Well, this movie has been listed as being in pre-production for a while and Garrett is listed as rumored.

Here's the description from IMDB:

"Garrett Hedlund star as Louis, a fallen top DJ in Brooklyn circa early 80's. From various addictions and emotional pains, he is at the end of his rope.He is down and out and has a gambling debt of 25 G and 24 hours to pay it or else Jimmy Thumb and his enforcer Eddie Panko( Kevin Durand) will kill him."

It sounds like it could be cool - if nothing else, the hair possibilities are endless, lol. The director is Richard G. Wright, the photographer who did that series of DJ themed pictures with Garrett. And the other cast members are Robin Wright Penn (the director is her brother), Roseanna Arquette, and Kevin Durand.

It looks like filming could take place in NYC (Cyndi ... Roadtrip!!).

I have this horrid feeling he will die at the end of it.
I really do, I'm not sure what I'm basing this on, lol, but I just have this vibe.

I know what you mean, lol. But it's apparently a comedy. He can't possibly die in a comedy ... can he? unsure.gif

He can. Have you seen Hot Fuzz lol? Many people die violently in that film ... with Garrett's luck, I expect the same.

I was just looking at Hectic's IMDB page and I noticed it is now listed as "In Production". I'm pretty sure it used to say "Pre-Production" but I could be wrong. It looks like the info was updated on February 15th. Maybe they were waiting for the strike to end so that they can work on the script a little more.

Yeah, FINALLY a production status update! It had said August something since... well, August. Rumors were starting that the project was dead due to the lack of any imdb updates... I didn't believe it, but it's still a relief.

I think After Hours is a black comedy. I've never seen it - or if I did, I don't remember. Here's the plot from IMDB:

QUOTE
Conjure up an urban world where apparently friendly young ladies all turn out to be somewhere between odd and crazy. Then imagine you're up here to see one such girl and your last bill has flown out of the cab window on the way. Then pretend your date has committed suicide, you've somehow got branded as a serial robber, and another girl is after you with her ice cream van. You could well be Paul Hackett stranded in New York's SoHo in the early hours miles away from your uptown word processing job. You've got some change but since the subway fares went up at midnight, not enough to get back. Who do you call? Definitely not the police

I can see how the plot of Hectic would bring to mind that film. And the thought of Garrett doing a black comedy makes me very happy. He hasn't done anything like that yet and I think he'd be great at it.

Holly has mentioned that she thinks there's a slim possibility that they may be filming Eldest right now and just haven't announced it yet. I suppose that could be true since the new book is coming out soon and they really need to get going if they want to catch the momentum from that.

But I would much rather see Garrett as an edgy DJ than a dragon rider, especially since said dragon rider would only be in the movie for 10 minutes if they stick with the plot of the book.

I agree, that would be a great addition. I mean, we know he can do comedy and he can do dark!

It's just time for someone to give him a chance to establishes himself as a leading man too. Not for the fame, blockbuster and eye candy reasons (well, he is hot ;-P -I have my fangirls moments, I should warn you -LOL - Hey I'm being upfront in here.) but I would love for other top notch directors to give him a chance. He does so well with troubled/dark characters. I would die if he worked with Chris Nolan for example....I love how Nolan does the whole psychological thing. Or I would love for him to do a role like Leo's in The Departed. I mean I see all these boozos doing all these roles (and not well) and getting all the fame and glory and Garret is like not doing a lot....as some of these least gifted actors.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want the Emile Hirsh, Shia LeBeouf fame for him.....no....I want strong and steady for him. But it would be nice that some top director and producer would give him the lead in a challenging role.

I love black comedies and Garrett definitely has the timing (just look at 4Bros) for it.

And this would be different from ERAGON, how? angry.gif

I agree completely. I get so frustrated when I see a movie or read that something's been cast and it's a part that Garrett would have killed. I don't understand, for example, why Channing Tatum is getting cast in things and Garrett isn't. I didn't see Stop Loss, but I think something like that would be perfect for Garrett - dark and dramatic.

I remember reading that they were thinking of making a sequel to The Departed, focusing on Mark's character. How awesome would it be if Garrett got to work with Scorsese?

I swear, I wind up picturing Garrett in every book I read and in every movie I see. Um ... did you say something about fangirling? LOL
