You get more points depending on how long it takes you to win. Copy that number into the contraption calculator to see how many extra points you get. Badges are awards you get for meeting certain conditions. For example, if you don't use any motors you get a Green Badge, which subtracts three points. There's a list of the badges here: http://fantasticcontraption.com/scoring.php You need to tell the calculator you qualify for the Champion Badge or the Clean Badge yourself.
