well, do you really want to make customs, make sprites using a pre-existing style, like mega man, pokemon, or something like that?

Find a style of sprite you like the most and try to play with them!

Megaman and Pokemon sprites are pretty popular here. I myself play with One Piece Gigant Battle, Jump Ultimate Star and Jump Super Star Sprites. DensetusEX has several threads of interest which are a great basis to get you started. Good luck smile.gif

The comic is made of LEGO bricks, so I want to take a LEGO game(a DS game) and make my characters out of the sprites from the game. how would I do this?
