New Labour came about after three successive defeats by the reinvented Tories. Three successive defeats now and five leaders the Conservative party has now al but reinvented and re-branded itself, how deep that goes one can only speculate.

There does seem to be a grim inevitability of the conclusion of the next general election, PM Brown will more than likely only keep the seat warm until David Cameron moves in.

The big question is where New Labour can go if and when it ends up on the opposition benches, further left and it isolates the professional supporters, further right and it isolates the working class Socialists. Obviously Brown won't last long in opposition, he will be seen as part of the reason they lost.

Even if they manage to pull something out of the bag and win the next G/E, it will be on such a low majority that a Brown government will be struggling to govern. As was the case before, where there is political uncertainty and deadlock the economy usually suffers.

My prediction is that Labour have reinvented themselves into a corner, their members will pull two different ways, to their roots and to the centre. One part will want to play the Conservatives at their own game but the other will not want to go any further in aping their adversaries. It could be that the Labour party as was predicted would happen to the Tories but didn't, will split into two parties. A modernist son-of-New-Labour, business loving and Europhile and a back to the roots Labour party with Socialist ideals, Eurosceptic and championing the working man.

Both will either cancel each other out like a larger version of Veritas and UKIP or become so as their origins are so unrecognisable that it will be difficult to recognise them as having the same origins.

I don't think even Spitting Image would do a better job than New Labour is doing, they are their own satire!

biggrin.gif Agreed!!!

-----------------------------------------------

For as long as politicians continue to treat Joe Public like idiots then they will continue to breed contempt for themselves.

There is no honesty in either of the three main political parties.

It would also appear that any new party which tries to start up, thinks their route to success should be in the same vein! eg Veritas and UKIP. They tried to keep their members in the dark. So without any debate or discension they could proceed with their underhanded dealings.

Now we see a new Workers Party starting with a veiw to replacing the lost Old Labour Party. Will they last? I doubt it.
Political Mafia abound and will ensure the destruction if they don't self destruct.

Mr Blair at the beginning of his reign, promised so much, and at the end of the day we can only sit and watch the country bankrupted. No Health Service - Education failing our young - Little or no Pensions for our old age in the future - Ineffectiveness of Police to control riots which will be inevitable when the country deteriorates.

I despair angry.gif

yes - the one thing that would make the difference is honesty and genuine recognition of mistakes

Reported in Todays FT,
New Labour are to sell their HQ
and get Loan Extensions.

That is not a sound Future.

Also on the More 4 Late Show last night
they concluded that Brown has no balls for his future Job.

Those 37 New Labour voters that went to the LibDems
are just a few that went Public.

Blair has to go this Year
or he could wreck New Labours Future Forever.
