Boyle quits over Michael Jackson jokes
Paper wouldn't publish his gags Frankie Boyle has quit writing his column for Scotland’s Daily Record – because they wouldn’t print his Michael Jackson jokes. In his weekly column for the newspaper, he submitted a string of one-liners about the dead star, most of them about the allegations of paedophilia that surrounded him. The Mock The Week star sent a message to members of his mailing list on Friday stating: ‘Oh dear. Had to quit my Daily Record column over a moral disagreement. ‘We disagreed over whether it was ok to make jokes about a dead child molestor. Here is the whole column, big love my niggers.’ The unpublished column included such gags as: ‘I was a big Michael Jackson fan when I was eight. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was his “type”,’ and ‘An interesting attitude we have to paedophilia in this country: We don’t want paedophiles round here! Unless they’ve really worked on their choreography...”’ Boyle also joked about Jackson’s dramatic weight loss, saying: ‘He now weighed less than nine stone and the only thing he would eat willingly was nachos. Nachos being the name of a young Mexican boy.’ When Boyle signed to the Record eight months ago the paper boasted of how he would his ‘spikey and controversial brand of humour to Record readers’ – although it seems he was just too controversial for them. However, there seems to be a huge demand for jokes about the star. Chortle had three times the normal number of traffic on Friday – with most of the extra visitors driven to the site after searching for the phrase ‘Michael Jackson jokes’.
