I watch loads of anime, in fact i prefer it to watching movies sometimes. These are some i have and have watched recently (although some i just watch over and over cos i love them)

At the moment im watching Bleach series 2 (just awaiting the release of series 2 part 3)
>> I love Bleach, i love the story to this and Kon makes me laugh and i cuddle my kon plushes when i watch it - story so far for me.... ichigo is on his way to rescue Rukia from the soul society.
Deathnote - up to part 2 on the dvd series, cant wait for part 3 to come out!! ahh i hate waiting

I love anime with mechs and machines in - always been a gundam girl lol. But generally i love any anime with ghosts/spirits and the supernatural in

Tactics - worth a watch but its not what i thought it would be and i watched it as its storyline appealed to me and ive always been interested in the 'paranormal' and i love the fighting for good
against evil spirits and bad demon/goblins storyline. This was a good series and it also made me want to cry at one point as it was so sad.....................

I can most definately recommend Appleseed EX-machina - directed by john woo this is amazing. The story and graphics in this are soooooo good. I have watched it a dozen times already. I watched the original appleseed and i wanted to see how they carried the story and characters over from the original to this and i am glad to see that i wasnt dissapointed.

Elfen Lied - loved this and it was quite violent and gruesome with lots of blood and gore, but i felt for the charaters in it and again i thought this was quite sad.

Anyway a new anime thats due out for release in the UK this month is
VEXILLE - this is sooo much like appleseed ex-machina and its fantastic, its got a kicking soundtrack combined with amazing animation and great characters that you actually start to feel for. Great story line i would definatley say watch this. Ive ordered the dvd and cant wait to get it so i can watch it again.

Ive got too much anime to list so im only putting my other favourites - hmm lets see
gunslinger girl/full metal panic/chobits/paprika/sky blue/ghost in the shell (all and SAC) and more that i forget about and ill have to pull all my dvds off the shelf to list them, lol

After reading the Hellgirl thread i thought id see what other anime people on here like and what do you recommend that is good to watch?

Well it depends entirely on what you like to watch.

I watch a lot of insane stuff, like Lucky Star, which I would recommend to everyone but the humour in it is very much... well, stupid.

I must admit, I don't watch nearly as much anime as I used to do. I prefer live action dramas now.

I'll post my list of anime series. I can upload them for people if requested, but please remember it will take time (it's like, 600+MB an episode so HJ split is a must!)

Currently on this computer:
+ Shakugan no Shana
+ Ouran High School Host Club
+ NANA

(I have more on my external harddrive but I don't remember what's on there)

Hmm... I have a bookcase that's full of anime and Asian horror and extreme films... I loved Elfen Lied as well. I could run off some recommendations, but it'd probably take a while. lol Maybe I'll try some tomorrow. Gotta get to studying a bit more so I'm prepared for when my semester starts. lol

HELLSING. and Mermaid Melody Pitchi Pitchi Pitch is good for a giggle if you can track it down. Actually, if you do, tell me. I watched the first 3 eps, then Youtube deleted it!

I'm in the middle of STR.A.IN. (Strategic Armored Infantry) and so far it is much better than I thought it would be. It's not a very popular anime, but I like my sci-fi anime as much as the horror stuff.

I just received my copy of Dance in the Vampire Bund, so I'll probably watch it next.

Looking forward to watching the re releases of Utena: Revolutionary Girl, as well as the two Galaxy Express 999 movies. I LOVE Leiji Matsumoto!

My most recent favorite is Black Butler/ Kuroshitsuji. In fact, my boyfriend and I are going as Sebastian and Ciel for NDK this year. We're the right heights, too!

I would recommened Haibane Renmei and Witchblade and others have already mentioned Elfen Lied, and if you haven't watch the Studio Ghibli animes you really should.

If you want something that's just plain faffed up watch Puni Puni Poemy... it's more faffed up than Excel Saga... which is another good series.

Anyone else ever read Tetragrammaton Labyrinth? It's one of my favorite mangas. If you like the demon hunter, horror theme with gothic lolita fashion, then check it out.
Winning!

oh ive got all the books tetragrmmaton labythinth. shame it was so short and ended quite quickly, all the characters were awsome and loved their background stories.

things i would recomend mushi shi, very similar to studio ghibili in terms of background art work. there isnt any actual story arch, each episode is its own special story. but you do follow a character called Ginko who has an amazing voice actor.

oh and if you need a decent website to find any good varity of anime here you go ^.^ that is if you guys didnt know about it already.

Hmm animes to recommend where to start where to start

well Hellsing, Elfen Lied, Hibane Renmei & GITS have all already been given shout outs

so what does that leave me...

Well ive always considered Akira as a must see to be able to truly say your an anime fan
theres also classic favorites Fist of The North Star, Venus Wars, Dominion Tank Police, Guyver
and a personal fav of mine Legend of the 4 Kings (Dragon Kings in the states)

later series that are worth a look are Mobile Fighter G Gundam & Evangelion

more recent series that are worth a look are the likes of the Guyver remake, FMA,
Final Fantasy Unlimited, Negima!?, Black Blood Brothers & Rin

as far as oddities

Theres always Digi Charat, Dragonhalf and for older viewers Miyuki in Wonderland

others that ive had recomended to me to watch (some of which i do own just havent put on yet)
include Gantz, .Hack Roots, Wolfs Rain, Witch Hunter Robin.

there are many many others in my collection i could meantion but i kinda think i need to
bring this to a close hopefully you can pick some interesting ideas from this

-Tatsu-

Also if anyone has Legend of the 4 Kings on DVD send it to me =P ive been after that series for years
since i originally watched it on vhs...
