I figured I would start a concert thread, since we don't have one. 0_5401.gif

As you know, I'm kind of totally obsessed with Tokio Hotel. I went to my first TH concert on Wednesday, and OH MY GOD it was awesome! I was right by the stage, in the balcony, which was VERY close (I'd been to the Electric Factory a few times before, and don't remember the balcony being so close). The band (BILL! Eee!) totally engaged with the fans up front in the balcony. With me, at least! laugh.gif

And check this out, I got Gustav Schäfer's drumstick! He walked over to the side of the stage at the end, looked straight at me, and tossed it up to me. NO SHIT. I've never caught anything at a concert before, ever!

I didn't take many pictures, and actually had a little run-in with security over using the video setting on my camera, I just took a couple of quick shots, just so I'd have one or two of my very own, taken by me. Here's the best one - it's pretty blurry, because I couldn't be bothered to figure out the best setting to use, but I love it. This is how close I was:

Yeah, so. That was awesome! love-smiley-045.gif

My next show is Andrew WK with the Calder Quartet in NYC Nov. 15. Yeah, Andrew WK and a classical quartet, doing some of his songs and... I don't even know... it's going to be amazing, I can't wait! I haven't seen him in over a year.

That's so cool, Holly cool.gif

My concert going life has been pretty lame - I saw Jack Wagner ... twice. James Taylor, Toad the Wet Sprocket (the played at my college), The Barenaked Ladies, Blues Traveler, and Reba McIntyre. LOL Like I said ... kinda lame, but they were all fun shows.

Ohhh I love the Barenaked Ladies!!! where they good?

I've been to 'Lowlands' 5 times, its a weekend with all rock/alternative music acts so I've seen so many bands that I can hardly remember. The biggest names being Live, Foo Fighters, Nickelback, The Offspring, KoRn, etc etc etc. My favs were The Vandals, Sum 41, Blink 182, Muse and yea, all of them

Other than that I've seem The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Backstreet Boys (twice, yes, I know, sad..;p), Boyzone, a few Dutch acts and this year my sister and me saw Bon Jovi and it was the best concert ever! It was during the Euro Cup Soccer and Holland had to play against France that night. Because a lot of people wanted to see the match they showed it on a big screen in the stadium before the concert and we BEAT France with 4-1!! it was amazing! the whole stadium was dressed in Orange (the color of our country) and then Jon came out in an ORANGE shirt to open his show, it was AMAZING! just typing this makes me get goosebumps again tongue.gif

Ooh, this is a great thread. smile.gif

My concert experience has been ... minimal, lol. Aside from the countless Beatles tribute bands I've seen, in October 2005 my aunt and I went to see Paul McCartney, which was so much fun. I wish I had pictures, but they didn't allow cameras and we didn't think to try and sneak one in. I think we were too afraid of getting caught, lol.

But just last week my brother and a couple of our friends and I saw Red, Papa Roach, Seether, and Staind. That was awesome. We really only went to see Seether, who were incredible. Red was okay, Papa Roach was pretty awesome, and Staind was boring. Haha. I took some pictures, though! Sorry some of them didn't come out very good -- I'm really short and there were too many tall people in front of me and no one would lift me up on their shoulders. duh.gif

Seether (some of them, lol). That's their frontman, Shaun Morgan, and John Humphrey, the drummer. Again, none of these came out very good because I'm so short. I'm surprised my tip-toes weren't bleeding by the end of the night because I spent so much time standing on them, lol.

Sam: So, what, now you're seeing demons?
Dean: I'm seeing all kinds of things lately, but nothing like this.
Bobby: Actually, it's not all that crazy.
Dean: How is it not that crazy?
Bobby: Well, you got just over five hours to go? You're piercing the veil, Dean. Glimpsing the B-side.
Dean: Little less New Age-y, please.
Bobby: You're almost Hell's bitch. So, you can see Hell's other bitches.
Dean: Thank you.
Sam: That'll actually come in pretty handy.
Dean: Well, I'm glad my doomed soul is good for something.

