I can enjoy me some limited).

THE ORIGINAL POST THAT STARTED IT ALL:

Just a short courtesy post. Clicked on the ad for Warstorm, figured I'd just give it a spin.

And only a spin. It sucks, in case you guys didn't already know. Just keeping you from wasting your time.

The big design flaw is that the game has no play decisions. I mean, literally. I liked that Spectromancer game Richard Garfield helped make, but my complaint was that there was no deck building. The strategy was %100 play. In Warstorm it's %100 deck building. You put your little pile together and shuffle it up, and then sit back and watch while your cards plink off the top of your library, (and yes library and graveyard are the terms used here), and their fate just sort of plays out.

If Yu-gi-oh seems like a watered down Magic, this seems like a watered down Yu-gi-oh. Except much worse.

This is what I sometimes wish Magic was like.

The greatest part about this is you can play against people who aren't online.

I just watched a game play out on the website, and I'm pretty sure I know exactly how to play the game already.

So, uh, I guess it gets points for simplicity?

Yeah, you can basically start playing immediately.

Yeah, you can basically start playing immediately.

Or more accurately, you can basically stop playing immediately.

I think the creators just get off on making numbers masturbate.

I am addicted to this game. It is awesome. Well, if they didn't fuck up the $ costs/rarities too badly.

"Warstorm" sounds like the kind of name I would have come up with in middle school.

I can't wait for the expansion, "Shadowblast" "Shadowstrike" "Shadowflame" jesus christ is there even a juvenile "shadow-" compound word left that hasn't already been used by wow

7, one has to be a hero. But games can be n decks vs n decks. Or in single player, when the opponent has n decks you get up to n decks.

I was wrong about being able to play vs people who are offline unfortunately.

The fact that they chose not to put any AI into the battle algorithm makes some situations amusing. Like when a 1/X creature repeatedly attacks a creature with block 1 (prevents 1 to each attack) and retaliate 1 (deals 1 to an attacker). Or when a healer boosts a guy who will clearly die this turn.

I haven't looked through the card list yet, but I wonder if there are any cards that add AI to your side of the algorithm.

Warstorm is the name of my Wargate/Dragonstorm combo deck.

I realized that since Dragonstorm is a sorcery and doesn't come into play, it's casting cost while it is in my library is zero, so I can wargate for 0, get dragonstorm, and then get to plop my two shivan dragons into play. (It's techy because since I played Wargate, I get to storm for 2).

This seems alright. There are a lot of these things coming out it seems like.

I'd like to get involved in one of these earlier in the beta process, though, or something like that. Just because I feel like coming late to the party on these things is the worst.

Tired of waiting for matches to end?

Start the match then click back to the battlegrounds - the match will either give you a win or a loss instantly, and you get to keep the packs from wins!

I do wish it could go a little faster than 8x but I like to see why I won/lost.

I can't believe they made a game that's all about deckbuilding and didn't do best 2-of-3 and give you 2-card sideboards.

Don't even need to start the match, just click confirm and then go do something else and it'll happen
