I have created this page for owners to tell us about their model Grady.

You can also post links to other reviews that you find. There is so many older Gradys around, people are always searching for real reviews. Please start the topic with what year and model, If someone else has the same model please add to the thread. If its a differn't year or model start a new one. We should be able to cover many years and models.

Thanks Capt. Mike

I recently traded my Marlin 300 for a 2006 Express 330. what a fantastic boat. I have twin Yamaha 250's and it is loaded with all the newest Furuno electronics and all the safety equipment for chartering. The reason for the trade was so that I could seat all my customers under the hard top. The Marlin 300 was a great boat but it is unreal how much better the ride is on the 330. This is my last boat and I know I have said this before but the 330 will handle everything I need and want in a boat. Besides that I am retiring from 30 years in education in June and will not be able to affford a bigger boat.

I am new to owning a Grady, I just purchased my first. It is a 1988 204 Overnighter with the original Johnson oil injected 200 on the back. The boat was bought new in '88 and bought from the original owner. The boat was extremely well taken care of. No one believes me that it is an '88 model boat. I have not had the chance to take it out yet, but once I do, I'm sure I won't want to get out of it. - Rob

I bought my 1999 192 new in 2000 with a Yami SSII 150. Most of her days are spent on fresh water but she has made several trips to the salt. Thus far she has gone from Norfolk to Charleston, along the panhandle and to the Bahamas and back. While a little more room would be nice, she handles any task I throw at her quite well including being our hotel on the salt water trips - no reservations needed.
I've had the boat in some rough seas and never had any problems or fear - not something I can say for some past boats. Even on the fresh water her hull and weight make a nice difference. I forget how nice the ride is until I catch a ride in some other boats of the same size.
One other great 'feature' of the boat is how easy it is to clean/maintain. She gets one serious all day bath/wax-o-thon per year and a quick hose-off the rest of the year. I still have folks asking me how I like my new boat when they see it - try that with some of the other brands.
The short version is the Grady 192 is a versitlie boat you can fish from without cpomplaints from the family.

I purchased my 1979 204C in'83 repowered it the first time in '88 with a 200hp johnson,I repowered it again in '06 with a 150hp ETEC.Initially I was afraid that I was underpowering the Grady but to my supprise I went from cruising at 23kts at 4000 rpms to cruising at 26.5 kts and using only half the fuel burn. The boat also handles completely different-to the better.

Nice! I have a 150 on my 91 and fish all the time with 4 guys and gear and never have a problem. Some guys are convinced you need the Max. power but I do close to 40 WOT. How often can you run that fast? This year I added trim tabs...should help to keep the nose down when I do have weight aft.

We bought our 1988 Seafarer 228g three years ago from a guy who brought it up from Florida. She was a little rough but we are bringing her back to her glory. The boat handles well with a 200 Evinrude, just a little thirsty. This year we would like to replace the decals and stripes, and maybe install a new bimini top.

Dear rob, it is so great to know the Johnson name is still out there they are great engines! (if they are maintained of course.
P.S be sure to use the specific "Johnson oil" try Academey or even a place like B.O.A.T U.S
