Wait, did you take Nighthawk over foil fetch?

personally i would have taken foil fetch and stayed the hell away from black, since passing sorin is just the worst signal in the world. but i'm a pretty bad drafter!!

It's only $10, which is still wrong, but not offensive. -------------------- ![]() |

The best part is the guy who has a heart attack when he gets Sorin fucking Markov third pick. (or a foil fetch) -------------------- I am not, nor do I know, nor do I look like, the guy in my avatar. Don't even know his name.

eh i already have a foil misty rainforest and it's been impossible to offload at a reasonable price...there were two sell ads in classified (for 8 and 9 respectively) that no-one seemed to be biting on. so, taking a good card and winning the draft seemed like a better call (it worked out ok!)

Even if sorin weren't like 8 tix I would take him over nighthawk, and since he's like 8 tix I would certainly not pick nighthawk.

yeah i wasn't sure on that decision. what ended up clinching it was that if i pass nighthawk, they'll assume i'm not black, whereas smart players will realise if i pass sorin i must've taken a black uncommon *shrug* doesn't mean they won't draft black, of course, but they might go a little less heavy on the black! given i ended up mono black splashing journey, it worked out okay

I spent 45mins in the line at customs and missed the start, even after arranging the TO to pre-register a deck for me for the deck swap.
I saw the sealed deck I would have received too...2 machete, 2 hideous end, disfigure, burst, punishing, inferno trap. lol customs. -------------------- "It was another few minutes before I convinced myself that the demon bug of satan wasn't actually there."

It's a pretty interesting pick. There is some debate over p1p1 Nighthawk or Sorin anyway. Sorin is powerful, but a heavy commitment to black, a color you are normally going to have to share, and with the best uncommon in the set passed to the left, sharing directly with your neighbor is likely. The inclusion of the money foil actually might give you some breathing room, since Sorin might go third. Picking the flyer and cutting black as hard as possible reminds me of CHK, when someone might pick Glacial Ray over Kiki Jiki. You end up with a good deck, and totally wreck the guy to your left with the bait and switch. Not something I usually like to do in an 8-man, but certainly viable. -------------------- On turn 4, an elite knight was targeted for an attack he didn't commit. He promptly escaped from an oblivion ring. Today, still wanted by the opponent he survives as a creature of fortune. If you need to get past a wall of reverence. If you can afford WUBRG and you can find him, maybe you can hire...Dragonsoul Knight.

Essentially 100% of people who play magic will look at either sorin or nighthawk, pump the fist, and then select it without thinking. And you are kidding yourself if you think a 1BB spell isn't a heavy commitment to black. -------------------- |
