He hides these marks along with his eye.

--Appearance: Rhynn is very small musculature wise for a boy of his age group. He has always been underweight and rather “girly” though no one outside of his own family would dare say so out loud. He was bothered by this when he was younger, for it was always a given that growing boys would be interested in fencing, war games and hunting, things that Rhynn wasn’t physically built to do. The pressure was laid off him when it was found that he was a master mapmaker and historian. The “sage” persona was more fit to a boy with his physique. Rhynn is pretty much required to wear the imperial emblem, but he tries to be as simplistic as he can within his dutiful bounds. His school uniform is a simple black suit with a white cape/cloak embroidered with the empire’s symbol of sovereignty.

--Personality: Rhynn is pretty shy and antisocial. He doesn’t speak to anyone unless he needs something or if the person is at a certain social standing that would be rude not to address them. This makes him seem rather stuck up. When he does speak, it is always extremely formal and fancy. He honestly doesn’t realize how his speech compares to everyone else. He treats everyone with the utmost courtesy and praise. He was raised in this fashion as he will one day inherit the capital empire of Neo. He is soft spoken and has a most friendly smile when he addresses someone. He’s a natural “Prince Charming”. Rhynn is very interested in history and geography. His hobby is making maps of the world, adding notes about famous people, wars and discoveries. You can name any point in time and he will tell you a thousand things that happened to any one village in Neo at that date. His maps are said to be among the masters’ in their design (though it is hard to distinguish truth among flattery). He has a tendency to space-out when he is by himself and he is often seen with an absentminded look on his face as he walks down the corridors of Zeta Academy.

--Items: Rhynn, of course, has a whole lot of “stuff”, but his most prized possessions are a very large and intricate map of the entirety of the world that he has been working on for months, a golden astrolabe he was given two birthday’s ago, his sketchbook full of “dreams”, and many books on legend, history and navigation that he brings with him everywhere he goes.

--Skills and Abilities: Besides his prowess with mapmaking and remembering dates, he also has a magical ability passed on through his bloodline. A lot of members in the imperial family are seers. They have the ability to see things in the near future or things that are happening in other parts of the world at that moment. The gift is rarely useful, as the visions are usually extremely short and terribly ambiguous, but it is still regarded as a miraculous talent. About thirty percent of the imperial family has the sight and the number grows by the generation. It is all because of the imperial line’s tradition of inbreeding. It had been known at a young age that Rhynn has the sight. After his near fatal encounter six months ago, his visions have become more frequent and strange. He sees things that no one has seen before and seems impossible. The healers say that the visions are simply daydreams and nightmares triggered by trauma and should fade over time. No one believes that they can possibly be real.

--Companions: Rhynn’s fondness of animals is evidenced by the many pets he has accumulated over the years. Upon his admission to Academy Zeta, he decided that he would have to leave them behind. They would be much happier in the castle gardens and stables then in a stuffy dorm room.

--Background: Rhynn is the eldest son and heir of Neo’s emperor. Rhynn seemed naturally born for the role as he had quite a mind for politics and picked up on formalities very quickly. He was a kind and quiet young boy and became quite a favorite among some sects of the common populace. There were some who quietly complained about the boy’s weakness, feminine looks and sensitive tongue, afraid that such a person wouldn’t be able to lead a nation such as the grand expanse of Neo. Whether they approved of him or not, they really had no choice either way and there was no denying that the prince was compassionate and fair.

At the age of sixteen and a half, Rhynn was enrolled in the prestigious Academy Zeta. This caused quite a commotion within the students at the school, not to mention their parents. Since Rhynn’s enrollment, the school has received a record amount of admittance applications and they have had to revise their admittance criteria to fit with the growing number of people wanting to attend the school. Not that this is a bad thing, since the academy has received more funding than ever before.

Six months ago, the empire was rocked by the near death of the young prince. Rhynn was being escorted to the blue coast where his mother was currently spending her summer. Of course, Rhynn’s carriage was being guarded on all sides when the attack hit. It came from the air, a very small pirate airship. The guards on horseback told the carriage driver to get the young prince away from there. The carriage driver, who was nearly panicking at this time, coaxed the horses to full speed down the rough path to the coast. The battle behind was well out of sight before the carriage hit a sharp bend and slammed hard against the wall of the coastal cliffs to the right of the path. The right wall of the carriage splintered on contact and bounced off the wall onto its side. There was a jagged hole where the carriage wall once was and the carriage driver ran to this opening to find what had become of Rhynn. He was horrorstruck by what he saw. The splinters of the wrecked carriage had pierced the boy’s flesh as if he were a pin cushion. Most of the shards were small and would be easy to remove, but the only thing the driver could see was where a large piece of wood had pierced through his eye.

The driver ran down the coastal path, afraid and sick to his stomach. By now they were closer to the empress than the guards they left behind and he just needed to get help as soon as possible. He honestly believed he killed the young boy as there was so much blood and the little thing wasn’t moving an inch. By the time the driver got help and the healers arrived at the scene, Rhynn had already lost a great amount of blood. They were able to heal almost all of the minor wounds, but there were two that were just too serious. The eye couldn’t be saved now, so they moved on to his right hand which had been shot through by a very large wooden splinter. They were eventually able to restore function to it, but the scars will remain forever.

Rhynn took six months to recover from the incident and adjust to sight with only one eye. He has become more subdued than ever and his mother was afraid that he was becoming depressed. His strange “nightmares” worry his parents and they insisted that he stay within the castle until this trauma was over, but Rhynn wished to go back to school.
