Well. I had $1600 that looked as though it'd only be spent on games that I couldn't run and junk food I shouldn't eat. So I decided to turn the tables.. if I knew it was going somewhere, then it may as well have been on something useful!
So, I threw away $1200 onto this new computer.. Fantastic. Plays Prototype, Crysis, Assassin's Creed, Sims 3, the lot of it on maximum settings with no lag-time or anything at all. (FPS figures soon - I need to find my free version of FRAPS first.)

Motherboard: Gigabyte P43-UD3L Intel Chipset
Sound Card: (Generic. Never purchase sound cards.. waste of money.)
CPU: Intel Core 2 QUAD Q8200 2.33Ghz
Graphics card: Geforce GTS 250 1Gb
Hard disk: SATA 1Tb hard drive (Unpartitioned. I was thinking about sectioning off Windows but uhh.. Meh.)
RAM: 4Gb DDR2 SDRAM
OS: Windows XP
And since I know the bloke well enough, he's happy for me to use the 24 months warranty to.. uhh... 'tinker' with the parts inside, so long as I don't do anything retarded like slam a screwdriver through a chip.
This does, of course, mean that I've lost all of my music, pictures, and the 25Gb of porn/hentai mix that I had saved up for the most rainy of days XD.