Annemiek - The Barenaked Ladies were a lot of fun (boy does that sound not the way I intended, lol). They were really funny. I saw them a long time ago and don't really remember specifics, just that they begged people to not throw Kraft Macaroni and Cheese at them tongue.gif

Their songs are all so goofy and strange, lol. I think my favorite is "The Old Apartment." And now I'm hungry for Mac&Cheese, but I don't have any, lol.

It is so cool that he tossed you that drum stick, Holly! I would have been terrified that I would have dropped it. My hand-eye coordination sucks. dry.gif You were so close!

I don't remember a lot of the bands I have seen, which makes me feel kind of old and senile. rolleyes.gif

From what I do remember, I've seen:
Roger Waters (of Pink Floyd)
B.B. King
Tool
Guns 'N Roses (Buckethead lineup rolleyes.gif )
Metallica (with Deftones, Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, and Mudvayne on their Summer Sanitarium Tour, at least that's who an internet search says were there. I don't remember Mudvayne)
Megadeth
Iron Maiden
Dave Matthews Band (that was free and the fifth row on the floor because I was dating a guy whose father worked on the stadium lighting and so got great free tickets)
I think I saw Phish, but I don't remember
Britney Spears (my sister wanted to go)
Christina Aguilera (my sister again)
Garbage
Aerosmith (Fuel opened)

I don't remember anymore, but I'm pretty sure there were others.

I've been to more show/concerts than I can list - tons of local shows, as well as a few bigger ones. Let's see... my first concert was Diana Ross, with my parents. I've always been a big Jacksons fan, and that's as close as I got.

Some other bigger concerts:

U2 (HUGE concert at the old JFK stadium... to big for my taste, but fun, and Bruce Springsteen was a surprise guest. Little Steven, too, so whenever I see The Sopranos, I'm like, hey, I've seen him in concert! wink.gif)

The Power Station/OMD

INXS

Midnight Oil

The Monkees biggrin.gif

Crowded House

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones (Five times)

Token Entry (they're not that big, and there were only like 50 people there, but it was one of the most fun, best shows I've been to)

The Aquabats (Blink-182 and Primus were the main bands at that one)

Kemuri (Japanese Ska band - it was a multi-band tour called "Ska Vs. Racism" but they were who I went to see. They were amazing, and the singer singled me out in the crowd when he noticed I was singing along in Japanese. smile.gif)

The Toy Dolls

The Mr. T Experience

The Riverdales

The Descendents

Andrew WK (about 20 times so far... I'm a BIG fan)

Flogging Molly

Agent Orange

Tiger Army

And lots more... but these were the best, along with Tokio Hotel.

Oh, and I've never seen The Barenaked Ladies, but I interviewed the drummer once. I know, lame! Don't you hate it when someone who knows hardly anything about a band does an interview? But it was assigned to me, and it was a phone interview. I was so nervous!

Wow, now I feel lame.

I saw a couple of bands in a bar a few years ago, which I don't actually count as a concert, but now that I feel musically inadequate, I think I'm going to count them anyway. The opening band was called The Mob, and I still have the CD they signed for me. (I wonder if they made it back to Norway. Hmm.) The other band was ... well, shoot, I can't remember what they called themselves; it was basically guys who have played with famous people, lol. Joe Lynn Turner sang. He's the reason we were even there. Nice guy; big hair. He and my mum were good friends.

And that was more than you needed to know, I guess, but the real concert I went to was a small Guster concert. They're so much fun live.

I just saw Argentine musicians. Blackgamon, Buey and Fernando's Rock. The last year I would liked to see U2 and Oasis, who came to Argentina sad.gif

I saw TMBG too! It was a New Years Eve show! My sister's birthday is December 30th, and that was my present to her that year... they're her favorite band, and it was her first TMBG concert (she was still a teen at the time, this was early '90s). Her last was taking our niece to see them doing their children's songs. Anyway, yeah, that New Year's show was great. I really like them. "Flood" is one of my all-time favorite albums.
